I see a lot of hoopla down below so I’m taking this forum to stand up for what is a fine Midtown Starbucks. Normally, I’m a hipster when it comes to my hot caffeinated beverages, but in times of rush and need I will succumb to the strangle of a big corporation. The time was 11PM. the place broadway and W. 55th. Needing some fuel for a late night cruise into the coastal state of New Jersey, I swung the doors of the Starbucks open on a rainy Thursday evening. The clock was approaching midnight and waves of fatigue were starting to strike. I was already hesitant when I saw the green Seattle queen atop of the entrance, but I had little choice. As I took my beginning steps into the shop I waited on line to see a display of what was a lovely mix of fresh fruit and well-crafted pastries(see pictures). Confession: I am sucker for chocolate croissants. Already, I was ripe for a good experience. I took two jolly steps to the register when Paulina, a lovely Cuban or Puerto Rican gal(hard to tell!), served me a warm smile before even hearing my desperate call for an Asian green tea. Quickly Paulina treated my drink with tender gloves and soon enough I had a steaming beverage and a wonderful Starbucks experience. I strutted out into the dark night, ready to hit the open road, thank you Starbucks, and thank you Paulina. Your Friendly Critic, TheReverend57

Dear Starbucks Corporate, You know full well that your customers abuse you for your free wifi. And I know you know that because you removed many of the outlets and chairs and tables at your locations, forcing customers to be slaves to their laptop batteries and acts of decorum(like not sitting on the floor). Therefore, I feel that it is only polite that you post a sign on your front door if your wifi isn’t working. It’s the polite thing to do. Especially if your gold card customers purchase a severely overpriced coffee in order to «buy» time with your wifi network, only to be forced to drink it at home next to a completely functional coffeemaker because home has wifi and you do not. Sincerely, A gold card member who is leaving her third wifi-less Starbucks of the day

Wanna feel like a New York City bigshot? Grab your briefcase, your wingtips, and your suede-elbowed sport coat, and head to this Midtown Starbucks! Minimal seating means they’re not really looking for the Sit-and-Sip types. They’re used to the In-and-Out crowd, so if you want a cup of coffee, you’d better comply! They expect you to know your order by memory. You’re going to get your coffee quickly, and your order will be correct(because who can wait around to complain?), and — zoom — out you go! Quit that dilly-dallying! Are you still reading? The people behind you have places to go!

I visit this Starbucks when I’m on my way to teach a fitness class nearby. As far as Starbucks locations go, this one is fairly typical… but, one thing that seems to set this location apart is that the staff is über friendly. That’s definitely a plus for me! Note that this Starbucks location doesn’t have alot of seating, so it’s really not the place you’d want to plop down with your laptop and work. However, if you want to stop in and grab a quick cup of java to go, this is the place to go.

Super busy but the staff is efficient. I was disappointed when they were all out of the type of breakfast sandwich I wanted.

This location is convenient b/c its across the street from my job. However, its small & gets packed really quickly. It seems like they don’t have enough people working the line to handle the rush. I usually go during«off-peak» times so that I can be in & out fast.

The staff here keeps changing, and not for the best, but it’s a very busy location. Stay on top of your drink when waiting at the end, because it’s hectic and some times people will walk away with your drink order by mistake(or on purpose). Loads of tourist here so be warned. Sort of the reason I stopped coming was because of the annoying tourist. Most stare at the menu board like it had riddles… it’s freaking StarBucks! Same main ingredient as everywhere, COFFEE! I come here because I’ve received gift cards and it’s near my job, but I’ve limit my visits.
