I met Judd Spodek, with Sit Happens, INC, in NYC when my Belgian Malinois was a year old. She was a great dog, but a LOT of dog, and I was struggling with controlling her high drive and energy. That I met Judd, who just happened to have worked with this breed A LOT, was kismet! He helped me learn to be the strong leader she needed, and made it look so easy. Of course, training my smart dog was easy, training me was the challenge! But I learned so much and now have a balanced, obedient high drive dog who is a great companion and buddy for me.

Judd Spodek is the reason our dog is so sweet, well-​behaved and the envy of so many other dog owners we meet. We met Judd in the neighborhood before we even became dog owners– he was trying to assist us with adopting a rescue from a family that needed to get rid of their dog. After we missed the boat on a few rescues (thankfully there are kind hearted people that scooped these dogs up fast before we could investigate further), we decided to get a puppy (a goldendoodle) of our own– little did we know, we were absolutely clueless in puppyhood.
Enter Judd Spodek. We purchased a start to finish package and he arrived at our apartment the day she came home. He prepared us the week of her arrival with a detailed (but not overwhelming!) list of everything to buy. Judd was (and still is) there for us every step of the way– from the basics to the advanced. He goes above and beyond– always responsive via text, phone or in-​person. He goes past basic dog training– including living with a dog in New York City (handling apartment buildings, dog parks, dogs on the street, small children, highly crowded areas; we even practiced in the over-​crowded Union Square Farmer’s Market).
So many family, friends and acquaintances have adopted puppies– many goldendoodles– in hopes that their dogs will be just like ours. The secret to why she is so amazing– well mannered, well behaved and well tempered is because of Judd and Sit Happens.

My name is Bonnie and I live in Long Island. Judd Spodek came highly recommended by many people in my area. I hired him for my Labradoodle. Judd is an excellent trainer. I have three small children and a large dog. Judd trained her to be very obedient and sweet tempered. He would always attend our scheduled appointments and is very trustworthy and honest. I have given his number to at least ten friends and would continue to do so. Most importantly, my dog LOVES him and animals know best!

After three trainers and countless training books I was referred to Judd from someone who used him at the dog run with one of those «he saved my dog» stories… well I was so helpless with our rescued pup with so many issues I gave Judd a try not knowing what to expect. Now I can say he saved my dog. He gave us the tools and techniques and coached us along the way. He was always responsive to weekend and late night calls and texts. One year later we truly have a wonderful dog! Our dog had issues ranging from separation anxiety to lunging at strangers, especially guests in the house. He would not let anyone pet him and growled at just about everyone and everything. Sammy gradually got better and better and we couldn’t have done it without Judd. He not only trained Sammy but also trained us to better understand Sammy’s thinking and needs. Judd is amazing!

I wish I had found the previous guy’s review (hard to find because it is not recommended by Unilocal) before I gave him $ 2000 (negotiated down from $ 2400) for the «Start to Finish» package, 20 sessions. We had three sessions in three weeks and then nothing. Every time I tried to schedule another appointment he canceled or rescheduled last minute. This happened five times in three months until I finally told him I wanted my money back.
The only reason I paid entirely up front is because he was recommended by my dog runner Leslie Altnow, who is apparently his best friend. She said that some of his clients pay for the package then give up after a few lessons. This sounded hard to believe but now I see that that is what he is hoping happens with all his clients, and so he thinks this justifies his behavior.
Although he works in NY he actually lives in Great Neck NJ. I know he cancelled and rescheduled last minute, again and again, because he was too lazy to make the drive, even after I drove all the way out there for two of our sessions.
He is name is Judd Spodek and he is a con artist. Stay away.
