Sheepshead Bay Q And B Trains Station

I’m reviewing a subway stop. Really. As if we need to review subway stops…
Ok, let’s see… our service from the token booth clerk was poor. They couldn’t seem to understand my order through the bullet-​proof glass. And no «Thank you» or «Have a nice day» after I paid for my metrocard. So, no tip for them! :P
The ambiance on a Sunday afternoon was tranquil. Until the homeless man at the end of the platform started shouting at the top of his lungs that he is Jesus (or that he perhaps craved CHEESES!).
My subway seat on the Q train was warm and toasty. That’s your two stars right there.
Will I return to this establishment?
I may have to.
Go if you must. But don’t sit near the guy on the platform ordering CHEESES!!!

I love the view from the top. It really makes you think before being one of those A-​holes who decide that the remains of their breakfast should go on the tracks. Don’t litter! The train already smells like urine. don’t make it worse by ruining the tracks and causing further delays. There is this whole split stairway thing that confuses the hell outta me. I do not want to end up near the highway nor do i want to get out on the side further from my preferred exit. What is the preferred exit? The side where the cops do not stand and give everyone THE LOOK (not like the Roxette song). So why do i make my life complicated and get out at this train station? Because it is express… because i love a challenge… because i am a goddamn professional (like jennifer lopez in «the wedding planner»)

God knows how many nights and days I have waited trains at this station within 5 years I have spent in the neighbourhood so far and how many more to come. Especially I used to catch late nights ones at about 2 – 3 AM in the morning when my shift was over and would take the Voorhies Ave to walk (short cut if coming from Emmons Ave.) and once in every 2 nights, train would come when I am still steps away from the entrance so I would have to run like crazy to catch it :) Were fun times but the worst part was «missing it «. Then you either have to wait for an extra 20 minutes at least with homeless or possibly drunk station-​bodies. Imagine carrying your weekly salary and praying that no one will rob you :)
Since it is an open air station, and built on a high platform, it is really cold on winter time. Exit on Sheepshead Bay Road is really central, you may buy all your daily needs. There are cabs under the bridge, keep in mind for rainy days.

Only reason I am giving this a 2 star rating cause I sure have experienced busy train stations in the past all through out Europe that were top of the line condition.
The artwork was stellar and the atmosphere super clean and uptempo.
Just wanted to say for a Train Station that gets 10s if not 100s of thousands of people a day and probably a staff of 2 – 6 people managing it and cleaning it its holding its own.
Big ups to the MTA continue the good work on the tight NYC budget!

I mean. it is a train station. there’s the homeless and there’s the drunks… the station is kept pretty clean as well but do not take late night trains. lol JUST IN CASE!

As one of the stops where both local trains (Q) and express trains (B) meet, this place is well lit and usually occupied throughout the day. There are businesses and bus stops just adjacent to the main entrance of the station. The station attendant has been helpful so far and I haven’t had any issues with this place.

This station is conveniently located near multiple buses that will take you to places like Bay Ridge and UA Theater.
There are a ton of lights here, especially at night, which makes it feel relatively safe. Plus, people are always in this neighborhood as it is filled with lots of places to hang out. It has two exits — one to all the buses, and the other side closer to the Belt Parkway. It is great because you can exit that way and be close to the bay. It’s also great to get off and walk a few blocks if you’re heading to Manhattan Beach.
The Q/​B are great– especially the Q, rated #1 train in NYC again for this year. The B is great if you’re in a rush, as the B will usually wait for the Q to catch up so all the people on the local track can run over and catch the express.
The station itself is kinda of dirty and mucky, but totally understandable as it is still a public space that a ton of people pass by everyday and the MTA has better things to do with their money. When I come out of the exit by 15^th street, I wouldn’t necessarily say I feel safe as there are a lot of homeless people who beg for change, but there are also a lot of religious groups handing out fliers and a lot of the green taxi cabs waiting for people to request for them.
This station is still great in my opinion as it is offers a lot to the Sheepshead Bay community like transportation that is quick, with a view.

A rather safe train station because it’s outdoors and is an express stop on the B and Q lines. Although it gets quiet at night like any other train station there are always a few people waiting which makes you feel a bit safer. In addition it has 2 exits which is nice, one being the actual sheepshead bay road which has an attendant there at all times. Unfortunately, they removed the booth on the Avenue Z side which makes it a tad unsafe to exit there on nights.

Stop here at this station to meet a Friend to go out… The station is ok. and very clean…
