I recently was able to spend some time at the Soho House courtesy of a friend invite, and I really enjoyed my first visit there. I actually didn’t realize how exclusive it was, or how big a deal it was to hang out there, until I mentioned it to a few other friends of mine from the city. Each of them spoke highly of the venue and the space as well of their experiences there in the past. We met mid-afternoon on a Wednesday, and I was surprised how crowded it was! The atmosphere was really cool and kind of had a throwback feel & vibe. Think of any exclusive, NYC social club you would imagine seeing in a movie — and that’s EXACTLY what the Soho House looks and feels like on the inside! It definitely feels«cool» and like you’re a part of something different. There were 3 of us and honestly, it was so packed that it really difficult to find a comfortable spot for the 3 of us to get a small table and seats to chat. We were able to grab a spot, ordered drinks and apps and the server was prompt and courteous. Everything was great I really enjoyed my time there. If you can get in, you should check it out!

It’s a great place, I love having brunch here, service is good, nice crowd and yes you need to be either member or a guest of a member to get in.

Apart from all the who-ha of getting your foot in the door here, I just want to say Its well worth it. Yes, there’s exclusivity and being that its members-only, it’s hard to get in if you don’t know someone. But you see why and appreciate this when you’re inside! It’s a beautiful venue, the space is well designed and the layout keeps it open yet cozy. Attention to detail is key here, everything from the drink garnishes to the beautiful furniture. There’s a level of elegance palpable from the moment you come to the moment you leave. Reasonable, diverse menu. Super attentive, friendly staff. Superb drinks. Relaxing yet buzzing atmosphere. Good mixed crowd. No rowdiness, it really is a beautiful experience being there. We came in a group for dinner and I’d def come back for the same again. I love the whole aura and vibe of this place.

Some find Soho house to be pretentious but I couldn’t disagree more. Yes, it’s a membership only establishment but the service is always warm, friendly and accommodating. I come to Soho House for several reasons: 1. To work on projects in an environment that is equally stimulating yet relaxing. I love sitting in the Vinyl Room with my laptop and a glass of wine and a cheese plate. The fresh burrata is a great choice as are the shoshito peppers. You also can’t go wrong with the carmelized onion dip and fresh chips. 2. Entertaining family/freinds for a relaxed dinner and drinks. 3. Business meetings — Let’s keep it real. This place is an impressive place to take a prospective client. The ambience is conducive to equal parts productivity and entertainment. A few other observations: The rooftop pool is fantastic. The Los Angeles location doesn’t have a pool, which is odd to me. I wish the NY location offered the truffle pizza that the Miami location has. I mean, its’s NYC, why don’t they have the pizza?

Food & Drink Good beer selection, but it is one of those bars that smells like day old piss is just around the corner. It was so bad we did not want to eat anything there. Atmosphere See above. Gross. Service Quick and easy.

I went to see DJ Journey here this past Friday. He was great. But, as excellent as he was… the guys at the front desk were rude. I was specifically astounded by how disrespectful the young Hispanic appearing man(not the tall one) was. When I tell you that I have never encountered staff so rude… The front desk staff is just atrociously rude. We just left and headed on over to Jimmy Soho – best decision of the night!

We got invited to have dinner with a couple friends(one of whom is a member) last night. It’s easy to miss where you go in, as the entrance is boxed up(as it gets to be colder), and there’s no sign outside that makes any mention of Soho House — but it’s right before you hit the beginning of Spice Market’s outdoor seating. The folks at reception are a bit on the cool side — off-putting, I suppose, but hey, it’s an ‘exclusive’ club, so whatever. We got off at the 6th floor for dinner, and to be honest, the décor is pretty nice. It has a very homey feel to it, with very plush booth seating, along with big chairs you can plop yourself down in and relax. With low ceilings that look like they are peeling(I feel like this is intentional), as well as old glass dividers and chandeliers from a bygone era, it definitely has a tad of a retro feel to it. Unfortunately, I do not get the sense that this place cares much beyond appearances when it comes to presentation and service, though. As others have noted, the service here is pretty freakin’ awful… our first interaction with a waiter was when one literally dropped a piece of sliced focaccia bread on a plate in front of me and walked off without saying a word. The rest of our food came out in an orderly fashion for the most part, although it took us a LONG time to even get our food order in because our ‘waiter’(if you can say that, given he did not serve us the vast majority of our food or drink). Additionally — apparently they have board games here(which was part of the allure of coming originally)…yet our Scrabble box had way too many letters and no board. We were given ‘Operation’ as a backup, and it clearly didn’t work. Aside from all the problems I have that were not food-related, the food and drinks here are actually pretty decent. All 3 cocktails that I had were very well-crafted, if a bit strong on the liquor side and less on the mixers and bitters. We shared a bottle of Malbec that probably would have done better sitting in a decanter the whole time but was alright. We ended up splitting the food, and aside from the aforementioned focaccia(which was actually not that good — a bit stale and carelessly drizzled with olive oil), things definitely turned up once the food was down. The fried cauliflower was one of my favorites, with some spicy mayo rounding out the flavor very nicely when combined with the fried crispiness. The meatballs were fantastic — very juicy beef meatballs that were bathing in a rich tomato sauce(although 4 for $ 14 was not really great value compared to a spot like TMS). The cacio y pepe was solid enough, if not as memorable as at other, more Italian-oriented restaurants I have been to. Both the salmon and the duck(the main courses we ordered) were well-cooked; the duck in particular had a nice crisp to it, and the salmon was cooked just right as well — still a bit of rawness to it and not overcooked such that it had dry texture. My only general observation, across almost all the dishes, is that the sauces and the marinades used were very heavy /mayo-based. Not the worst thing in the world, but it suggests that there was more of a reliance on dousing the food with sauces to bring out the flavors instead of infusing them into the main parts of the dishes themselves. We finished up with a plate of cookies for desert; the oatmeal-based chocolate chip cookie was pretty solid, although I would still take Potbelly’s version. Definitely an interesting place to eat and dine, and one that, if it were open to the general public, I could see myself coming here more frequently if that were the case. That said, the service has got to improve; I suppose that once you pay the membership fee, the people who work here simply . Being a restaurant is not only about the food, but the service as well… if I was expecting people to not give two hoots about me, there are plenty of restaurants down in Chinatown where I can go that will cost me a fraction of what our bill here ended up being. On a food basis alone, this place is probably 3.5 stars, but I have to knock the rating down because the service was so abjectly apathetic.

One of the best. From the Mad Men-esque bars to the roof top pool, this place is perfect. Please, please, please bring Soho House to San Francisco!

I cannot even begin to express my dissatisfaction. Although it is a beautiful space and property, this place is obviously lacking in service, to put it lightly. My husband and I are not members, but were seriously thinking of becoming one. We came here for a movie screening, and wanted to head up to the rooftop to grab a drink and something to eat. We got drinks while we waited for a table, my husband went to check in with the host who then gave him a table. He set down his half full drink to come grab me, when we got to the table, his drink was gone. We then waited for about 10 minutes to even get menus, we were about to leave when our server comes and just says«Hi! You want menus?». We also explain to her what happened to my husband’s drink, for which her response is to then interrogate us about being members, we explain to her we are not and came from a screening. So we get menus, my husband finally gets another drink, and of course ten minutes later we have to flag her down to place our order. Not a single«how are you tonight?» «Do you have any questions about the menu?» Nothing. We then finally receive our food(of course brought out by someone else). I mention to my husband they must be backed up tonight. Then, I look at the table next to us. The server was engaging toward them, she apologized for their having to wait, they received menus immediately, and their food probably within 10 minutes. I began to notice that she was extremely attentive to every single table in her area, except ours. She literally made a point of passing over our table every time she walked around. And not a single«how is everything?”-she didn’t check on us once. At this point I was already so annoyed. When we received the bill she(of course) charged us for the drink that was picked up, and overcharged us for one of then entrees. I don’t believe I’ve ever even given less than a 20 percent tip before, but this was the final straw. We circled these items on the bill and made note of the mischarges, and left her $ 5(generous in my opinion). The next day my husband is glancing through his charges and realizes that she actually forged his tip and gave her self 20 percent! Note to Angel(the server): I am writing this review not because I care about a $ 16 drink, but out of pure principle. This is the United States, and we chose not to give you a tip not because we are cheap, but because you were a crappy server. Also-what you did is highly ILLEGAL, and we will be taking legal action to rectify this. I genuinely hope that we just had an immoral and shitty server, and that Soho House doesn’t condone this type of behavior, but needless to say, we will not be returning.

Came here on a weekday night for drinks. I was surprised at how many people were in both the drawing room and rooftop! The space is relatively large but pretty packed. There was live music and pretty loud/hot in the drawing room. The rooftop was pretty nice and had a small pool and strings of lights overhead. It was a pretty hot night but nobody was in the pool! The servers seemed really busy and were sometimes difficult to get ahold of. I tried the Soho Negroni and Paloma, which were both good but I liked the Paloma better(personally like any drink with grapefruit and it was good to have a cold refreshing drink on a hot night). The crowd seemed pretty average but I did notice that there were no other Asians. the atmosphere was very casual and the décor was rustic yet chic. Overall, Soho House was a fun place to hang out and get entertained!

The rooftop and the clubhouse both have personality, energy and«the scene»! We were surprised by how good the food was, and generally service was slow but we lucked out with at least a polite server. Fun place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon as the sun goes down!

When my friend told me that she could get me into this«swanky, members only» club — the first thing I could think of was WTF am I going to wear. I was shocked walking in — I was expecting a way more pretentious crowd. For some reason, I pictured it being filled with fashionista models & guys with pinstripe suits 2 sizes too small. I’m not sure if they have this every Wednesday night, but they had this awesome jazz band there. At first the music started slow, and then it picked up. It was SO fun! Every one was just jamming out and having a good time. I made the mistake of taking a picture inside? Apparently that isn’t allowed? COMMON, give me a break — Its not like beyonce & jay-z were chillin’ in the corner. Drinks were $ 15 a pop. and NOTSTRONG. I basically paid $ 100 for a few drinks(I also paid for my friends) and I wasn’t in the slightest bit buzzed. Hopefully I can get the«in» around summer time and check out the pool.

I was invited here with a member for dinner during the week and a lovely experience. The atmosphere is very shabby chic, with rustic ceilings/walls and countless chandeliers. Please note: they do not encourage photography here. The food was excellent! We ordered the calamari, the spinach salad, and avocado toast to start with. The calamari was very fresh and flavorful, and the spinach salad was perfectly dressed. The avocado with toast was also delicious, with a hint of lemon mixed. I ordered the salmon for an entrée which was very good and paired with greens and yams. We also ordered the carrots(which were delicious and beautifully presented) and broccolini to share at the table. For dessert, we had the carrot cake and cookies. Both were phenomenal! The carrot cake was moist topped with cream cheese icing and the cookies were soft and warm. I should also note the drink menu had a few specialty cocktails, which I also enjoyed! Overall, lovely environment, live music, excellent food and service.

I was invited by a member to Soho House last week for dinner. In my mind I expected to be run over by pretentiousness in my first experience at a private club like this. I am happy to review that it was nothing of the sort. As guests we were treated as well as any member. The line between guest and member is erased once you get past the front desk and enter the elevator. The staff is tremendously warm(appropriate because of the weather) and charming. From the hostesses, to the bartenders, to the servers, you name it and they made you feel at home. We dined in restaurant along with a round of drinks at the club bar. Again I walked into the meal thinking it would all be over priced and not well done because lets face it they already have the members money. Again I was proven wrong. We ordered a number of dishes to share among the 5 of us and all of them were well made and delicious except for maybe one. The Short rib ravioli and the fried brussels sprouts blew our socks off. I’m a huge fan of cacio de pepe but it was just ok for me. Good but not great. Sadly we ate and drank so much we didn’t have a chance to tour the rooftop like we planned because it got too late. I do plan to get my friend to take me back and make this a regular stop for me on my visits to NYC. If I ever get to a point in my life where club membership like this is an option I certainly plan to get on their waiting list ASAP. For now being a guest is pretty darn cool.

My boyfriend is a member of this club and we’ve stayed here countless times. I love the ambiance and the décor, very shabby chic and eclectic. The rooms are dark, but have great character. Some of my best mornings have been spent soaking in the huge clawfoot tub. Yes, this is a private club, so there are times when the places just screams money and exclusivity… But as a nice balance, everyone is so warm and the staff really is great(i.e. we show up to a packed house with no reservation and BOOM, «Your table is ready.» …or maybe my bf is more of a big shot than I know about lol). Love going, hate leaving.

Doesn’t really get more«finer things club» than scheming your way into Soho house and spending a summer afternoon pool side. The crowd is exactly what you’d expect: chic and pretentious, but also undeniably cool. The staff is really attentive(to be expected) and the space is gorgeous. I ordered a cucumber drink that was really refreshing and fairly strong. We also ordered some appetizers and everything was really tasty and moderately priced. The music was perfect, some lounge/house something or another. Ahhh, to have a membership here…

Smokey, this is not ‘Nam. This is the Soho House. There are rules. There are definitely rules here. As much as I hate myself for making this reference, when I was there I thought of the Sex and the City episode when the girls go to the Soho House roof deck pool under the guise of another member and they get called out on it. That didn’t happen to me, but the amount of verifying and confirming they make you do seemingly at every turn here is pretty annoying and insulting. I get that it’s a members only, exclusive destination, but damn. If you spent as much time worrying if my drink was full or if I was hungry as you did worrying if my buddy was abusing his guest allotment, I’d have been in good shape. All snark aside, the property is gorgeous. It’s impeccably designed and decorated. It’s like a livable Restoration Hardware exhibit, with bespoke everything and luxe trimmings at every turn. We had a bunch of drinks on the roof to start, then moved down to the club bar to have more drinks and get a bite to eat. Given the hype surrounding this place, I guess I had higher expectations. I was pretty underwhelmed with the scene; from the patrons to the vibe and the service. It was just kind of blah. The weirdest thing of all was seeing what appeared to be several wealthy men cavorting with who I can only imagine were escorts. I suppose if you have the kind of money to buy a girlfriend for the night(the weekend?), the Soho House is as good a place as any to take them, but it was just a tad creepy. Too many people trying to be noticed and wondering if you might be that special someone who will make their dreams come true. All in all, I’m glad and thankful I got the opportunity to go, but honestly, I don’t really need to go back. If you get the chance to check it out, I definitely would, but remember — there are rules.

VERY neat place. I was invited here for a business meeting. I flew in from Chicago, and I had no idea what kind of place I was heading to. The atmosphere was great when I was there. People were seated pretty sparsely(and privately) in the restaurant, and everyone was just conducting their business. It’s a far cry from a Starbuck’s where every table is jammed with people trying to carry out business while fighting each other for power plugs. That said, this isn’t the type of place I’d try to get a membership for… But it was a neat experience nonetheless.

Located on perhaps one of my all time favorite blocks in the Meat Packing section of NYC, arguably the hottest neighborhood in NY, the Soho House attracts an authentic global, sophisticated unpretentious urban crowd and oozes, real hip urban style. Smart, sexy, sophisticated, stylish women are abundantand the guys look pretty switched on too, but the vibe is definitely not pick up scene/meat market. It’s just cool people doing their thing with friends, clients etc. Cocktails on the roof pool patio is a legendary scene, something you might see(or have seen) in an episode of Entourage but without the superficial west coast LA drama. Their restaurant is trend setting cool, comfortable and sophisticated. The servers are a global eclectic mix and best in class. Aside from my 16 $ burger, which was boring and disappointing, the rest of our meal was quite interesting and tasty. From the honey truffle croquettes to the home made gnocchi, eggplant carponate, it all delivered. It’s a membership club/hotel with either global or local access privileges. One is opening in Chicago’s West Loop soon.

This review is primarily for my hotel stay at the Soho House. Certainly not short of new options in New York, the Soho House Hotel was quite different than my usual choice of a trendy, larger hotel. Boasting just thirty rooms spaced across 3 different floors, I do not regret my selection. Caridad Garcia was the lovely associate who walked me through check-in, and she was the sweetest of the bunch that day. She was very friendly and didn’t seem to mind when I asked annoying questions. The only unnecessary factor? I didn’t feel the need to have someone physically walk me to my room since I could find it on my own. The only other hotel I’ve ever seen this done was at the Halekulani over in Waikiki, but I guess it supposed to be a more personal experience??? I had a corner room, and although it was considered ‘small’, don’t knock it. This was a huge room by NYC hotel room standards, and well its worth. Although there were a couple of flaws from full-sized products missing in the shower(I would have been charged had I not said anything) and a slightly mind-of-its-own television, I did not let this deter from the rest of my experience. We also have access to the Cowshed Spa which was on our floor, so I took advantage of the steam room. I actually didn’t spend much time at the Club itself besides the cinema/screening room for the Golden Globes. Seats were super-comfortable, and there was an honor candy bar on the right front side. It was pretty crowded throughout the place, but not so much where Amy and I had free reign over their in-house photo booth! Later on after 1am I needed some information and the two guys at the front desk were about as helpful as you can get. Maybe they were extremely bored, but I don’t think it was that; wish I would have gotten their names. OH, the shower in my room was like no other I’ve had in life, and I had about three within my short stay there, I kid you not. I told my friend to get up an hour earlier just so she could see what the big deal was. Heads up: that towel rack is HOT. I wasn’t aware at first, but it was quite the jolt when you went to grab a towel and brushed your hand against the bar… good for the towels, not for the skin. In closing, Mark Cadwell from reservations was my main contact, and he was consistent in keeping in touch with me via email and phone up until the time of my stay. That being said, it was primarily the employees here that made it feel so exclusive. From the front desk, Cowshed/club staff, and especially their amazing housekeeping personnel, they make your time spent here special. P. S. Another favorite? NOCELLPHONE talking or picture taking(texting and email is permitted, though I mostly saw people talking to each other for a change)!!
