Came here for lunch, there was nothing particularly good about the food here. The food seems to be put together haphazardly. Maybe I should have ordred from the regular menu and not the lunch menu, but I’m not curious enough to try this place again.

Get anything but Thai. Their Malaysian is on-point, and I enjoyed the kangkung belacan a lot. The Malay fish curry wasn’t bad, but I’ll get a spicier dish next time. The décor’s warm and cozy, with booths for smaller groups/couples, and a long table for larger parties. Friendly, attentive service.

Let me begin by saying: This is not real Malay/Singaporean food. No matter how hard it tries it falls. No cigar and not even that close. Having spent a lot of time in Malaysia and Singapore recently I found Singapura on Seamless and thought to myself… woohoo, chicken satay and Nasi Lemak. I ultimately ordered Chicken Satay, Brown Rice, and Chicken fried dumplings. Here is where everything went wrong. I received my order confirmation and waited 1 hour(instead of the 30 – 45 advertised) and was unceremoniously handed a leaking bag. Cold to the touch. I open it up and my food is not only leaking but cold. Despite this I ventured to try it, in the hopes it would save me a trip to Kuala Lumpur if I could find quality Malay in NYC. But alas It was not the case, the food was not at all similar to what can be had in Malaysia. Sure it had similar names and looks and even the same ingredients but the preparation was not there. Nowhere in Malaysia or Singapore are you going to get tiny super thin slices of onion with your satay, rather you’ll get big huge chunks. No quality hawker stand I know will you get peanut sauce in a thimble. And those dumplings… I think they were supposed to be from an American/Chinese Restaurant, because they had no semblance of anything I ate during my time in SE Asia. Singapura has disappointed me greatly, and I won’t be giving them a second chance. Luckily for me, Seamless refunded me because my delivery arrived both late and cold, but for others, I fear you’ll be disappointed should your order arrive on time and be at proper temperature because if you’ve ever been to Singapore or Malaysia you’ll realize this food is not the true article.

The group of girls I was with decided to try out Singapura on a Saturday night. We had made reservation hence we were accomodated quickly and easily. So I would definitely reccommend making a reservation because the place fills up quick, while a line starts to form outside. I tried the Drums of Heaven and they were delicious. I also had a bite of Chilli Chicken and it too was delicious although non-spicy eaters beware, it was very spicy with long peices of Thai chilli’s throughout the dish. I chose the Nasi Lemak Chicken for my entrée and I was very happy with it. it came with a delicious serving of coconut rice, a bowl of simply delicious coconut chicken curry, a side of pickled vegetables and a dollop of shrimp paste topped off with tiny crunchy tid-bits of fish. The mound of coconut rice was also topped off with a crisp fried egg. The bowl of coconut curry chicken was silky and flavorfull. Needless to say I enjoyed my meal at Singapura.

2.5 Excited to try this place. After being in Singapore, finding similar food would be awesome. Unfortunately the meals let us down. The papaya and mango salad was not of good quality at all and the dressing was pretty bad. The curry dish was okay. Not bad, not great. Super heavy. The nasi lemak just wasn’t to my liking. Too much shirmp paste, or whatever it was, giving the dish a weird flavor. Too few pieces of the chicken. The vegetables it came with were fried and way too oily. The good dish was dessert — mango sticky rice — pretty delicious! The other(supposed) good dish we didn’t order that came to the table by us was the sizzling ginger chicken. Now that looked and smelled SO good, I am tempted to return for lunch to try it. Nice décor and the friendliest service ever! I wish I liked it more but maybe if reviews go up in more favor of the quality of cooking in the future I would return(for that sizzling platter of ginger chicken).

Singapura is a nice option for Thai/Malaysian in Curry Hill. I found the service to be very friendly. One person in our party was a little late but they let us sit down before our whole party arrived and we didn’t feel rushed at all. A few of us started with the roti canai and one person had the steamed chicken dumplings(which he liked). I’m a huge fan of roti canai and something about this version just didn’t feel right. The roti tasted a little artificial, like the kind you can get from Patel Bros. And it tasted like the dish had too much coconut milk or something, just didn’t taste too authentic. It wasn’t bad though because the dish was still licked clean! I tried the Singapura curry noodles with veggies and I was expecting noodles in curry but it definitely wasn’t. It was a dry rice noodle dish with veggies. I needed to add some hot sauce to turn up the flavor, but overall it was a good dish. I just wish the noodles were in a curry! My hubbie and friends had the drunken noodles which they thought had a big kick, so be sure to ask for this dish mild if you can’t handle the heat!

3 and a half stars! It is basically a fusion Asian restaurant specializing in Malaysian, Thai and Hakka food. We didn’t have the camera only the phone camera so the pictures are not great! The owner also owns Bohjan-http://www.bhojanny.com/ The same owner also owns Literally every time we have tried to go no matter what night it is always full! This is the first time we have been able to get in! It might seem like we go out a lot but it is only eating in-between doctor visits for me. This neighborhood was somewhat of a dead zone for many years for food! Now it has become hot! The owner seems to have transformed the area. It was Curry Hill for many years but the standards of the restaurants have gone up inviting more diners to eat here. Here is an article by NY Times about the restaurants in the area. Those restaurants all have awards of many kinds and each one seems to be full! A quote from the article that sums up the owner who in my opinion has changed the area into a real dining destination. «Acting, directing and cooking: to me it’s the same thing. It’s all creative talent,» he said. «That’s why you see other actors, like Robert DeNiro getting into restaurants. To me, it’s the passion.» Now about our dining experience. It was in the 40s and they had the air conditioner on. All of the women in the restaurant including me had on coats. I told our server and she turned on the heat! I really appreciate that she did! But here is a tip for the restaurant. Put on the air conditioning in the kitchen and when it is in the 40’s heat in the dining area! I was going to leave if she didn’t turn on the heat! She was nice about it! The dough part of the Roti Canai was light and good! The sauce had peas in it and that was not to my liking but it was okay other wise. I have had better Hakka noodles at Talk of the Town. But I have had worse too! And even worse in the neighborhood! Still the noodles were a bit of a disappointment! We also had Nasi Lemak coconut rice, chicken curry, fried egg, and vegetables. It was the same sauce as the Roti Canai and I like that sauce so it was nice. The coconut rice didn’t have too much coconut flavor. The spicy dishes were moderately spicy not too spicy or too bland. The spice won’t blow a hole in you but it is flavorful enough! They get extra stars for cleanliness, value, décor and fast, efficient service. So the meal didn’t blow me away but it is a nice option in the area!

The Hakka noodles were absolutely delicious! I’ve had egg noodles in the past and disliked them, but these were yummy! I also liked the hot sauce they gave, btw. It looked really bland but my friend and I really liked it. We also got the pat see ewe which was just ok-I’d try their other, more unique dishes next time. The food came out within ten minutes which was nice!

First time trying Singaporean food, and I left happy because it was really good! We ordered the Roti Telur(sp?) for appetizer(left me wanting more, it was really good), Devil’s Curry(flavorful, tender chicken), and Sizzling Ginger Chicken(comes out steamy & sizzling!) The service was great, the portions were good, and the prices were reasonable. The ambiance & décor are also very pretty and vibrant, lots of colors. made for a fun dining experience.

Singapura distinguishes itself by describing its food as a mix of Chinese Malaysian Thai and Indian which is interesting. I came here with my cousin and we shared Szechuan chicken and spicy red curry with shrimp. The Szechuan chicken wasn’t bad but the amount of sodium in the meal made me not able to finish it. It was just unbearable by the end! The red curry was wonderful and was not cheap with the shrimp. We like our food spicy and tasty so the food certainly satisfied that. The portions don’t look like they’re a lot but we were totally stuffed after. I think we could’ve shared one dish! The décor is nice with its flowery lamps, abacuses on the walls, and dim lighting, and makes it suitable for a date. But I saw a lot of groups here. Its a small space but they fit a lot of people. What bothered me was the waiters/owner who tried so hard; they asked us every ten minutes how everything was! I understand they want to cater to us but calm down people. I have to take off one star for this and one star for the excessive amt of sodium in the chicken. Otherwise I liked the curry and if I’m in the neighborhood I might return to try some of their other options.

When I start a review by commenting on its décor, you know what that bodes for the food… Décor is decent. Asian lanterns and dim lights make the place fit for a date night or a friends’ night out. It kinda surprised me how many happy hour crowds there were. As for the food… curry was decent, nothing that blew my mind. The special beer(southeast Asian brew?) tasted like fermented rice wine from Asia but with the malts of all beers… May or may not be everyone’s safe bet Servers tried a little too hard to be attentive. My 2 cents: take some psychology classes and it will serve the staff well. SO. you get the idea

Singapura sets itself apart by offering a mix of malaysian, thai and chinese dishes. I ended up getting the red curry with tofu and vegetables for $ 12 which is two dollars more than what is normally charged at a Thai restaurant. The red curry wasn’t spicy enough to my liking even though I had requested it extra-spicy. However, the pad see ew with chicken was delicious! It was a big plate of flat rice noodles with chicken and chinese broccoli. The flavors were bold and strong and chicken wasn’t dry. Not bad but not great. Probably will not return, not even for the pad see ew. Although that dish was made well, it doesn’t have a competitive edge over the same dish prepared elsewhere at a lower cost.

My friend from Singapore from the days we both lived there was visiting me in NYC and we had to go try some Singaporean food for old time’s sake! We were nervous whether this could live up and we were so relieved that it did. We had the chicken rice and nasi goreng for entrees and started with roti canai and the mango papaya sambal. EVERYTHING was perfect! Just like we used to have it back in SGP! Service was good, ambiance was great, prices were fine. AMAZINGFIND!!!

Cheap, quick, and decent lunch spot. The restaurant is narrow and the tables are bunched up together, but it wasn’t crowded at all for prime lunch time on a Thursday. Lamb Rendang was flavorful. It’s like a gamier version of a beef rendang. I felt like it was more saucier than beef rendang because I usually think beef rendang as more dry. This one was almost like a thick curry. The pieces of lamb were chunky but moist and soft, and they give you a good amount of pieces. The ginger fish is also good. The veggies taste fresh and you get the hint of ginger. It also looks very healthy too. The lunch specials come with soup or a spring roll. The spring roll was average, but i like their dipping sauce which wasn’t too thick nor too sweet. Overall, the food was okay, nothing spectacular, but it def hit the spot for a cheap lunch spot.

Ate here with friends on Friday — we chose this restaurant because of its blend of Thai, Malaysian, and Chinese food — something to satisfy everyone. It’s quite a small restaurant, so we did have a reservation and were seated promptly. While waiting on our friends, my husband and I tried the Roti Canai which was excellent and the Drumsticks from Heaven, also very good. When our friends showed up, we had more Roti Canai and the Veggie Dumplings, also good. For dinner, I ordered the Drunken Noodles, which were excellent, although not as spicy as I would have liked(much less spicy than other Thai places would tend to make them). Our friends had the Pra Raam and Hakka Noodles, both very good. My husband made the only poor choice — Chili Crab. It was delicious, but difficult to eat and not that filling. It was a pile of crab legs covered in a spicy red sauce — so you had to make a huge mess to get at the crab meat in the legs. Not recommended unless you really like to work for your food. Overall though, I would definitely come back here. The restaurant has a nice cozy atmosphere, service was friendly and prompt, the wines were good, and the food was really good and at a reasonable price.

Décor: 3.5÷5 –plenty of space but be forewarned about the booths. It’ll be a tight squeeze for 4 Service: 4⁄5 –above average –asked if everything was alright, twice Food: 3⁄5 –Roti Telur($ 6) came as 4 half cut circles with a small bowl of chicken and potatoes. I’m definitely glad I Unilocal’d this dish bc the lunch dishes were meh –Chicken Pad Thai($ 8): good portion and filling except the noodles were a bit more clear than I had expected. Also the flavor was heavy on the sour side –Chili Chicken: This tasted a bit bland even with the sauce. My friend thought it was spicy but I didn’t think it was at all. The batter: chicken ratio was on the high cholesterol side I’d def come back for the Roti Telur and possibly to try their other dishes but a little hesitant

This new spot in «Curry Hill» does a bang-up job at standing out in an area where there is a high concentration of Indian food by presenting itself as a Southeast Asian fusion restaurant. Now sometimes when places are branded as «fusion», authenticity is lost. Not the case with Singapura! These people know their food. Technically, everything is Singaporean, but Singaporean food itself is a blend of Thai, Chinese, Malay, & Indian so their menu features a little bit of everything Southeast Asian, including, to my delight, true Indian-Chinese dishes that are a bit harder to find in Manhattan. For appetizers, we tried the Roti Telur, which is a Malaysian-style pancake with egg served with chicken or potato curry. This was absolutely fantastic! A standout dish, it was perfectly spiced with spot on flavor. I had to restrain myself from licking the bowl the curry came in. We also ordered Drums of Heaven, spicy pulled-back chicken wings, as a second appetizer — SORIDICULOUSLYGOOD. For our main dishes, we had the chili chicken and chili garlic noodles. Both also amazing. And to combat the spice, I had a delicious, not sickeningly sweet Thai iced tea, which for some reason is not on the menu. Speaking of menus, I just absolutely love that Singapura’s is so unique. It makes me want to come back and try a bunch of other things, especially since everything we ordered was pure perfection. Bonus: in addition to phenomenal food, Singapura also has great service, generous portion sizes, and reasonable prices with entrees ranging from $ 10-$ 16.

Yummy and good service. Came here on a Groupon deal(always a nice option to try new places). Ordered: Vegetable curry rice noodles Garlic spinach and tofu Vegetable Pad Thai Everything was enjoyable. Flavors were there. The pad thai was a little sweet, but not bad. Also I’ve had larger portions, was a little skimpy on the noodles. The Curry Rice noodles were good and plentiful, definitely made up for the lacking noodles of the pad thai. The garlic spinach and tofu was yummy, we were offered rice with it but we had enough rice like substance at the table. Our waters were kept full and the waitress checked on us with decent frequency. Also they see the patrons out, which I think is nice, they care enough to greet you in and out. Nice! Overall great experience, we shall return!

I was craving Thai and only had $ 15 on me.(Pathetic, I know.) Singapura came up in my search by my school and I was so eager to come here because of all the great reviews. The place is small, but really interesting and pretty. There are abacuses on the walls in the booth seats, pretty lighting, comfortable seating… and a clean bathroom, with a toilet that had the quietest flush. The waters are served in mason jars — took me quite awhile to trust that they were clean. When I walked in, there were like 2 – 3 hostesses in the back just standing around. It wasn’t busy — a party of three were just getting situated and another party was leaving. I wasn’t sure if I had to just seat myself or wait for someone to come greet me. So I stood around and waited… and waited. Someone finally comes over and seats me by the door. To my knowledge, you usually get seated with a menu. This lady didn’t even hand me a menu. So I waited… and waited… and waited. Just as I was about to leave and go eat somewhere else, the hostess shows up with my menu. I already knew what I wanted to order because I was checking the menu on my Unilocal app while waiting. She comes back a few minutes later and asks which lunch special I wanted. «SHRIMP. CHILI. GARLIC. NOODLES. SHRIMP.» I even try to make out a shrimp with my fingers. The special was served with a spring roll and a drop of some lettuce(small salad). Despite my meal being spicy as hell, it was quite tasty. My mouth was on fire! «Would you like some spicy sauce?» Uh, no… but I would like more water. WTF?! Get me my refill! The fact that I had to wait to get seated when I first walked in, then to wait even more to get a freaking menu… and wave my waitress over to refill my water, AND to wait for my check to come while my waitress decided to take a lunch break was just… asking for this not-so-great rating.
