Sea Wave Diamonds

So I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I actually traveled from the West Coast because I had heard NY diamond district prices were second to none, and it turned out to be true. I even managed to save money if you include the price of my airline ticket. And these guys had the best price I could find.
I had done a bunch of research coming in so I knew at least what I was looking for. They showed me only the stuff I wanted to see and didn’t try and up-​sell me out of my range. But they did offer a bunch of really helpful information I didn’t know I was looking for. They had some very good expert opinions and shared them in a way that respected the fact I had at least done a little research.
All in all, if you are in NY (or traveling to NY to buy a diamond) I think you should definitely stop by Sea Wave. Big thanks to Emanual and the guys for helping me find my engagement ring.

I used this place because it was recommended by a friend and couldn’t be more disappointed. I bought my diamond from them, and they custom made my engagement ring and «fixed» another diamond estate ring of mine. They messed up both. My engagement ring design is exactly what I wanted, however, after 9 months of light wear (I only wear it socially– 2days/​week), the diamond is loose. I took it to a more reputable jeweler who confirmed what I already knew, that I did not bang the ring, or damage it, but noted that the workmanship was extremely poor– they used a very soft platinum, the band was too thin, and the prongs were uneven! If I hadn’t noticed the loose diamond, I could have lost it because of their shoddy workmanship. Next, onto the antique ring. I asked them to resize the ring and replace the sapphires that had fallen out around the diamond. They obviously considered this extremely low priority as it took about 6 months, and when I got the ring back, I noticed that they had left nicks in the gold around each sapphire, and the area of the gold that they worked on to resize was rough and all scratched up. And to top it off, two of the «sapphires» were a completely different color than the rest– one was GLASS and the other, who knows. These guys are dishonest crooks and their work is shoddy. Find someone else for your precious jewelry.

Alex and his coworkers at Sea Wave Diamonds were wonderful to work with. They helped my husband design a custom engagement ring and gave him a great price for it. On top of that, my husband had initially asked for the ring to be made in 14k white gold because he couldn’t afford the ring in 18k gold, but they gave us the ring in 18k gold anyway because, «It would be a shame to make such a beautiful piece in 14k.» These jewelers are proud of their work and serious about their art.
We went back to them for our wedding bands, and again were very satisfied with the service, the product, and the price. Plus Alex was super patient with us as we went back and forth between white and yellow gold, and tried on different width bands about 50 times!
I would recommend them to anyone looking for fine jewelry, especially if you want something custom-​made. These are the kind of family business owners that care about their customers, and are willing to work with you to keep you coming back for more!

I brought a diamond to Emanuel at sea wave and had very specific requests with the style of the engagement ring. He spent a great deal of time with me walking through the options, showing me pros and cons, and pulling other pieces he had to give examples.
They do all custom work at sea wave and it’s definitely worth it compared to the standard setting you’ll get anywhere else down the street. The basket for my oval diamond was perfect — low setting like I wanted and spaced so the wedding band won’t collide with it. The pave up the sides is beautiful and the diamonds high quality.
I’d recommend everyone to go see the team at sea wave — especially if you want something other than the most basic setting.

My soon to be husband and I have bought a total of 5 pieces from Sea Wave over the past year. We first purchased my engagement ring, which was no easy feat. Searching for a marquise without a bow tie and with well proportioned facets and lots of luster is both rare and costly. We spent a lot of time scouring the diamond district and Sea Wave had by far the best stones. To add to that, their metal work is also the best that I’ve seen on 47^th street. We’ve also purchased our wedding bands, diamond earrings, and had a diamond necklace made from old family stones. Both the necklace and his wedding band were designed from scratch by Mike. I had an idea in my head for his wedding band, but nothing in print. Mike made it happen. This place rocks.

My husband I went to Sea Wave to make my engagement ring and both of our wedding rings. All of them came our beautifully. When I went to get the engagement ring appraised, the appraiser was very impressed and said he didn’t see that quality of pave very often. The whole staff is friendly and easy to work with and all three of our rings were done on time. We’re very happy we found a reliable jeweler in New York and would highly recommend them for purchases large and small!

Sea Wave Diamonds is awesome. My husband and I purchased our engagement ring & wedding bands from Emanual. He was very attentive with our needs and budget and we came out with rings we love. He addressed any concerns, issues we had before, during and after the purchase and really, what else can you ask for? The diamond district is confusing and often deal with sketchy business men, but thats def not the case with Sea Wave. They dont try to push you and def dont stand outside trying to lure you in as other stores do.

My fiancé and I bought our wedding rings here. We were both a bit apprehensive about the Diamond District, but decided to try Sea Wave based in part on the positive reviews here on Unilocal.I’m glad we did!
We found the selection to be very good for both men’s and women’s wedding rings — there were far more choices than at the big name stores we had visited previously (Tiffany, De Beers, etc.) Plus they are extremely flexible and basically offered to make us whatever we could dream up. Can we change the finish on that platinum ring? No problem. Can we make it a bit thicker? No problem. Can we make those diamonds on the eternity band a bit larger? No problem. So basically we were able to get exactly the rings that we wanted.
The service was attentive and the owner clearly knows his stuff. They were helpful without being pushy. It was the only store that offered without me asking to clean my engagement ring so that I could better see what it would look like with the wedding bands. In the end, the prices were very fair as well, without the huge mark-​up that is charged at some of the previously mentioned stores. I’m sure you can find cheaper at someplace sketchier, but probably not for this quality and reliability.

I have worked in Rockefeller center for 3 years and I always dread walking through the Diamond District. I thought that everyone was a scammer… until I went to Sea Wave. Their low pressure approach was a welcome change of pace. I told Alex my budget while shopping for an engagement ring and he patiently worked with me to find exactly what I wanted within my budget. I have already recommended them to several people and I cant say enough about what a positive and painless experience it was.

Have used Alex for everything from simple watch battery replacement to having custom cufflinks and rings made — work is all high quality, quick, and at the right price.
