OBITUARYREVIEW: 3.5 stars, for hardiness and flavor A step up from your typical Chinese take out joint: their pricing’s totally reasonable, and tasty enough. the food lasts too. My company ordered a metric shit-ton of various dishes from them, and I ate those leftovers for a friggin’ week. I’m sure I experienced a vitamin deficiency of some sort, but the food held up to the rigors of hanging out in our office fridge.

OMG! My noodles were stuck together I had to add more hot broth in order to separate the ramen. Thank god for the office microwave. So sad it was like heating up a ramen cup. The broth was okay it lacked a wow factor.

This is a pretty good Szechuan style chinese place. To be honest, I’m not enough of an expert to tell you whether it’s 100% authentic, or whether it’s the best in this neighborhood. But it’s definitely above the crappy americanized chinese food you sometimes find. It’s pretty good, but hasn’t blown me away. Drinks are often BOGO. Dan Dan noodles, spicy frog and Chongqing style chicken have all been good for me.

I never actually take the time to review a restaurant but the service here was so bad that i became inspired to write this… my girlfriend and i were dining here to celebrate a special occasion… we ordered the seafood soup, seafood dumpling, jellyfish, and chili sesame noodles. We first asked what was in the the seafood soup, unfortunately it became a trial and error situation because not a single waiter knew what was in it. The seafood in the soup consisted of pre-frozen seafood but was edible at best. My girlfriend does not eat meat so we specificially asked if the dumplings had pork in it. the waiter assured us that it did not so we ordered it under the understanding that we would get«steamed seafood dumplings». When the the dumplings came out and we took a bite into them it was obvious that there was pork in them… when we approached the waiter, the waiter along with his colleague once again told me that it was all seafood(as if they couldnt tell the difference between pork and seafood) i honestly think they just gave us the pork and chive dumpling and called it a day… they also did not have jelly fish(which is almost impossible in a shanghai restaurant). Upon closing out the check some lady who seemed to be a manager or owner approached us giving us attitude after one of the workers removed the dumpling order off of our check… she gave us alot of attitude because of this even though my girlfriend had to remind her that she did not eat meat… the lady then told us «by the way there is a $ 15 per person minimum» why would we want to pay for something that we did not order… shortly after one of the waiters stated«you must not be from asia because you are loud» even though we held onto our composure until the end of our meal… we will never return here which is a shame considering the fact that when we like the food at a restaurant we become consistent regulars… to review the waiters are absolutely clueless and have no idea whats going on(nothing like crashing on an empty thursday in nyc), the food was below average at best and the management is extremely offensive… if we werent forcefully charged gratuity then this would have been the first time we wouldve walked out without leaving a tip… as a matter of fact i am extremely offended that they should force us to compensate this business and its staff for grief and frustration… it amazes me that a place like this can exist and prosper with the quality of service they are proud of… too bad Unilocal has forced me to give 1 star otherwise i would not have selected any… this is by far the worst chinese restaurant i have ever had with the worst service… i wish I went to McDonald’s we would’ve been much happier… oh and a friendly reminder the staff cannot tell the difference between pork and seafood so beware

The worst Chinese restaurant in Fashion district. This restaurant was ok when it just opened. My office is nearby and we used to have it everyday for lunch. But the quality became VERYBAD now! For example, u can barely see the beef in Shredded beef with green pepper. And stir fried shredded beef is OVERFRIED which tastes very dry and hard! Anyway, me and my colleagues will NEVER go again.

Just ordered lunch, it was nice to see that they offer standard soup selections with your lunch special… worlds better than the potato salad they tried to pass off. Unfortunately, their portions are way smaller. Like 30% smaller. Price is unchanged. G.F.Y. Shanghai Broadway, you are off the list.

I have had a lot of chinese food that has been pretty amazing and authentic in NYC. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, the flavors super authentic… When you first walk in the place may not look like much and may be more quiet than you are used to, but the service was great and food will keep me going back regularly.

I was so disappointed in my meal! I ordered the seafood dumplings and my dumpling was very doughy and under seasoned. So I decided to order the wonton soup it does not say what it is filled with and I previously informed my server that I do NOT eat pork. He didn’t let me know that it was pork. All in all I was underwhelmed in my choice of coming and wouldn’t return even if they paid me to try it again. And I’m writing this review as im sitting in the resturant that is how upset I am!

This store is a step up from a take-out joint, but I was not impressed. The waiter forgot to give me a lunch menu; I had to ask for lunch prices. Décor is rather bland. White paper tablecovers. Place setting is a soup spoon and a fork in a paper napkin. No knife, no chopsticks — although I am sure both would be available upon request. I had the hot & sour soup(good) with General Tso chicken(good but not as crispy as I would prefer). White rice was not sticky. The place has a full bar; pricing is a little odd — buy one round and the second round is on the house. There are probably restrictions but I was not drinking at lunch. I need to look for a better Chinese place in the Fashion District.

Best general chicken ever! And my wife’s shrimp lo-mein looked pretty darn good too! They have a buy one beer or wine get one free happy hour. Fast food service, delicious food, staff is a little inattentive, but whatever. It’s in a great location, close to the empire state building. The spring rolls are ok. But the strange thing is, I did not see one drop of soy sauce anywhere… weird. Def. recommend though! Prices are great for NYC.

When your friend drags you out to what she thought was an open bar mingler through and it turns into a serious lecture with what you thought was the Israeli Prime Minister at the time.. .. this isn’t a bad option to head to after. 2 for 1s on all booze at all hours and wakes of the night. Happy hour doesn’t end here as far as I know. There is a sign that says 11:30am-8pm. But we went inside and asked and it just keeps going. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Also, hockey was on, so I merrily plopped down at the bar and was lured into ordering some kind of alcoholic milkshake called«The Heavenly». Lol. Which I genuinely really don’t ever get because of the whole mild lactose intolerance thing. Only thing I don’t really like about this deal, their«fancy» cocktails are like $ 12 – 15 each. So. .. .. you are essentially just paying like $ 6 – 7 for each drink anyway. Though, I would like to note that both drinks were meant to be in a hi-ball glass and they served them in taller glasses for us which was pretty awesome. The food here was pretty decent. I didn’t eat much because it was just a late dinner snack kind of evening. We split an order of steamed pork soup dumplings. Which the skin had the absolute perfect texture even if they were on the smaller side. Then there was an order of dan dan noodles with minced pork. The dan dan noodles are pretty spicy, even for me. Also a little on the oily side, though, the oil just rests on the bottom of the noodles, so you can dump sauce on accordingly. The scallion pancakes were freaking out of this world though. Flakey, soft, moist deliciousness. Absolutely Perfect and everything I’ve ever wanted out of a scallion pancake. They also do lunch specials and the place is surprisingly clean for a Chinese restaurant.

As a native Chinese food frequent eater I have to temper my expectations because the most authentic Chinese food you can have is at the comfort of one’s home. With that being said I was happy with the quality of the food that I did try here, off the lunch special of course that runs from 11am-4pm. BOGOALLDRINKS? I don’t know another Chinese joint that has that going on. And yes some are well drinks but most of the cocktail list(60 drinks in all) are fairly ranged from $ 12.50 –19.00 with exception of the double shot of Johnny Black and Glenlivet. With the BOGO deal that’s roughly $ 6-$ 7 per drink that uses name brand liquor. I will be back just to party. The décor is neater than most Chinese eateries, 2 large TVs playing ESPN and standard dim sum like tables. Clean environment as far as I can see. I ordered the shredded pork with brown rice. THEPORTIONSHEREARESMALLERTHANOTHERCHINESERESTAURANTSDURINGHAPPYHOUR. The portion of the meat was decent but the half an ice cream scoop of brown rice just won’t do. I’M ASIAN, I LOVERICE! It also comes with a half an ice cream scoop of potato chick peas salad which really threw me off. Not enough greens for a salad and definitely too much chewing. Taste wise it was good. NOT bland but nothing that pops out at ya. Just GOOD. I opted for the egg drop soup that comes with the meal and that was pretty spot on when it comed to that. The little kernels of corn was mysterious to me. Next, I ordered the Ma Po Tofu w/shredded pork which is usually how I gage how authetic your Chiness restaurant really is. Apparently, not as authentic as I’d originally thought. It wasn’t bad but some of the flavoring threw me off as I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The spiciness and all other aspects of this dish was spot on. Could it be MSG? No clue but they were certainly close on the dish which will earn then a return visit from me I ordered the wonton soup on this meal. SKIPTHEWONTONSOUP. Wasn’t up to par. 2 beers Sapporo and Asahi bottled. They had many other beer options including Brooklyn and Blue moon. The lady latina bartender was friendly and attentive as I opted for a bar seat because table seats were packed during lunch. Bill? $ 24. Yeah my wallet was happy and my tummy was full. No Sriracha just hot oil is a NO-NO. Good spot to have lunch, pregame, midgame, or just have a meal with some booze. FAN.

I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon with a pretty large group, there was 9 of us. We did not have a reservation and they were able to seat us in about 10 minutes, which was a plus. The food is pretty standard/average Chinese food. I ordered off the lunch menu, which came with my meal, rice, and egg roll and a soup. The best perk about this place is they give you an ordered of free steamed buns if you order at least $ 16 of food. Definitely worth a shot if you are in a pinch.

Happy hour here is pretty amazing and I totally stumbled upon this place by mistake! All drinks/beers/wine/saki is buy one get one free on Monday through Friday and 4−8pm on weekends! Pretty sure my wallet just did a happy dance! :D Amazing happy hour aside they also sell Chinese food and to be honest, actually better quality food than some of the cheaper, not so awesome places in Chinatown. My friend, Anna F., ordered their General Tso’s with brown rice. The chicken was juicy, nicely sauced, not too sweet with a little kick. The rice was your standard, steamed brown rice. We shared a scallion pancake and it was fluffy, crispy and pretty damn delicious! No complaints here — YUMMO! I ordered pork soup dumplings as my entrée(being hungry, but not starving) and I was a little disappointed. They’re absolutely delicious and the filling tastes great — however they arrived small, weirdly shrunken, not very hot and I’m pretty sure they may have actually leaked a bit IN the bamboo steamer as is was brought over to me. I didn’t get much«soup» in them and there was yummy, soupy liquid on the steamer leading me to believe that despite them taking 10 – 15 minutes to come out, they weren’t very fresh either :(. Womp, womp :-/.
Service here is also pretty great. Friendly, efficient and cool. Plus Ming(who bartended on the fine Wednesday night that I was there) is awesome. Ming is sweet, fun, mixes amazing cocktails, inquires whenever we want our«free» cocktails and offered water when I’m not ready(yanno, cuz I’m eating, lol). When I ordered my «free» cocktail I went for a hurricane and said, «Ming! Make me regret this!». It was strong, tasty and I would totally probably regret it if I consumed like 10 of these in a row, lol. Totally coming back here soon, who0t!

I came here with 2 friends on Tuesday and we each ordered an item from the lunch specials for $ 8, which each came with a soup. Pretty good deal for lunch, given how pricey meals can get around Midtown Manhattan. I ordered a beef and broccoli over brown rice(yeah I know … boring me) and found the beef to be more on the fatty and greasy side and the brown rice to be surprisingly dry. We were also given a free steamer of soup dumplings(xiao long bao) but they were far from authentic. No soup whatsover … But the flavor was decent. All in all, the quality of the food isnt up to my standards but for $ 8, free dumplings and friendly service, I’d return.

Honestly I come here for the drinks. Yes, this is a restaurant and it is there mainly to serve food, but they serve 2 for 1 beers ALLDAY. A beer is only $ 5, so technically each beer is only $ 2.50. That is simply bananas. Especially for a place in this location in the city. Amazing. The beers all come from bottles too so you know you’re not getting something that has been watered down. I’ve also eaten the food here as well. Not too bad, but not the best. Everything is what you think normal Chinese food would taste like. I would say the food is a tad on the expensive side, but again, I’m mostly here for the beer. Their other drinks are a little more expensive(wines I believe are $ 9, cocktails could be as high as $ 20) but they are also buy one get one free.

Had a groupon for $ 70 and got a bunch of spicy szechuan dishes as carry out. Nicely packed and offered brown/white rice as accompaniment for entrees. with the groupon, an awesome deal… without, it’s still okay. apps 1. spicy garlic pork slices — yummY~ but it was warm when I got it. i like it cold but I can deal with it. 2. spicy chicken in chili oil(«saliva chicken») — haven’t gotten to it yet, but looked like a LOT of chili oil. 3. dan dan noodle — a bit spicy but the noodle was a bit over cooked. Had some bean sprouts and green leafy veggie(spinach?). decent. entrees 1. spicy boneless chicken(La zi Chicken) — totally not authentic. This tasted more like popcorn chicken than the real deal in China. Had a lot of breading but taste-wise, it was decent 2. spicy fish filet(water cooked fish) — yum! but this dish is very oily so it lives up to its heritage. 3. cumin beef — the bell peppers and onions were caramelized just the way i like it and lots of beef pieces. I reheated as today’s lunch and it was delicious with brown rice. Overall good and spicy but a bit pricier than Flushing.

Their name could be deceiving but I like this place nonetheless. To be fair, this restaurant is not the best Sechuan restaurant you will find in Manhattan but I found it delicious and the service is excellent. Oh and yes it is actually a Sechuan restaurant more than a Shanghai establishment. We tried their spicy beef tripe and marinated beef as appetizer. It is spicy and not overly greasy. The portion is not very big but enough for two people. We also tried their soup dumplings. There are 6 in the steamer. The dumplings are surprisingly good; the dough is very thin and the dumpling bursts with juice. For entrée, we got the rice vermicelli with chili minced pork aka«Ants climb tree» in Chinese. It is very very good. We also got the salt and pepper shrimp. That is probably the least dish I like here but it is not a bad dish. It is just I expected a different style. Our server, who I suspected might be the manager or owner was very attentive and friendly. He never rushed us and came to check on us frequently. I will definitely come back for more when I am in the area shopping or go for business lunch.
