Great price, decent sushi and fast service. Wouldnt recommend eating in since it’s actually a hole in the wall but its pretty good for ordering out during lunch time. I always get the lunch specials and its ready within 10 – 15 minutes. Never had a problem with the food.

Ate here yesterday and got food poisoning. Wouldn’t risk it even if the price is low. I had the Alaska roll, spicy tuna and eel/avocado roll with miso soup. Worst decision of my life, for I haven’t left the toilet since smh.

I ordered from here for the first time today for lunch. I was craving sushi and this place is pretty close to where I work. I decided to get the 3 roll lunch special for $ 12.20. I got the spicy tuna, yellowtail jalapeño, and tuna avocado rolls and miso soup(you get a choice between soup or salad). The miso soup was just ok, but that’s typically how I feel about all miso soup. I didn’t particularly love the spicy tuna roll, which generally is one of my go-to rolls. The filling almost seemed dry or something. I did really enjoy the yellowtail jalapeño and the tuna avocado rolls though. They really hit the spot to satisfy my sushi craving! The place is really small, so I recommend getting your food to go. I actually ordered mine through Unilocal and it was ready when I got there 15 minutes later. Was it the best sushi ever? No. But I’ll definitely be back and it’s a great deal for lunch!

I usually get the lunch specials to go, the restaurant is way too small to sit down comfortably and everyone walking in is always standing on top of you while they wait for their order. The food seems fresh, the rolls are 6 pieces, sometimes prepared equally, but every once in a while you get one that’s mostly filler, for example in a Philadelphia roll you get 80% cream cheese and 20% salmon. This doesn’t happen all the time, but every so often. Pretty decent for the money and close to the office, nothing fancy.

You can choose two or three kinds of rolls for your lunch, and with a miso soup or salad. i ordered the spicy salmon and the shrimp avocado rolls. The spicy salmon rolls taste good with the little crispy texture. I don’t know how they made it. Maybe the sesame outside? The shrimp rolls are just so-so. They also provide my favorite genmai cha tea. Miso soup goes with some tofu, but not very hot. The service is good. They add hot tea and clean tables frequently for you. Overall, the price 9.95 for such a lunch(two rolls) is good.

The best sushi in the city by far! Always fast and delicious. It’s definitely a hole in the wall. So try to go at the off-time for a chance at a seat!

It’s rare to find affordable sushi in the area but this is not only affordable but actually pretty great. It’s not your high end sushi but the sashimi and sushi is good quality and their miso is yummy. Great lunch specials if you work nearby.

So, I don’t know what some people use as a parameter to compare sushi places, but to call this an «authentic» sushi joint is a real stretch. The place did get an «A» from the Dept of sanitation, but I have wonder how, as there seems to be many places that haven’t been cleaned all around the establishment, I’ve got a picture to show what I saw. As for the food, I was looking for a quick sushi bar for lunch and this was the nearest to me, I don’t think I’ll miss this place. I ordered the sashimi regular(SC10) and did receive what I ordered, but the fish was still frozen, the tuna was not sliced through and they served white fish, which is another way of filling up a plate with cheap fish. Now, I did request that they did not serve crab or shrimp, as I saw right away that the crab was the fake type. The bottom line is this, if you don’t know any better this place may be just fine, but if you’ve ever had sushi made and served by people who take some pride in the craft come in with the right expectation.

We got a gigantic platter and I was unhappy with most of it. I’m addicted to sashimi, and my craving ultimately went unsatisfied. The portions were small. A few things were still nearly frozen. They load the plates with tons of radish and lettuce, intentionally deceptive. When you order 40 pieces of sashimi, it is unacceptable that 10 of them be egg and 10 of them be fake crab and the rest all come in small inconsistent poorly prepared portions.

This tiny sushi spot in FiDi rolls out a good lunch special($ 9.00 for 2 rolls) and is fast, reliable and consistent. Cash preferred, $ 12 minimum credit card charge. Get the eel avocado roll — it’s one of the best and the eel sauce here keeps me coming back.

Went here today. I am a sushi lover so I have very high standards when it comes to price over quality. The service was very nice and friendly. I messed up on my order and they accommodated me for my mistake. Other then that the sushi was okay. Not the greatest but definitely not the worst. I work 3 blocks away so I’ll definitely be coming back but, all and all I think it was good.

It was good. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They cleared one of their few tables for our party of 3 right away. The food and service were good and the prices were fair. The only reason I can’t give it 4 stars is that it is very cramped and right on the street(table we were at was literally 4 feet from the sidewalk and the door was wide open — so it was like eating on the sidewalk with all associated pleasantries(noises, smells, people) … This place is probably great for take out though!

I stumbled upon this place with a hidden desire for some good sushi. The clouds parted and the sun light beamed on this little hidden treasure of NYC. Authentic Japanese place, accepts credit/debit cards but best of all try the peanuts & mango roll, SO good ^_^ Small seating area but fast service!

This is another of my ‘go-to’ lunch spots. Eat in or take out this is the place to come for a quick lunch. I normally have the 2 roll lunch special which comes with Salad or Miso soup. I would skip the salad but the soup excels. The rolls are freshly made, plump and tasty. I’ve also had the Sashimi Special which is great. Service is efficient and Friendly. I normally get take out but despite its small size and location it always seems like there would be somewhere to sit if wishing to dine in, even during lunch hours. As others have said, a great place to get your quick and tasty sushi fix!

Don’t believe the address! You would imagine that it’s easy enough to find, but if you’ve never been here, it is. The Unilocal map shows it appearing on Park Place between W. Broadway and Church(Wrong). The google map was showing Park pl between Church and Broadway(Also Wrong). My friend and I were standing on the Corner of Park Pl. and Church and were wondering how did we just miss it? After resolving that may be the place already closed down, we spotted a small Japanese restaurant on Church, just a short distance from the corner. It had an A rating, so we thought how bad could it be, there was no point in wasting time trying to find something else. When we actually sat down and looked at the menu, we realized this was the place we were looking for all along. When we sat down, I also noticed that I was sitting pretty much in a puddle. At least my chair definitely was, there was water on the floor. There was also some water on the side of the table which made me look up and try to figure out whether it was just raining inside. After we mentioned it to the waitress, nothing happened, so we kept sitting in our puddle. The place is very small with only 3 actual tables and a smallish sushi bar. Yet, although there was a lot of pick up or order out traffic, there weren’t that many people waiting for a table. The one next to us was empty the entire time we had lunch. For whatever reason, however, the waitress kept rushing. She handed our menus when we sat down and said right away that the lunch special is on the back. After waiting may be 30 seconds and without leaving the table she asked if we were ready to order. We were not. She came back 2 minutes later and we figured we might as well order, or else. We both opted for the 3 rolls lunch special trying to come up with the 3 choices as fast as we could, or else. The special was $ 11.95 and was not a bad deal for sushi lunch, especially for this Tribecaish location(Unless of course you typically eat sushi in South Brooklyn, in which case you know it’s an almost rip off, but I digress). The rolls were OK, I’ve had better. As soon as we finished eating, we were rushed again. Is it a cultural thing? Did we smell or something? Whatever the reason, I am not planning to come back here.

I go to school a few blocks from this place, and I would stop by at least once a week. Fish is fresh and service is quick and efficient. I always get the sashimi deluxe(miso soup is surprisingly above average) or a variety or hand rolls and sushi ala carte. Admittedly, I have tried their udon — skip it. I believe that their sushi dishes are better than the kitchen ones. The place itself is tiny and could fit maybe 10 people at a time. But I always come at the slowest times(around 3:00 — 4:00) so I have no problem with seating nor with waiting for my food. This place is very satisfying if all you need is a quick bite and fresh, filling sushi without breaking the bank.

My favorite place to go after work. I mean I’m obsessed with sushi, it’s really hard to mess up sushi… if you know what I mean.

It may have been because we inquired about their $ 12 card minimum policy, but I felt that they were very rude and lacking in customer service skills. It became obvious when they were very brusque with serving us, slamming our plates down, yelling in a condescending manner when replying to questions about the menu, and further retaliating by giving us much smaller portions than other diners. They even rushed us to finish eating and to pay as if we had the plague. I don’t understand why since the three of us were the only ones there at that point. We were highly offended! I cannot believe they can get away with treating customers like this. While they may have decent prices and be in close proximity, I may never come here again because of the way they treat their customers.

Totally dug this spot when I ducked in for lunch on a very random wintery day. Its very unassuming from the outside, but as always Unilocal steered me in the direction of a quality sushi lunch special when I so desperately needed one. Inside there are only a handful of tables and a small row of seats at the sushi bar. For such a small place, they seemed well-staffed with two waitresses and two sushi chefs in front and what I assume were more cooks in the back for the hot items. The place was clean and quiet and had that well-worn old school feeling that I so love in bars and diners but have yet to have seen at a sushi spot! If I lived or worked in the area I’d probably come all the time. They offer a 2 or 3 roll lunch special that comes with miso soup. I had the spicy tuna and the tempura sweet potato and both were totally spot on. The spicy tuna even had some real heat to it, which is sadly rare at many of the spots I’ve been to in NYC. Service was quick and incredibly friendly. I ordered a hot tea and it was constantly refilled from a fresh, steaming pot. They also seem to have quite a bit of delivery and pick up going on, but they handle things so smoothly it doesn’t get too crowded inside or disturb the chill ambiance.
