Great little greek gem. I had the pork souvlaki and the veggie skewer, both delish! The skewers came with generous amount of pita and tzatziki(still dreaming about it). Next time I will most definitely have the Greek salad and the Greek fries, both looked SO good. The restaurant is super cozy and it feels like a piece of Greece. The restaurant filled up quite quick on a Tuesday afternoon. Prices are good, but you need more than one dish. Find someone to eat with and order to share!

What a great gem in LES! The interior & ambience of this cozy spot is extremely cute and relaxing. I came here last night around 7:30pm and it wasn’t too packed. The staff was very helpful & friendly! I’ve also never spent so little on a fulfilling meal that tasted this good, and my cravings were all satisfied. At first I didn’t expect too much from the pita wraps, but I am glad I was proven wrong. The SGR option adds a little spice to everything, which is perfect when combined with the tomatoes, onions, meat, and fries! The pita dip with yogurt & cucumber was more on the bland side, but it was a nice little healthy option before the main course. Would definitely come back and recommend to everyone!

I came here because this place is recommended in the nyt app. Anyway, I thought the food was ok, but nothing too special. The restaurant itself is just a little place with casual Greek décor. Definitely not a place for a romantic date or a big night out. I had two appetizers(meatballs and zucchini) and both were good, but small and about $ 11 each. I also had a pita with chicken and a few fries inside. The pita was only $ 8 but it was really small, about 50% smaller than you would expect. This and a beer came to $ 50 with tip and tax. The food was enough for me to leave satisfied, but this was definitely a light lunch. I thought this was expensive considering the amount and quality of the food. Still, this is a good little restaurant for a light lunch but probably not worth the price. That is all.

The ambience is great, makes you feel like you are in Greece! The tzatziki was perfect, food was good and they had many options for vegetarians. We had the spanakopita, fries, loukoumades and stuffed peppers and would recommend all of them.

Very tasty, but I thought the portions were rather small and was surprised that the chicken suvlaki doesn’t come with a side. I think it’s a little misleading to say«fries» next to it on the menu when that just means there are a couple INSIDE the suvlaki. Anyway, it was delicious. I was just left wanting a little bit.

Cute Greek restaurant in East Village. Came in here for a quick late lunch bite. We asked the waitress for some recommendations and she suggested a couple things. In the end we picked the Bifteki Pita(~$ 7) It was was basically a greek burger wrapped in a pita with sauce, onion, tomato, and feta cheese. There were a few garlic fries in there as well. When it first came I thought it was on the smaller side but I was super hungry. After eating like half of it I realized it was decently heavy. Super satisfied and super yummy!!! Food was quick to come, friendly service, and great prices!!! Def would come back to try other things including the hummus.

Super cute Greek restaurant; loved the décor Waiter was hilarious and gave us great recommendations If I came here again, id get the lamb chops, frappé coffee(it’s really unique), and mixed grilled vegetables(just for veggie reasons). We also got the stuffed homemade burger with cheese — was good but probably prefer lamb chops. The kebabs looked great too and the wine is pretty affordable!

I have walked by souvlaki gr a few times and finally decided to try the restaurant out. I ordered the beef, shrimp, pork and chicken skewer. Everything tastes good until I got up to my last skewer which was the chicken. I cut it open and the chicken was still raw inside. I called the waitress over and all the feedback she can offer was that this is normal. How is PINK chicken normal under any circumstances. I asked to have the skewer swapped for a different one and was refused. Safe to say I’ll never eat here again.

Although I’ve never been to Greece, I love how the restaurant décor makes me feel like I am! Very cute spot. Prices here are actually quite decent. A chicken souvlaki pita comes at about $ 7 — not bad, but also not very filling in my opinion. I’d probably be able to eat two of these to feel full. Despite the size, the souvlaki itself tastes great! The fries and tzatziki inside are delicious, and the chicken is juicy! Good spot to check out, either to satisfy your drunchies, or a quick bite to eat before a night of drinking.

This little nook on the LES is probably awesome for take out, but if you have the time and want to have a great little date, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Greece for an hour. The interior of the restaurant is decorated to look like white and blue Cycladic island houses, so you really feel like you’ve left New York behind. We split 3 dips(hummus, tazkiki, and garlic dip), the GR gyro, and skewers, and they were all fantastic. And the entire meal, with drinks, was under $ 60! We will definitely be returning to this summery getaway soon.

This is my second time here and I have come to the conclusion that I absolutely love this place! The interior is cute, food is good and it’s inexpensive. What’s not to like? I came with my best friend and we really enjoyed the food. We got the chicken souvlaki(I got the spicy feta cheese one), beef skewer and Greek fries. The Greek fries were amazing. Definitely a place to try out if you’re around the lower east side area!

Paidia!!! What a tease. All my little heart yearns for is summer and specifically, summer in GR. The low lighting, bottles of Mythos, and chatter with wafts of grilled everything made me want to rip my clothes off and lay on a beach… with a pita sandwich stuffed to the gills with tzatziki, french fries, red onion, tomato and copious feta in my hand. The sobering reality of my winter coat and turtleneck sweater brought me back to earth and the month of March. Our pikilia spreads were like scoops of gelato surrounded by tons of pita triangles. Greeks will NEVER make you ask for more bread or pita. The owners know what they’re doing. Piperies gemistes(stuffed horn peppers) are a must try especially if you’re a veggie. With the summer vacation so many months away, I’m sure there will be lots more opportunities for SGR to help me pretend it’s already here. Teleio fagito!

This is my billionth time here. Small restaurant interior decorated like the streets of Greece. The tables are too closed together and is always super crowded. When you come here you have to order Greek fries, pitas, and meat skewers. They are bomb. I love the feta cheese on the fries and the cheesy feta dipping sauce. Everything taste good here!

The spicy feta spread is delicious! So is their tzaziki sauce. The food here is definitely authentic and prepared quickly with a lot of flavor

I came here on a weekday afternoon and it was empty. Service was okay, I did end up getting a glass with lipstick stains… I’m giving this place 4 stars because of the food and the ambience. I really felt like I was in Greece while eating here. Although the prices were definitely not Greece prices, the food was tasty and I would come back.

After eating at their food truck for years, I finally went to one of their eat in restaurants. I showed with friends on a Friday night without reservations, but they were able to seat us in about 20mins. The décor gives the feel that you’re in the Greek islands without it being over the top. Their servers are all Greek which made communication a little challenging at times, but they were great, attentive and friendly. We started with hummus and spicy feta spread which came with hot fresh pita. The hummus was hand made and had a coarse texture that I love. The spicy feta was the star for me though. Tangy, salty and spicy and we stopped short of licking the plate clean. We then got a chicken and a pork souvlaki pita and horiatiki salad. Both the chicken and pork were thoroughly seasoned, tender and moist. Their pita which is warm and fresh makes all the difference as baked and bagged pita would detract from the sandwich. The salad was overflowing with cucumbers and feta and came with fresh pita. We finished up with baklava and loukoumades(fried dough). Both were great. The baklava wasn’t too sweet and very flaky. The loukoumades were freshly made and served in a pool of honey syrup. Next time, I’m getting a side of green fries which look incredible.

My husband and I are still not quite over our honeymoon. I know it’s been almost 2 years but we are obsessed! We came to souvlaki GR on Valentine’s Day for the décor and food as a little reminder of our honeymoon. Although we didn’t go to Mykonos, the city itself pretty much looked the same as Santorini which we did go to! The restaurant’s décor was adorable! It really felt as if we were back on the Greek island eating at one of the locals. My husband and I ordered a variety of items to share and were not disappointed! We had spinach pies, cheese pies(which both came in orders of 3), salmon roe dip(came with half a dozen of grilled herb pita), chicken kabob, pork kabob(kabobs served with yogurt and regular pita), and the specialty chicken souvlaki wrap. Two orders of pies were way too much food to begin with. I thought the cheese one tasted too minty? Nevertheless still delicious. Wished the pies were served with a sauce. I’m a saucy girl. The kabobs were tender and juicy. The salmon roe dip tasted a bit like lox cream cheese. Spreading them over the grilled pita tasted pretty much the same as eating bagels. We were beyond stuffed and had a whole box of leftovers to take home! We didn’t get to try their desserts since we were one of their first customers — we were quoted 30 mins for some fried donuts. Next time! Overall — although we were frozen cold and had to eat the whole meal with our coats, scarves, hats on(their heater was not working), my husband left with the biggest, beaming smile on his face. Happy husband, happy wife. Would definitely be back!

I’ve had loukaniko both times I’ve been(the pita and some platter type thing) and they’ve been great! The meals were a lot more filling than they look, probably because it’s pork sausages. The place is extremely small, which makes it awkward when people are trying to get to their seats and every single chair and table wobbles. I’m unsure whether this is part of the ambiance, but it certainly does not detract from the food.

Service was average, food was alright. We had the chicken and pork skewers and both turned out pleasantly moist. Pita was seasoned with garlic, which was a nice touch. We also had the feta fournou, which was a little disappointing. It was a half-inch thick layer of feta cheese, baked on tin foil, served with diced tomatoes. But, the feta was burnt on the tin foil, and would stick, so essentially every bite of feta was laced with a hearty portion of tin foil. Also ordered the yogurt as a dessert — that was SO good, except a little too heavy as a dessert. I would probably eat it as a full meal for lunch. Prices were excellent though, I would come back!

Came here for dinner one Friday night with a girlfriend and it we pretty packed! I was glad we thought to make reservations. The restaurant from the moment you walk in is so captivating and unique. Though I’ve never been to Greece, my friend has, and said it looked just like you were strolling down their cobble stone streets. From the stone floors, romantic lighting, and cozy seating arrangements, this place was such a sweet secret sitting in the LES. The food was just as great and not to mention very affordable. We just wanted something light that night so we ordered two gyros and two drinks for $ 30. What?! No argument there. My friend had a beer and I ordered a frappé coffee drink with a shot of baileys. Such a yummy treat! I’d definitely recommend this place as a date spot cause it has such a romance to it. Or really if you just want great food at a great price, that works too!

Made a reservation since I was coming with a big-ish party. The outside and inside décor was absolutely adorable! It reminded me of Santorini :) We got the Greek fries and Greek salad to share. The Greek fries were pretty good– basically just fries drowned in feta cheese. The Greek salad was good too, and came with a billion pita slices(can’t complain about that!). I had the chicken souvlaki pita, which was very yummy! Everyone in my party enjoyed the food. Plus, the price is great! Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu!

My friend and I stopped by this little gem before our volleyball game for a quick bite. We ordered the lamb chops and they were perfect. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned! Everything was just perfect. We wish we had more time, otherwise we would’ve tried so many other dishes. Need to come back again and try the rest of the items on the menu!

I could feed a Grecian urn w/how much feta was in this wrap. No go no go no go. *Ring* It’s a sheep calling, he wants literally any of his milk back. Fries are fly– for some white guys.

We came here during a weeknight and found this place welcoming. The ambiance screams Greece with its blue and white colors and pergolas full of flowers. For food, we did an assortment of items. We tried the Greek fries(simple but good), the eggplant, spicy feta dips(all served with pita and my favorite was the eggplant), baked feta with peppers(this was excellent), chicken sovulaki(simple but good), bifteki(burger on pita which was ok) and to wrap the meal up we had donuts with honey and walnuts(awesome way to end the meal). Overall, the service was friendly, atmosphere was inviting and food was good. For everything we ate and drank, the prices were very reasonable and I will be sure to come back. Buon appetito.

The SGR Souvlaki Pita $ 7.00(Tomato, red onions, fries and tyrokafteri(spicy feta dip) wrapped in pita bread.) was really smaller than what you’d expect from its counterparts, but pretty tasty & fresh. Mind the very narrow doors when entering & exiting.

SGR, where have you been all this time? I am in the LES a lot for work and play and have not come across in mention or otherwise this Mediterranean gem. But no more — my friends and I wandered upon this verdant storefront last night which immediately caught my eye as a flashback to our Santorini vacation. The stark white stone and aegean blue doors and window frames lured us in, and the warm service and excellent food did the rest. Inside, twinkly lights, and bougainvillea bloom wild overhead, rendering the space a garden of delights. Big smiles greeted us and we were shown to a table near the kitchen in the back which was cozy and not too disruptive for conversation. We immediately ordered the 3 spreads — spicy feta, hummus, and tzatziki — which came with a fan of freshly baked and seasoned pita slices. We dug in, and then quickly made room for the spanikopita that accompanied the starter dips. I would say that the mezedes were authentic, homemade deliciousness, while the spinach pie was also flavorful, but a bit disappointing in portion — 3 modest triangles for our table of 4. The mains for the table were the double Greek burgers stuffed w cheese, scallion and dill that oozed Mykonos soulfulness and a couple of the shrimp pitas, and the hand cut greek fries(sprinkled generously w feta and seasoned w oregano). Those pitas were perfection from the first bite — w big shrimp pieces, onions and some fries — the textures and taste felt like home and adventure all in one. SGR, my heart(and stomach) sings at the memory still of that meal; see you again soon.

Oh my LORD. The food here is FANTASTIC. I haven’t been to this establishment but my friend and I got take out from here while visiting New York and the chicken gyro type dish is probably the best I’ve ever had. The chicken was so amazingly tender and flavorful(I’m drooling a little just thinking about it). And… wait for it… its $ 6. Need I say more? EATHERE. The Greek salad is also amazing and they are VERY generous with the feta cheese. I will most certainly be back next time I’m in New York.

Seen their truck all over the city especially in the summer but I never got the chance to go until now. So I went in, the first thing you noticed is the décor, very traditional, you would think somehow you left gritty New York and teleported to beautiful sunny Greece. Today it was empty in there, though they look ready for dinner service. I ordered the SGR Souvlaki with Chicken, not a long wait and the cashier was friendly and respectful. I took one bite of it and I was in love, the chicken was well seasoned and the spicy feta made it even better. Then again to me everything tastes better with feta, I could eat it all day. The whole combination of the chicken, pita, feta, tomatoes and oregano was prefect. That alone would make me come back to dine in.

A Heavenly Hellenic oasis that will transport you to Santorini. I grew up in a Greek household surrounded by my Yiayia’s cooking, and this place hit me in all the nostalgic spots. We ordered the chickpea salad, veggie and shrimp skewers, keftedes(Greek meatballs) and a gargantuan portion of Greek fries loaded with feta. They are generous with the delicious warm pita bread, addictive tzatziki, and creamy feta. All was to die for, and I will be back soon to try more!

Absolutely amazing!!! I bought a groupon for this place and I am so glad I did!!! The food is truly amazing. I came for a lunch date with my boyfriend and this is one of those places that went above and beyond my expectations. We entered and this place instantly transports you to Greece. It’s painted blue and white and has the nicest ambience. We came for lunch and we were the only ones in the restaurant. It was a nice treat to have al the attention on us. Our server was very nice. For lunch we ordered the hummus, the chickpea salad, the Greek fries and the mixed grill. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! My favorites were the Greek fries it was my first time having it and I had to fight my boyfriend for the last bites. They also had a nice selection of Greek wine was very nice also. I absolutely loved this place and will be back again and again to partake in more of their offerings. Oh and the pita bread… Jesus Christmas it’s good!
