When I worked in the city… This was my go to place for breakfast. If I had to work late this was the best place closest to my job to go where my money was well spent. I am one who does not mind paying for good food. That being said this place is on the expensive side but well worth every penny. My favorites were the greasy burgers and the awesome grill cheese with pickles on the side… Now that I’m back in the city I will be stopping by to make up for list time. I hope it’s still being operated by the same family…

Old school café. Great to listen in on the guy behind the counter gossiping with customers about John. John: whoever you are, I hope you finally sort it out with that lady of yours. Coffee was so-so.

Soup Burg is where we iron workers go to have breakfast after serving our time at the union hall. Being out of work during the coldest months of winter can really get your appetite up and the breakfast menu at Soup Burg hits the spot. You’ll find all of your standards here-pancakes, bacon and sausage, Belgian waffles, omelets prepared any way you like, juice, coffee, etc. Cozy and homey feel to this restaurant. Lunch and dinner are also offered but I haven’t tried any of it. Again, the food here is standard not outstanding but it satisfies the tummy. Staff is very warm and blue-collar friendly, although all are welcome to dine here even the suit and tie set.

My mother was in the hospital and this diner was a block away from it so hubby and I went in for a bite to eat for lunch. This is a small place, but it’s cozy and casual. We had a booth but there is also a counter where you can sit and the line cooks are cooking on a flat top grill behind the counter in full view of the customers. I had the cream of broccoli soup, hubby had a hamburger, and we both had hot chocolates. Our waiter was very attentive to us and the cream of broccoli soup was quite possibly the best I had in my life, very flavorful, nice size pieces of broccoli, and it was piping hot, and NOT microwaved as I could see the preparation. This is always a great sign, I hate paying for microwaved food. Hubby’s burger was a giant patty that totally dwarfed the bun, but he said it was juicy and cooked well. Overall we had a good experience too, our check was a reasonable $ 18, and we both left full. It’s nice to know you can get some affordable and tasty food on the upper east side.

First of all SOUP burg only has ONE soup available per day. That’s weird if you ask me! This is basically just a run of the mill diner like the ones you can find on basically every block. The table we were about to be sat at had water dripping down on the seat form above… not good. Despite the place being virtually, my friend and I didn’t have very good service. It was okay to spotty. They do serve some of their breakfast items all throughout the day, and I was really in the mood for pancakes. The blueberry pancakes were good, they came out nice and fresh. My friend got a baked potato with chili and it was good too, nothing too crazy. My biggest complaint is that i was way over priced!!! Mine ended up being almost $ 15 dollars! I’m sorry that’s just too much. They apparently have really good burgers, but I didn’t try those so I can’t speak for that. Anyway you’ve probably have had better of everything they serve somewhere else!

Cute place for a slightly chilly spring evening to have burgers and soup. Way out of way for us however, since we were at the Whitney it was doable. Won’t be coming back though unless in the neighborhood.

Amazingly life changing angus burgers, without fillers, and fresh! Taste one and you’ll wonder what you’ve been eating before.

The sad thing about my downgrading this place is I’ve been coming here for way longer than the current owners have had the place, and I think I have more attachment to the place than they do, judging by the shoddy way they handle their business. I knew the tuna was rotten and I tried to send it back but the manager said it looked fine to him and refused. Who does that? Anyway stuck with my stinky tuna salad I tried to at a few bites. As soon as the sandwich hit my stomach it rebelled. I raced to the bathroom but it was out of order. I threw some money at the register and ran, but I barely made it out the door before I had a tremendous, messy accident. I guess it is a good thing Lenox Hill Hospital is across the street as I sit here in the ER, my shoes covered in my own feces, wracked with stomach cramps. Plus while I was waiting for my food the manager called some lady a bitch for no apparent reason. The whole thing was awful.

No. ordered their chili because i was in the mood, but dang. they really don’t know how to make chili. I think canned chili tastes even better than this stuff. The chili they made was 1) bland 2) chunky and not even the good kind 3) meat was so hard to chew I don’t even know what was wrong with it. It tasted like BEANSTEW… It was pricey too for that low quality food. Not to be like a complete a-hole, but I think that’s what dog food tastes like.

The place a bit dark inside which isn’t good. However it’s pretty quite even with some noise outside. Nothing special about food. All burger are ok, no more. Prices are ok too, but for that kind of food should be a bit cheaper.

This place is a cozy little spot in the UES that serves up all of the typical diner eats at regular diner prices(always a blessing in NYC). Service is quick and abrupt, they’ll take your order speedy quick and it’ll be plated within minutes. The décor is minimal and the feel is much more old-school, but they’ve got plenty of options to please just about everyone in your crowd. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap on a spinach tortilla(they were out of the whole wheat tortillas) and it was all right. Please note that«all right» is the highest rating I’m going to give when I’m choosing healthier fare in the midst of pancakes and burgers galore offerings. I mean, how fantastic can grilled chicken get? The lettuce and tomatoes were very crisp and fresh, they left the bacon out and mayo on the side per my requests. Although soup is in their name, they don’t have many soup options at all. They have daily soup specials the server will tell you about when you place your order and that is about it. My sister was very happy with her order of chicken + rice soup.

No-frills Diner. Nice staff, decent food. Kind of a local spot. I dig it.

A solid greasy spoon; if you stick to diner food you will have a good meal that is served quickly. Prices are a bit high but that is just how it goes in the city. French fries and coffee are both very strong– critical for a diner.

Nothing like a good greasy spoon to start off your day. Nice breakfast in an old school little diner. This place has been around in some sort of incarnation at this location since 1949. Funny name though as this is actually a diner and not a soup place. You will not find the«Soup Nazi» here barking out rules and orders. «No Soup For You!» It’s a clean little diner that has a few tables in it along the narrow space along the far wall, and a small counter seating area across from it. I always like sitting at the counter when eating alone to watch the grill chefs work their magic slinging the hash and eggs around. Friendly group of guys who work here that will keep your coffee cup filled and can make you pretty much anything you want, even if it is not on the menu. Nice selection of reasonably priced breakfast specials under $ 10 that include coffee and juice. Scrambled egg whites, tasty hash brown potatoes, whole wheat toast, OJ, and hot coffee for less than ten bucks. 77th street subway stop is close by to eat quickly and head off to work. Seems like many old-time regulars stop in at the place from what I saw. Every neighborhood should have one of these easy going simple throwbacks.

Totally decent soup and service. Not too pricey, the location doesn’t suck… good enough for a soup break in the brutal New York winter.

Typical NYC Greek diner in a great location. Breakfast food was good. Service was quick. Just steps from Lenox Hill Hospital and their top ranked emergency room in case something you drank last night was not neutralized by coffee and grease.

Great find in this crazy city. Food is excellen, reasonably priced, but the best part is the friendly service and great work attitude. Nothing was left to chance, our drinks were constantly filled and I get askd every 8 mins if everything is ok. A plus all th way, definitly recommended to anyone with an appetite for good food. When I’m in this area, I always stop by to see my friends at soup burg. Its that kind of place

Soup Burg looked like it was a good place for lunch, especially considering it was crowded. In reality, once stepping inside, anyone would realize the tables were literally right on top of each other. After squeezing into the chairs at a table, my friend and I decided instead of ordering and waiting for the third person(who would basically have to sit on the floor), to just have coffee. He ordered a milkshake and thought it was OK, and I asked for an iced coffee and she brough me back a lukewarm cup of regular coffee in a mug, with no ice. Never again. Lenox Hill Diner literally across the street toward 78th is much better and more spacious. Right outside the 77th Street 6 Station.

I have only been here once, and it was a take-out, so I don’t know how accurate my experience is to the usual fare. We ordered onion rings and french fries and they were both overpriced for the portion and quality. The fries didn’t taste salted at all, and the onion rings were the little kind that no place should serve. Heard their burgers are good, but don’t know… We did pick the food up and the staff was very friendly…
