Great little Italian deli with homemade dishes and mozzarella. You can order take out or sit and enjoy the meal. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich with homemade mozzarella for lunch and was very good. The only downfall was the bread. It seemed freshly made but the outer crust was tough and difficult to tear and chew thru. It was a challenge eating the sandwich. Also I got overcharged on my receipt vs advertised price and the service wasn’t that friendly. Would come back for a quick bite again because quality of food was really good.

Meh I was not very impressed with this place. I came here for dinner tonight looking forward to some authentic Italian paninis but left disappointed. I ordered the #1 Il VIP sandwich which comes with prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula, fig spread, and extra virgin olive oil. My main gripe with the sandwich is the stale, hard ciabatta bread that it’s served with. I don’t know how anyone can possibly even chew through it. It was basically impossible to eat with the rest of the fillings. I’m giving this review two stars because the contents of the sandwich actually was decent. The prosciutto was nicely balanced out by the flavors of the fresh mozzarella and fig spread. I loved the fig spread but unfortunately didn’t get to eat much of it since it was slathered on the bread that I threw out. My friend got the penne a la vodka which I tried as well. This dish was a nice creamy flavorful dish. If I ever go back, I guess I’ll be sticking with the pastas next time.

This place is awesome. Really delicious Italian sandwiches and great pastas. The only gripe I have about this place is that it’s a bit expensive for lunch so it’s definitely a splurge when I do order from here. It’s definitely a gem for this area.

Loved these sandwiches! For some reason when I want Italian sandwiches I definitely prefer the crusty, hard loaves of bread that’ll make your mouth hurt but it’s so worth it. Great quality for decent value in a row of restaurants. Forgot the name of the sandwich I had but it had chicken, mozzarella, proscuitto, and balsamic and it was delicious! They have a huge list of sandwiches with a variety of classic Italian toppings and some salads. The place gets pretty busy and there isn’t much seating but they’re very efficient and move the line fast.

Finally a legit place to get lunch a stones throw away from my apt. This place is a real gem in a neighborhood full of low quality thai food, rip off bodegas and random coffee shops. Fresh meats and cheeses, really great bread and all around a very rustic and classic italian vibe to enjoy a lunch. The smoked mozz was memorable and the gabagool(sorry i dont know the non-sopranos word for it #ignorantyelper) was piled high. A very healthy portion and worth a repeat visit.

I’m from Italy, and this place brings me back home :) the menu and real Italian radio playing, good authentic food, I live down the street and come here very often to feel a little closer to my origin, this place is simply wonderful. The VIP with the fig spread is delicious! Tip: it gets very busy around lunch time but dinner time is perfect to stop by!

3.5 stars. Food was very nice! But it was probably a mistake to come during the lunch hour. System of ordering and paying was very mess in the cramped. small space. But if you are looking for a authentic Italian place with lots of variety, this is your spot.

Best Italian food I’ve ever had in my Life! And that’s not exaggerating! So flavorful… The cheese was perfectly melted in the lasagna and the sundried tomato on the panini gave it a delicious«kick» So delicious!

Waiting over an hour for food… Worker using bare hands to serve salad… and then the finale: Mediocre, over-priced sandwiches. Uh-uh, nope, no way. Skip it. Another fly-by-night-er doomed to fail on 9th Avenue. Go farther North or South for better food. If you are on lunch break, pack a lunch, if you don’t have time to walk, rather then eat here. So tired of these lazy restaurateurs who could not care less about food quality and hygiene.

Damn fine sandwiches that are worth the fairly high price point(expect to pay at least $ 12). The restaurant itself has a really nice ambiance too — classic vibe but with a clean and modern look.

The place is very popular at lunchtime. Long lines go out the door and onto the sidewalk on nice days, but your order comes back to you fast once you get it in. Service isn’t super friendly(or super unfriendly), but it’s quick and efficient. The hardest part of ordering is actually figuring out who’s taking the orders. Sometimes people will stand around the menu board and slow things up. Know what you want before going in, and that will make everything faster. Unless they’ve got a hidden room(to be fair, seating is limited. Better be prepared to take it out at lunchtime unless you’re there early. Sandwiches tasted good – the bread was nice and chewy. The crust was not as crusty as I like, but the bread was still a lot better than what I get at most delis. The speck, arugula, cheese and roasted peppers on the Venezia sandwich all had very good flavor, but there wasn’t all that much Speck. The Il Vip was very good with a great balance of flavors between the sweet fig jam and the salty proscuitto. I can see why it’s a fave with the customers. So far, the Molise has been my fave sandwich, with the culatello being the reason why. It tasted great. Next time I’m getting the three meat special, and two of those three meats will be culatello. The prices seem appropriate considering the quality, but you don’t get quite the weight of sandwich value here as you do at Salumeria Biellese. Still, one sandwich was plenty for me. Their website is not very helpful. The pictures of the sandwiches are pretty to look at, but there’s no information as to what’s actually on them. Google searching the menu brings up a more detailed menu than the one on the website. Use Seamless or Menupages for the details on the food. I’m easy walking distance for Manganaro’s, Biellese and Sergimmo. If I want an old school Italian sub, I’m heading down 8th to Biellese without thinking twice, but for something a little different and interesting, I’m headed up to Sergimmo.

I’m a big fan. I’ve only come in for dinner but it was very easy to order, find a seat by the window, and receive my food. I like that there’s no table service — it’s no frills, easy, and so delicious. I had the penne vodka and it was enormous! This would be great place for a low key meal or date. There’s no table service btw, you order and pay at the counter and you find a seat. I also noticed the same thing that other reviewers have — the il VIP sandwich was on bread that was really hard to bite through. I’m not a huge fan of tearing/gnashing my teeth through my sammiches — it is a bit undignified on a date if that matters to you.

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The stand out was the salmon farfalle(I think it was a special) it was a real treat. We also had mozzarella sticks and a panini. The mozzarella sticks were awesome. The panini left something to be desired. The bread to meat ratio was not balanced in my opinion. Still I would def recommend this restaurant :)

I came in for the Emilia Romagnia sandwich($ 10.50). Fresh bread gives the sandwich a crusty body, although probably best when fresh. Inside is salty and fatty prosciutto with creamy and sweet fresh mozzarella, spicy greens, more sweetness from the thick and viscous balsamic, and some nutty and peppery pesto. A great place for a proper Italian sandwich in the area.

I’ve been here twice for the famous #1 Il Vip sandwich but found it to be mediocre both times. The sandwich comes with proscuitto, mozzarella, arugula, fig spread and balsamic vinaigrette which is a rare combination to find the city but did not meet my expectations. It’s a cold sandwich and the baguette they use for it is very thick and plain. I feel like it would taste better if it was toasted or pressed. On top of that, it’s a $ 15 sandwich! Although the sandwich is quite big and if you’re not to hungry, you’ll only need half to fill up, it’s definitely not worth the hefty price tag.

Get the #1 sandwich. I wasn’t sure about the fig spread because I’ve never had something like that before. It is… insanely… delicious. Perfectly crunchy baguette, fresh mozz… It’s exactly what a prosciutto di parma sandwich should taste like. Delivery took forever, but to me, that’s not what the stars are about. The quality of this food is excellent. My boss got the eggplant parm sandwich. He said it was amazing. Just get the #1 it does NOT disappoint

Delicious Italian sandwiches and panini. They use great bread and everything is imported from Italy. Fast friendly staff and some of the best Italian sandwiches I ever ate. The VIP panini is delicious it’s prosciutto di Parma, home made fresh mozzarella with a fig spread. Rice balls were also very good. A++++++

My friend, Barry, visited NY and brought me back some DELICIOUS vegetarian lasagne and cannolis. I have to say, the cannolis are the best I’ve ever had! They were not yet filled, which was great because it took 4 hours to drive from NY to DC, so they had no change in being soggy once they reached me. I returned to NYC last weekend to visit friends and made sure to pop in to this restaurant. I expected it to be more of a bakery since the cannolis were so wonderful. It’s a great little restaurant, was packed with lunch go-ers, and I made sure to stand in the line to get cannolis to take home. The line was served quickly so I didn’t have to wait long— and I took my order home with me. We didn’t have to refrigerate the cream and it was delicious by the time we made it home. Thanks again, SergImmo Salumeria, for the awesome noshes!!! We’ll be back!

3.5 stars. Overall high-quality ingredients but they load up the spread(fig jam in the case of the #1) and the meal tasted like breakfast toast with jam. The #1 has prosciutto. I may have been tempted to pluck out the meat and just eat the prosciutto because the sandwich is very sweet, like dessert. But at $ 14+ for a sandwich and my begging stomach, those temptations were gone. For the price, it wouldn’t hurt to add a bit more meat. Bread is fresh and tasty. Perhaps order a sandwich deconstructed? Then construct yourself. Fig jam optional ;)

I can’t stop thinking about the pasta with bolognese sauce. just cant stop! Place is super cute, easy to find and clean. You order at the counter and when your food is ready, they will call your name. They serve beer, wine and other soft beverages. My best friend and i shared the pasta with bolognese sauce, pasta with clams and baked clams. The baked clams were ok though. Nothing too special. The pasta with clams had a load of clam meat in it. The taste felt just right but just something about the pasta and bolognese sauce that we loved the most! I’ll def be back for more

Saw the great reviews, so I had to come try. Im not a huge fan of sandwiches in general, but L loves them. There was so many to choose from, but I normally go with what’s popular so we got the #1IIVIP and #7 Veneto. We both preferred the Veneto. L loved the fig spread on the VIP but I think it was too sweet which overpowered the prosciutto. The mozzarella was fantastic, I loved the ciabatta roll. It wasn’t too hard, a lil crispy and chewy at the same time, but it was so good. I’d eat that alone with balsamic vinegar and olive oil… $ 14 is a bit expensive, but they use quality ingredients. The prosciutto was sliced thinly. The Veneto is only $ 10 and it was delicious. I was able to taste the sopressata, the hot peppers, basically everything in the sandwich stood out. I was able to distinguish each ingredient, unlike the IIVIP which was still a good sandwich, but nothing I’d come back. Now L wants to come back and try every sandwich on the menu. We were getting sandwiches to go, but there were several diners having dinner and everyone ordered pasta. They looked pretty good, but I make a ton of different pastas all the time so I’ll just stick to the panini sandwiches. It took a while to get our sandwiches, but there was seating available and we had some time anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal. I’m looking forward to trying the Piemonte next time.

Came here to pick up the #1 Il VIP for dinner at work but I was not impressed. This sandwich comes with prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula, and a fig spread. Some people say the bread was too hard but I found it to be alright. I didn’t find it to be too dry either. Reviewers rave about the fig spread but I didn’t like it one bit because I found it to be way too sweet! I did taste traces of balsamic vinegar though and I found that to be delicious. The prosciutto was really salty but it usually always is. It’s about finding ways to counter the saltiness with the bread or ingredients in the sandwich but unfortunately, Il VIP fails to do so. The mozzarella was pretty good though and brought good flavors to the sandwich, as did the arugula. The restaurant itself seemed really trendy and all of the servers seemed nice. Ordering can be a little confusing due to the layout of the store. You first place your order with the guy closer to the back of the store(not the guy at the register). When your sandwich is ready, the guy at the register calls your name and that’s where you pay. Overall, I found their signature sandwich to be pretty mediocre and not worth the $ 15 price tag at all. It is not by any means considered a big sandwich, especially compared to some of the Italian sandwiches in Bensonhurst/Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. Sorry, but the hype is not real :/

Location: Located on 9th Ave, SergImmo is not that stood out. It immersed itself but remain popular on Unilocal.I saw its almost full stars on Unilocal after 400+ people reviewed. I knew that I would come here and check it out. To be honest, I am not a sandwich person so this review might be strongly biased due to that reason. Food: I had ILVIP. It was huge. The bread is hard-shell that is not what I like. The taste is combined with both savory and sweetness. I mean, I cannot take those opposite flavor all at once. And it’s 14 dollars. I … dislike it… pretty much, I should stop reviewing and going to sandwich stores. Because I just do not like sandwich and my habits could impose bias . I am sorry.

Reasonably priced, always delicious. I have tried majority of the listed sandwiches and don’t have a single complaint! They are very accommodating with custom sandwich orders. Be sure to get their Mozzarella in Carrozza(crunchy, fried bread and mozzarella gooeyness perfection) and the ILVIP(#1). You can’t go wrong here(pastas are delicious too) but make sure you either call ahead if you’re picking up or be prepared to wait.

Sergimmo can’t be missed as hungry patrons line up out the door. Over 25 panini sandwiches options and combinations, #1IIVIP is still their most popular because of their delicious fig olive spread! Sure, there are tons of other options for delis and sandwich spots in Midtown, but there is no doubt that Sergimmo Salumeria is one of the most popular. Although it’s actually just an authentic Italian deli, they are masters of traditional Italian foods such as pastas, antipasti, cheese, cured meats, and paninis. As far as sandwiches, Sergimmo is a bit on the expensive side, with options ranging from $ 9-$ 14. But you get exactly what you pay for, a huge, long crunchy ciabatta sandwich packed with your meat of choice and other homemade toppings such as their mozzarella, signature fig olive spread, cheeses, sweet peppers, sundried tomatoes and more. With over 25 different sandwich combos, you’ll be tempted to try something new each time you visit. On top of their excellent paninis, they have a list of pastas all available at $ 15(plus tax), which includes traditional items such as penne a la vodka and tortellini alfredo. There’s a homemade bar option too that has lasagna(meat or veggie) and baked ziti as well. All freshly prepared with tons of sweet and flavorful sauces and their homemade ingredients. Avoiding meats and/or carbs? Sergimmo also offers a variety of delicious salads with a majority of them dressed in their EV olive oil. And they are large and full of different topping combos that’ll leave you stuffed all afternoon. If you’re not avoiding meats, they work very well in their salads as well. To finish up your meal with something sweet, their freshly prepared cannolis are something that should be considered! They freshly squeeze the sweet, creamy, white filling into the shells each time they are ordered, guaranteeing the perfect crunch with every bite. Best of all, did I mention they do daily specials? Make sure to take that into consideration as you debate over what item to order from the menu of 50+ items. With all kinds of fresh options for different variations of authentic Italian food, there will always be something for you here.

No waiters. More of a café than restaurant. You go up and place your order at the counter. Very laid back place. You can order a bottle of wine for $ 35 Bucks get some cheeses and salumi and chill at a table. The night we were there we had garlic bread two pastas and chicken parmesan. Garlic bread was good. The bogognese sauce on the pasta I ate was to sweet. couldn’t figure out what spice made it so sweet. The pasta matriciana was very good. The chicken parm was just ok. Cutlet was to thick and the sauce wasn’t the best. Not sure I would go back. Probably much better pannini an sandwich place than dinner and pasta place.

So I’ve had their sandwiches and all is forgiven. Honestly two of the best made and best tasting Italian sandwiches I’ve had since… well since traveling to Italy. We also had one of their pasta dishes which I found to be too sweet, but the star here are there sandwiches and specifically the VIP(as everyone mentions– but warning: it’s a bit sweet as well) and the chorizo. Can’t wait to try some others…

Nice restaurant, I would say good lunch choice not so sure I would go there for dinner unless to pickup. My sandwich the #1 did not disappoint. The minuses — the place is very plain and basic; service was pretty bad, there were at least 4 guys behind the counter and I was there alone, it took about 5 minutes and some prodding to get someone to come over and take my order. Would I go back? If I was close by YES, but I would not go out of my way and make a special trip.

Had an absolute lovely time at this deli-style restaurant! We came here after work and the location was in a good part of the West Side. The décor was simple and clean; I was envious of the perfect handwriting on the chalkboard and the music and vibes felt as if we were in Italy instead of New York City. The service here were very friendly, professional and accommodating. We even waved goodbye at the end, with big smiles! The paninis here are to die for. Our personal favorites were the VIP(fig flavor was spectacular) and the Veneto. The portion sizes are good; one half of a panini was able to make me full right away. I was able to take home the rest of the panini(s), which was still amazing back at home, when you reach that late night craving(while watching Netflix). They have plenty of drink choices and I was happy to try the blood orange seltzer drink(Italian«soda»). We even tried an Italian brand chocolate bar and it was the perfect dessert; tasted like wafers inside! If you would like to experience a delectable taste of Italy(without buying expensive round-trip plane tickets), I suggest you try out this gem!

This place was heaven when I was in the city craving some decadent Italian food. I had penne a la vodka and it was as good as they come. Despite the authentic Italian reviews this place gets it has American portions(best of both worlds!!!). The guys were so nice and gave us complimentary cookies at the end of our meal. Will be back for homemade mozzarella!

Awesome find via Unilocal! This place is adorable and the food was excellent. I loved the chalkboard menu and items lining the counter space around the entire place. They’re known for their meats and cheeses(being a salumeria), but I ended up ordering the pesto penne. It was absolutely delicious. You can tell that the ingredients are most definitely fresh. The owners and staff are extremely kind, which is always a plus! Will definitely be back to try some paninis!

Luckily I don’t work or live near here. I’d be fat and broke… Okay fatter and broker. Unlike some other Italian deli’s the sandwiches here are about taste not size. While a satisfying meal, not the monstrosity of meat you’d get elsewhere. I personally find those sandwiches to be overkill. The ingredients become indistinguishable together and ultimately you taste salt and fat. Take the VIP $ 14(Prosciutto Di Parma, mozzarella, Arcadian mix, EV olive oil and fig spread) their signature sandwich. The sweetness of fig spread nicely contrast the savory meat and cheese. There is just enough of everything to be satisfying and well balanced, Also of note is the bread used here, nice and crunchy, like a good baguette. I’ve also enjoyed the Abruzzo(Bresaola, mozz, sweet peppers, Arcadian mix) $ 14 and Lazio(Chorizo, provolone, Arcadian mix, olive spread) $ 10. While the sandwiches aren’t cheap they are delicious and a great occasional indulgence.

I would be so happy if I worked around this area to come here for lunch everyday and they have free wifi. I ordered the #1 Il VIP because it’s apparently the most popular. Great fresh ingredients and they are not skimpy on the prosciutto or mozzarella. I loved the fig spread which gave it a subtle sweetness. One disappointing thing, was I thought the sandwich was going to be warm, but it was a cold sandwich. A hot, piping sandwich would have been very welcome in this cold weather. Also, the sandwich is expensive at $ 14 + tax. I thought it was going to be monstrous given the other reviews, but it was smaller than I thought. I think they took advantage of the location and jacked up the price. I also ordered the Mozzarella Sticks. They have it listed as a lunch special, but they sell it during dinner time too. The sticks come at 6 for $ 5.99. They were warm, but given the cold wish they were steaming hot and gooey. Marinara sauce was also cold. The sticks themselves are on the small side, but still delicious. 1 star off for being overpriced, but their homemade mozzarella and fresh deli meats are truly delicious. Definitely coming back to try their other sandwiches and maybe their pastas.
