Don’t go here! They don’t actually put on the lights. They are probably running out of money or they just don’t care about how well you see while you play pool. Go to amsterdam or fat cat.

The billiards table apparently were good quality. I’m not huge on pool but it was nice to hang out with some friends and enjoy the atmosphere. This place seemed relatively new with plenty of pool tables to go around. The $ 34/hr seemed pretty steep for pool but for 4 people it wasn’t too bad. The place was pretty dark and you had to watch out for waitresses behind you trying to serve while you play. Not bad. The ping pong tables weren’t the greatest. The ping pong balls were horrible. They were heavy and not the right kind of balls for play. The rackets we used were somewhat torn on the side. An hour is enough for play. They also had plenty of TVs around and the packers and cardinal game was on. It was pretty epic. We had a pretty good time, go here for billiards NOT ping pong. Don’t expect too much.

It’s good for what you want: to play pool and have some drinks. You have to go in knowing you’ll drop some cash. For two of us, the bill for the table was $ 46 for an hour or two of playing. Drinks-wise, came out to $ 32. The waitresses came over so often and began taking away a glass that wasn’t empty, had to stop her. But the tables are really nice and clean, other players are respectful and having fun. The tvs showed good games and there are little tables were you can sit and take a break to watch.

Great place. A lot of tables and the staff are very friendly. Food is delicious, but very small portions. Cost of the pool is just about the same as anywhere else. Over all we had a great time!

I was introduced to Society Billiards + Bar by a group of old coworkers who now frequent the spot. This subterranean pool hall had a decidedly selective and secretive air about it. It was also more upscale and classy than most. For instance, they possessed a custom cocktail list, from which I discovered the refreshing Cucumber Express, a blend of Hendrick’s Gin, lemon juice, ginger beer, and cucumber. They also offered a shot menu, though my crew stuck with the good old standby of Fireball. Lastly, the service was fantastic! Our conscientious server made several trips over to our table to make sure we were all set with our beverages. Society Billiards + Bar was the perfect spot for a night of fun with our big group, and I look forward to going back.

This place is fun and works well for groups. On the pricey side but everyone eventually gets a table. Good variety of people and doesn’t feel as grungy as some of the other pool halls I’ve been to.

Great place to play pool. Diamond tables is a plus. The rates aren’t too bad but its Manhattan so it’s still a bit expensive. I played for two hours on a Sunday afternoon and I ended up paying 20 bucks. The staff is pretty friendly, and overall I would say it’s definitely better than Amsterdam billiards. This is one of the better pool halls in Manhattan.

You know that cool commercial that comes on TV with the suave guys playing pool? That’s you. In this pool hall. Honestly Society is an awesome pool hall that charges very fair prices for what they offer: a great environment to play pool. The service was friendly and even if you don’t like playing pool, there’s plenty of fun to be had at the bar or simply watching the any one of the numerous tvs they have set up. It seems like players of all skill levels came here, so there’s no need to worry about any judgement from discerning eyes. Everyone is here to have a good time! Definitely will come back in the future!

THE billiards bar to go. Big and smooth tables, straight cubes, decent people(No screaming and smashing the cubes), cute waitress!! Drinks and foods are okay. But if you do come for billiards, it really does’t matter. The bouncer is a pain and didn’t let me in a few times when I didn’t take my ID with me even though I got there like, every week. But what can I say, he’s doing his job.

This is definitely a high end pool hall, great equipments too. Diamond tables all around so you know it’s expensive. Gorgeous waitresses all around and great vibe. Like I said it’s a high end club like pool hall. Well decorated and best carpeting in a pool hall that I’ve seen.

Great place to bring a date. Pool and darts make for a fun date activity, but with a more upscale feel. Good drinks and a decent selection of bar food. The music was good but a little too loud and the service could have been faster, but overall I was pleased with the experience. The tables are well-maintained and they have real dart boards(not that plastic crap). I would definitely go again. Just a heads up, on a Wednesday there was still a short wait for a table so I imagine the weekends get packed, so be sure to plan ahead!

Ok so better late than never. What an awesome time!!! First I want to say the staff automatically amazing straight from the beginning extremely professional, kind and helpful. I came here for my 30th bday and it also landed on the infamous may weather vs Pacquiao boxing match. As difficult as we all know that could of been… It was stress free and hassle free thanks to all the time dedication and enthusiastic event manager Ms Emma Larkins. Emma we really had a fantastic time. The staff was pleasant, the food was awesome, I also had a cake all set up for me was delicious. We were taken in and greeted by Emma which I was super impressed. Truly had a fabulous time thanks for EVERYTHING

Society is my spot. I go about 2 – 3 times a week to either practice or take a date. There’s always tables, which are all in mint condish, never a wait time, and super cute waitresses. They also have a really great in-house pro named Jonathan Smith who fixes cues and gives lessons. The only downside if this place is the music sometimes is awful, esp. on a weekend. They have this dj who needs to GO. A lot of the time though the music is very chill. Classic rock/funk. The food is also meh, but its not really that kinda place. This is a spacious, classy place. Glad to have it in my life.

The unassuming bar is very easy to walk right past it and not even know it. I work pretty close by and walk right past here almost every day for lunch and only realized it was here when my coworkers wanted to go here for a drink after work. They do have happy hours but until 7pm but I rarely make it in time to take advantage of it. Since I come here mostly to drink, we never really take advantage of the option to play billiards. The bartenders are usually friendly and very accommodating. I once had an old fashioned that wasn’t that great and the bartender offered to remake it for free. One of the bartenders, whose name I can’t remember, usually offers us tickets to special events — like pay per view events [we come here often…] and usually sits with us after his shift is over and drink. It’s a nice place but nothing that stands out.

So much fun! I love playing pool and was excited to find a pool hall near my apartment. I went on a Sunday night so it wasnt very crowded. The waiters are very kind and attentive, even while you are playing.

Just came here today before dinner. I used to be really into billiards but it’s been a while since I’ve played at a pool hall. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. There was a small wait(Saturday night) so we chilled at the bar for a bit. Bartender was friendly enough so we ordered some drinks and appetizers before our table was ready. Appetizers were good. Guacamole was excellent. Also had the sliders(Ham & Cheese, Duck BLT and roast beef) along with the tater tots. The duck BLT sliders were the best out of the three. Pool tables were clean, the house cues were straight with good finished tips and even the rack was a solid. We were lucky enough to get a table off to the side so we basically had our own lounge couch and table while playing. Prices are fair… about $ 12 pp, per hour. No smoke smell which is a plus. Would definitely come back here again to hangout.

Elegant and spacious pool place tucked away downstairs. The atmosphere is great — the ample TVs showing different sports, well-maintained pool tables and equipment, and lounge-y feel without being pretentious. The servers are really nice and attentive. The food menu isn’t too large aside from some finger food like fries and calamari. The furniture is also really well-spaced with large bar stools with back rests on the side and smaller bar stools in the middle near the island. Chill and relaxed place to shoot some pool and hang with friends.

2.5 Stars. A large and well-kept space, including well-maintained pool tables and equipment. It wasn’t too crowded on a Friday night, and it was easy to get a table. The DJ was spinning some good music, and they had some of the NBA games on TV. For 2 people to play pool for an hour, it’s $ 12 per person, per hour($ 24 total). For 4 people, it’s $ 8.5 per person, per hour($ 34 total). No drink specials either, and not a very good beer selection. Overall, a bit expensive for billiards, but we accepted that it was a weekend night, and I guess that’s the premium. But that’s where it started to go a bit south. To book the table, you need to give them a credit card to hold. However, additionally, to order drinks on a tab, you need ANOTHER card as well, separate from the one holding the table. That’s just utterly pointless. We quipped to the staff that it was an inefficient practice, but the staff were pretty much indifferent. Fine. Moving on. The TV screens all had the Cavs game on, but gradually, they all turned into a DVD showing of the movie Full Metal Jacket. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Full Metal Jacket, but we wanted to watch the Cavs game while we played pool. We asked our waitress if just one of the screens could be turned back to the game and the waitress flat out said«no», without a hint of an apologetic tone. Wow. Not only that, the rest of the waitstaff kept roaming around telling us to keep our drinks off the pool tables, even though we weren’t even drinking anywhere near the pool tables. The deeper irony lies in the fact that they keep coming over to check if you need more drinks, only to also keep yelling at you continuously to keep them off the table. Comes off as a bit cold, don’t you think? I’ll say that this is probably one of the nicer billiards bar in Manhattan, but definitely lacks any semblance of customer service. Not bad for a once-in-a-while type thing, but I would not recommend it as a place to frequent.

Pool hall downstairs near Madison Park. Tables and house cues are reasonably well-maintained, and they warned us this would be a league night, to come early and get a table. Not too expensive for rental(by people and time). Not a bad place to come — almost not enough space between tables, but okay spacing. Food was a downer… the pizza was terrible, and they were completely out of paninis and the curry puffs… which means 75% of the menu was missing. But, you’re hopefully here to play and drink some beer(some nice craft selections). The server was great to joke with us, but she was hard to find later in the evening when it was more busy.
