Who knew Sanrio opened a store in the heart of Times Square? And who knew this store would shut down soon? I suggest you visit before it closes just like Toys R Us.
It is quite difficult not to see the Sanrio store given the HUGE lifesize Hello Kitty monument and kawaii signpost on display in front of the store. In my opinion it was the most exciting part of the store aside from the HK snowcap/​mitten combo. The inside is a Hello Kitty wonderland, the size of a small to-​go Chinese restaurant, with severely overpriced merchandise, clothing, silverware, candy, sweets, and even soda covered with HK logos in bright colors. You will also find items designed in all HK characters including Melody and Keroppi, my favorite.
With the closing of the store, many items are marked 30% and 50% off (still severely overpriced), but fairly reasonable for HK merchandise. Note the prices on the tags are in fine print! You have to search for it.
I believe this Sanrio was setup as a test store to test the market in Times Square and considering the closing of ToysRUs and location next to Disney selling overpriced goods, it fits right in.

I came here just for the truck. I got a mug and box of four small cakes for $ 30 — which is a little pricey for novelty things like this. It was cute for photo ops, but I wouldn’t recommend spending money at the truck or the Sanrio store because it is SO overpriced.

Is there a negative star rating? This Sanrio branch deserves a negative rating on customer service and return policy. I purchased an item on sale but wasnt sure about the size. The employee (delroy) assured me that i can return it as long as i have the receipt with me. I tried to return it within 24 hrs but the supervisor in the store refuses to accept it because they said it’s their policy to not accept returns on sale items. I understand that but Delroy assured me that i can return it that’s why i bought the item. Do i have to pay for his mistake? He is now claiming that he said i can exchange it. I wish they have a cctv so they can see that Delroy said i can return it. I tried to reason with them and even tried to speak to the manager that the supervisor keeps on calling on the phone but they wont let me. Since the item will not be of any use to me (too small and they dont have a bigger size), i requested to get other store items equivalent to it but they still refused. In the end, despite their refusal to take it back, i just left it there since i cant use it anyway.
