Sue is so kind, welcoming and informative! I’ve never put much thought into the types of fragrances I choose to wear. In the past, I just wore what friends and family gave me as gifts, but after taking Sue’s custom quiz, I realize there’s so much more to selecting a perfect scent.
Located in a lovely TriBeCa studio, The Scentarium provides the perfect atmosphere for fragrance lovers as well as those who are completely new to the perfume game. Sue creates an entire experience, allowing each client to sample her handcrafted scents from around the world before creating a custom bottle before their very eyes.
There was nothing intimidating about the experience, and I’m floored by how much I love my scent. You also get to name your fragrance, which is a fun touch. I’ll be wearing «Set Me Free» until my bottle runs out, after which I might have to go get some more from Sue! I brought it to dinner to show my friends last night and they loved it as well. Definitely check this place out if you’re up for feeling fancy. You deserve it!

I loved my custom fragrance that I made with Sue so much that I purchased a few bottles for gifts for my friends and family. Everyone that I gave it to was thrilled with the gift and loved the scent. It is now their favorite scent!

About a month ago I attended a very expensive event at the Scentariuim with Sue Phillips to create a signature scent for myself. I had such high expectations because of the rave reviews I read on Unilocal and the fact that it was so expensive made me believe I’d receive an amazing product and first class service. To my surprise, I left $ 200 poorer and so unhappy with my experience, the way I was treated, and the awful .3 oz scent I have yet to use. It was such an impersonal experience. I felt that Sue only cared about the money she was making off the event, and could care less whether attendees left happy with the scent and service. Her main objective was to get me to buy a bigger bottle of the perfume, not whether I was happy with the actual scent created. There are plenty of other custom perfumeries in New York City and I will never go back to the Scentariuim or Scenterprises.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a class and couldn’t have been more thrilled! I’m finicky when it comes to fragrance and was so happy to take away not only a wealth of knowledge about different notes and how fragrances are made, buy my very own signature scent! It was such a unique, wonderful experience and and I highly recommend!

My roommate and I both took the class: we smelled 20+ scents and learned what notes we liked. It was such a surprising experience… who knew that I didn’t like citrus and loved the smell of musk and whale sperm!
Loved seeing how my personality corresponded with my scent preferences. I was so impressed that I didn’t have a headache after sniffing for two hours. Sue said this was because she uses such high-​quality oils.
My roommate and I played mixologist and made signature scents. We loved our scent so much that we ordered the larger-​sized bottle.
