Probably the most overdue review of all time. I first took Scott’s Pizza Tours in March of 2010, and again in January of 2016. Both times all Scott did was talk about pizza! Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge… let’s talk about stamps on particular canned tomatoes and what those stamps mean. Is that the Statue of Liberty out there to the left? Who cares, did you notice the subtle differences between the coal fired pizza with flour from Vermont vs the wood fired pizza with flour from Italy. I’ve tried so many pizzas in New York with Scott there to assist, and at each location he has something more to offer. «Did you see the Romano cheese run over the edge at Totonno’s… that will burn into the crust and add texture and saltiness to the cornicione.» I’ve also had the pleasure to chow down slices with one of Scott’s guides named Miriam. What a fireball of energy and pizza knowledge. All in all, the tours that I took were 6 years apart, and both were super informative, but also completely different as this tour constantly evolves. Thanks SPT team and keep up the great work.

From the first second that Scott arrives, you feel comfortable and listened to and at ease. I had no idea someone could know so much about Pizza, dough, flour, tomatoes, cheeses, countries, importing, pizza places, types of pizza, history and culture of Pizza. I didn’t love all 4 pizzas but i loved this tour and will do it again with anyone who wants to do it!

AWESOME! What a fun, informative and flavorable walk through the history of early pizza in New York. We had Miriam. I was disappointed at first. I wanted Scott. But, was I wrong. I’m not sure Scott could bring more information and Miriam was fun, personable and quick witted. We did the Original Walking Tour and it costs a little money, but well worth it. Fun, fun, fun!

Did this tour with my guy as a study break while finishing my masters degree. It was WORTH the time out of the library! So so fun, super yummy, and really educational. Scott knows his stuff and we even quizzed him about his pizza prowess in other cities. He is definitely a pro! Would recommend this to EVERYONE — locals and tourists alike. GOGOGO.

Did a private bus tour with coworkers and it was easily one of the most fun, unique and tasty adventures I’ve been on since moving to NYC one year ago. There was a different wine pairing at each destination and as a n00b, I felt like I was getting the inside scoop. Scott is knowledgeable, passionate, and let us choose the music on the ride. Hello, Alanis Morissette! You were everything this pizza tour was missing. I think this would be a fun activity to do while visiting, as it is something everyone can enjoy!

I cant say more good things about our pizza tour. It was so much fun and so much entertainment. Our tour guide was hilarious and so informative. We did the grenich Village tour. The pizza was great. I love that we got to try different kinds of pizza’s. The tour guide also gave us other pizza suggestions. We tried them out and it was fab. It was my first time having NYC pizza and now I am in love with it! I hopefully will get a group together from philly and have a private tour!

I have teenage and close-to-teenage nephews and a niece, and I thought getting them away from ipads and tvs and games would be a fun way to spend an afternoon with them. So… pizza! We had an awesome time with Scott — hitting 4 pizzarias. My younger nephews loved his energy and paid attention the entire time. My older nephew loved the pizza and was our cleanup crew. My niece took pizza selfies and enjoyed her time as well. I found a few new pizza places I’d never tried before, and my family got some quality NYC pizza eating time in. Kudos to Scott for making this an easy, and fun, way for families to connect over pizza!

Looking for a Christmas present for my boyfriend who is obsessed with pizza and not from NYC, Scott’s came to me via a Google search and Unilocal!Scott was extremely knowledgable and knew everything and all things pizza. He took us to pizza places I’ve never been and really explained the pizza making process of NYC to us. I really enjoyed it and loved making memories that we’ll never forget, thanks to Scott!

Fantastic! Super passionate about pizza! We took the lower east side tour. My college aged daughters loved it and we did too! Learned a lot!

We took the tour yesterday(Monday afternoon) and did the original crosstown tour that starts near Soho. Scott is fantastic at his job — such an entertaining, interesting, and friendly guide. It was a pretty big group but he managed it very well. Good mix of walking and stopping to enjoy a slice. It is good advice to bring a drink along if you are someone who wants one while eating. All three of the pizza slices we tried were delicious and we can now speak with incredible precision about cheese to sauce ratio(CSR), snag and drag, tip sag, and optimal eating temperature, among other things. If you too want to be able to analyze your pizza for maximum delight, take the tour! It’s a blast.

I have done this tour twice! I have never met someone who liked one thing as much as Scott loves pizza. The crazy thing is that he remembered me 2 years after I last took his tour. Both times was a private walking tour in Manhattan with Scott. He taught us so much about pizza. Stuff I never thought I’d care about learning but his enthusiasm for pizza is contagious and we all had such a good time on this tour! I actually have friends who couldn’t make it ask if I was going to organize another tour with Scott. Most likely yes!

Scott knows his pizza! He shares the history, the ingredients, and the establishments that make this food favorite special. Wonderful! Note: this review was in my drafts for a while so I’m sorry I was lapses in posting leading to this delayed review!

Buyer beware! My husband and I purchased this tour on our first time vacation to New York. We booked it in the morning for a 4:30pm tour. We were really looking forward to it. We arrived at the address listed and found a vacant building! We tried to call the company and just got a voice mail. We googled the company and the site said they were closed. I immediately called my credit card company and disputed the charge. This company fought the dispute saying that we agreed that there were no refunds period. If I could give this company no stars I would!

We tried Scott’s East Village tour(which takes place late Sunday afternoon) as this tour was one of our wedding gifts from our experiences registry. Having read the positive reviews, we expected the tour to be well done but it greatly exceeded our expectations! Scott is what makes this company so great… he loves pizza and it’s evident in everything he shares with you. You receive a little pizza notebook to document what you see and taste as well as three slices. We checked out Gnocco, Luzzo’s, and Joes. All great in their own way! You can purchase drinks along the way or bring your own water to cleanse your palette. Scott not only gives you a lot of background on how each pizza is cooked and the restaurants ovens, but he intertwines stories of his own pizza experiences and adventures that adds extra fun to the tour. Our tour was pretty small, 11 of us, so we got to know the other folks pretty well. If you make your own pizza, Scott can also provide you with some tips and advice to improve it which is a nice perk! Would recommend this tour to families, couples, tourists, and local New Yorkers. We hope to check out his tour in a different neighborhood soon! P. S. Ask him about his experience with Papa John… it’s a funny story you won’t forget!

Friends from out of town were disappointed that this guys gets over $ 40 a head to walk you over to a couple average NYC pizza places in the village. Please understand people — there are good and different pizza places all over NY, just map out a couple yourself or better yet go about your touristy day and grab pizza when the opportunity presents itself(which is all the time in NYC).

Scott is the man. More knowledgeable abut pizza than I will be on anything. He took us, and our summer school kids, on a little tour around West Village area. We tried four different spots, got to watch the Keste folks in their element(just a minute in the oven for those thin, beautiful pizzas!), in addition to trying a couple of institutions in the nabe. Super informative, super enjoyable, awesome tour. Highly recommend!

I went on this tour because Scott himself went to high school with my brother-in-law, so I thought I’d check it out. Apparently, Scott just loved pizza so much that he just started this company that’s doing amazingly well. Thanks to Scott’s Pizza Tours, I have now found my all-time favorite pizza place: Sottacasa. I did the Brooklyn tour in April for my birthday, and the tour guide was a stand up comedian on the side. Super funny, outgoing person. I’m not sure if it was him, or my boyfriend, that mentioned to the last pizza place that we went to(out of three) that it was my birthday, and they were so kind to bring out a canolli on the house! This was at Enoteca on Court I believe. In any case, this is a super fun activity to do, as you learn a lot about pizza and the different ways they are made, what benefits you get by putting the cheese on first over the sauce, etc.

Scott is an awesome tour guide! He knows everything about pizza and knows everything about places that serve pizza! We went for a work event and had a great time! Such a good opportunity to get to try different places in different neighborhoods. All the restaurants knew we were coming and had tables ready with pizza soon to follow. The little booklets you get to take notes in are so cute! Thanks Scott!

Pizza is one of my favorite foods. It had gotten me through some rough times in life. So while browsing the Internet, I came upon this tour and thought«why not?» The best thing about Scott’s pizza tour is Scott himself. He is so knowledgable about pizza. I learned so much from our tour. His excitement about pizza and the history of the New York pizza landscape is impressive. I love that he has these little gadgets like his temperature gun and his tiny pizza wheel. You get a goodie bag that is awesome! My favorite thing in it were the gummies that looked like pizza. The tour I went on was the original walking tour(I forgot the actual name of it). The pizza was fantastic. We went to lombardi’s, rubirosa, and prince st pizza. All very good and worth a trip down to soho. Oh and in case you’re curious, Scott does not eat drunk 99cent pizza.
