Great soups! My favorite one is chicken gumbo but all the ones I’ve tried were delicious. Hoping he will be back soon!

Chicken dumpling & lobster bisque are amazing! Come atleast twice a week in the winter & the price is great for the serving size. Not sure what the seasonal schedule is, but all i know is i miss this guy and hope its cold enough soon for the cart to be back!

Great soup for very fair prices. I’ve only tried the lobster bisque for 12oz($ 6) and got a very decent sized roll with it too. Compared to other lunch spots that offer soup, this cart has the most variety. The cup is also filled all the way to the top so it’s definitely not a rip-off. The only thing is that the cart will be gone by 2:30pm or not be there at all.

Huge selection of soups for a food cart. About 10 total on the menu. Got a small 120z lobster bisque for $ 6(bisque is $ 1 extra) Comes with napkins, spoon, and fresh roll for dipping. Soup was real good and piping hot. Very creamy with small bits of seafood. I recommend paying the 1 – 2 extra dollars for a medium or large.

Really delicious soup and a soft roll for great prices. I normally get a 16oz and it’s only $ 6, and it comes with a soft roll. Soups are still piping hot by the time I bring it back to the office. If you want something warm and hearty, try this soup cart.

I come here almost every day. The rolls he gives with the soup are so fresh and delicious. Oh and the soups are great too :) I’m always full on a small with the bread, so it’s a nice cheap lunch for Manhattan.

Best soup in midtown. Unassuming cart. The tomato bisque is great. So is the chicken noodle. Won’t be disappointed with most of the soups. Wasn’t a fan of the ravioli soup though.

I love a cup of piping hot soup on a raw cold day. I am very sensitive to the taste and how I feel from preservatives and I don’t feel any adverse reactions to any of the soups I tried. Last year I loved the Jerk Chicken, Lobster Bisque, and Ravioli soups. Now that I am vegetarian I am happy to see that they have some«no meat» options like Lentil and Split Pea. You always get a generous portion(soup filled to the brim) and it is always still steamy when I make it back to the office. There are 3 size options(12oz, 16oz, and 32oz)

MMMMM Soup! It just started to get cold in NYC and that means soup weather! Being in midtown there are a plethora of delis and chains with soup, but most seemingly being overpriced a bit. Luckily the soup cart is a few minutes walk from my office to offer me a variety of more than 10 soups to pick from. Way better than the soup du jour at said deli. I’ll update as I try more soups but you can’t go wrong with $ 6 for a 16oz soup and piece of bread. Pasta Fagioli had nice flavor and was very hearty with pasta, veggies, and beans. And it was piping hot even after a 10 minute walk back to the office!

I’m so glad I found my replacement for The Soup Spot down in Herald Square, because that hike was just too far from Times Square. This soup cart is close to both Times Square and Rockefeller workers. They have a large selection of delicious soups, $ 5 for a 12 oz soup and some a $ 1 more for the higher end soups. But still very worth it for the price and amount that the guy gives you. The cup is filled all the way to the top and served with a roll for dipping :) nice lunch option for those cold days to come. I only wish he delivered and if he had a website tells me what were his daily soup… possible iphone app!

Soup cart did not disappoint. Needed to get out of the office, so did a quick Unilocal search for soup which lead me here. Opted for the lentil soup. Had only planned on eating half, but once I got started I could not stop. Lentils were well cooked, and the soup was hearty, very hearty, not just a few lentils swimming in some veggie stock, but literally chock full of lentils, thick and with great flavor. If you want soup, don’t settle for a café with one sucky soup of the day offering. Leave soup to the pros, and head for Soup Cart.

Awesome chicken noodle soup, perfect for the end of a cold on a NY winter day. Gave me lots of saltine crackers and the price was right. I’ll be back to try the other soups!

It’s so cold in NYC right now. On Tuesday, I needed some soup STAT. But it can get pretty expensive at some places in Manhattan like Hale & Hearty. Call me cheap(I DAREYOU~!!!). But i just feel like a tool if i pay more than $ 7 for a 16oz soup from a deli or café. Maybe it’s because I’m Asian and there are plenty of noodle soup options at restaurants which are made to order and very filling for about the same price. But good thing I stumbled across this soup cart as there’s definitely value here… So i ordered a 16oz Boston clam chowder with 2 complimentary breads for $ 5.50 + 50 cents for an extra bread: The vendor exhibited ladling mastery as the soup was packed to the brim without any spillage: The potatoes and cream were on the low side, but the soup was still very good. Sure the prices are about the same as a Café Europa. But the cart’s soup has the vendor’s personal touch to it and i like supporting small businesses whenever i can. I also like the different types of bread available: The selection is much better than the dinky pieces The Original Soupman gives. But i would recommend not ordering an extra slice like i did as two pieces for a 16oz soup is more than enough for even a serious dunker like me. The soup was so good i ordered it again yesterday(Wednesday). Here’s a shot of the roll he gave me: Summary: Great soup here. I like it~!

Working in the neighborhood for a few weeks presented no shortage of lunchtime options. A particular surprise was the Soup Cart; it made me a fan very quickly. Beneath a red awning is a single vendor and his rotating menu of a dozen hot soups. The idea of soup for lunch appealed to me, and I thought that split pea would be a good first try. Served hot, not just warm, with a crusty commercial dinner roll, I went with the 16 oz.($ 5.50) medium size. As far as split pea soup goes, it far surpassed the canned variety and approached good homemade soup; thick, with a nice bit of smokey flavor, but not one-dimensional. The vendor was obviously working hard, and had no patience for small talk, but thanked me for the business. A few days later I went back for the lobster bisque, slightly more expensive, but also very good. There is always something comforting about a hot bowl of soup, and the Soup Cart nicely filled that need.

I was feeling a little under the weather and craving something hot… lobster bisque to be exact! Unilocal helped me find this food stand that was two train stops away and I was amazed at the quantity of soups this guy had! I ordered a 16oz Lobster Bisque for 5.50 and asked for two rolls. To my amazement it was delicious! So delicious that I think I will return tomorrow!

This was my first time to the soup truck. I’m thinking maybe a 3.5 star is appropriate, but I’ll round up. I wanted to try the famed chicken dumpling, but it wasn’t listed. Instead, I got the lobster/crab bisque. It’s not too heavy(all things considered) and it’s not fishy(the worst!). Admittedly, I like when people cheat bisques and really make them chowders by adding huge chunks of seafood. This was definitely a smooth bisque and not a chowder. Still, it was decicious.

I love soup. I am obsessed with soup. I thrive on soup. This soup cart fulfills all my illicit soup fantasies. 10+ soups in ONE place? Love. Withholding that one star until I try other soups. I got the tomato bisque today and it was the best I’ve had in a really, really long time. Nice and creamy and super tomato-ey. Mmm. And the nice soup man gave me two rolls as I went way after lunch rush. I suppose he was trying to get rid of them. But were they stale? NOTATALL. Will go back to try the chicken and dumpling soup that the other reviewers have raved about.

Amazing soups. Well 1 soup so far since today was my first time. I had the chicken and dumpling and it was amazing. The consistancy of the soup was perfect. And the price was great as well. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I need to try some other soups before I feel comfortable giving out that rating. And it shouldn’t be a problem getting me back because of the 12 – 15 soups, there were at least 5 that looked amazing and only 1 or 2 that I wouln’t try. I do wish it came with a bigger piece of bread, a banana, and a cookie like at Fashion Soup, but the price is low enough where I could easily stop by a fruit stand and grab a cookie from my lobby on the way back to the office and still feel like I got a cheap lunch. Update: I just went back for a second time and I decided to get two small soups instead of one large so I could try more than one. And I got 2 rolls which is nice. I went with the Italian Wedding and the Beef Barley. I did not know what italian wedding was but I imagined it to be along the lines of minestrone. I was wrong. I did not like the soup but I don’t know what it is supposed to taste like so I don’t feel like I can judge it fairly. The beef barley was pretty good. The broth was very strong. The Chicken Dumpling is still my favorite so far but I have many more soups to try. Update: Went back again and got the chicken gumbo and ravioli soup. They were both amazing. I think it was because I was alternating spoonfuls of each and they complimented each other well. The spicy gumbo would balance out the strong tomato flavor of the ravioli soup. The ravioli pieces in the soup were really soft, reminded me of Chef Boyardee canned ravioli I would eat when I was in elementary school. Update: Once again the soup cart called to me for lunch. I tried Chicken Jerk and Pasta Fagioli soup. Both were tasty. The Chicken Jerk was very thick and hearty. The Pasta Fagioli had strong tomato and beef flavor. I would have preffered the beef to be toned down a bit but it was still good. My Soup Ratings: ***** Chicken Dumpling ***** Ravioli Soup **** Pasta Fagioli Soup **** Chicken Gumbo *** Chicken Jerk *** Beef Barley * Italian Wedding

Too bad the cart is only here during the fall/winter/spring months. There are some pretty good soups, and the prices are great. The bread that comes with the soup is also soft and delicious. I have had chicken jerk, turkey chili, clam chowder, lobster bisque, corn chowder, cheddar and broccoli, and a few other ones. I have never had one that is not good. I don’t have a regular item as I am always intrigued by another offering on the menu. If you are in the area and it is cold out look for this cart, it is a nice break from Hale & Hearty

I extended my food stand streak to 3 lunches in a row today — trudging a ½ block to this stand with a big red banner exclaming«SOUP». Under the hood is one guy. I figure he has 2 soups and I’ll probably pass by it but the menu has like 15 soups. WTF? This guy is a mobile Hale & Hearty. I scan the list and it’s pretty tempting — Chicken Gumbo, Boston Clam Chowder, Pasta Fagiole, Lobster Bisque(wait…Lobster Bisque? who in their right mind would eat lobster bisque from a street cart? it’s like urban professional Fear Factor.). So I keep it safe and order the Pasta Fagiole. $ 5 for 16 oz. w/a complementary roll. Seems about on par w/Hale & Hearty. I gotta admit — this was a very good Pasta Fagiole. I’m not saying it would pass at an Italian restaurant but this could easily have passed for an Hale & Hearty soup. Given this guy didn’t have a line(like H&H) and was doling out soup in a snowstorm, I’m giving 3 ½ stars for the soup and a ½ star for moxie.
