Did I mention it was costly dining here? A rare treat for me when the truffles are in season and even then, the bill makes me wince. I should take J.P.Morgan’s advice and skewer it towards dining out at San Pietro, I really should… If I have to whinge about the bill, perhaps I can’t afford to dine here. By the way, the restrooms could do with basic upkeep as the current lackadaisical hygiene inside the tiny room is not impressive, guys.

The service was good. The menu extensive. The salad. Excellent! For $ 25, it should have been. The dinners were AWEFUL. So much salt, so so much salt. And I love salt! Do not go here …

Ok. Was good. Others loved it, although some didn’t finish their dishes. Mine was good. The chicken, Parma ham, Fontana cheese, with a little tomato sauce on top, and a white sauce surrounding. Good. A decent place. Was told that it was the lunch spot for billionaires. But since billionaires are not on my diet, I’ll stick to the chicken, fish, pasta, etc. service was good. Well, we mostly had the place to ourselves by the end of the meal. Four figure check, BIG tip, they were happy to indulge all the bs customizing their items, which they did with aplomb. Me, I still prefer Asian cuisine to Italian. I do like pizza, tho’.

The octopus salad is incredible. All the other dishes are great too. Service is top notch, and the scene here is very interesting. Great for a business lunch.

I invited clients here for lunch on Thursday and it was a disaster. No written menu, only specials. Always ask about the prices before you order. $ 800 for 4. Main, appetizer and $ 90 bottle of wine. Up-sell game on the wine. Tried to sell me a wine at 2x price when the wine I wanted was mysteriously not available. Sloppy service. Spilling San Pellegrino everywhere. Spilling the wine. Pouring a whole bottle in 4 glasses. Taking our food before we finished eating it. The most astonishing thing is they added $ 50 to the bill and hoped we would not catch it. We did, as well as other mistakes. I read from the reviews it is a scam. Avoid this place at all costs.

Just like all the other reviews. Food and service was great but extremely overpriced. $ 75 for pasta truffle appetizer? No wines under $ 100! Check the bill for mistakes. We were overcharged but they fixed it. Nice atmosphere.

The food was good but nothing special. And especially for the price. I was surprised how expensive it was for a regular lunch. The monkfish and the seafood salad were both good, but still…

We chose this restaurant because it had good reviews on Zagat– It was incredibly expensive and the food was nothing special. I particularly did not like the sardines– they were from the«specials» menu, so I was even more surprised when they cost 50 Dls! It is one of the most expensive restaurants in NYC and you don’t get quality for the price– Would not go back.

Nice pasta. Excellent service. Good choice of wine. But too overpriced. I understand it’s 5 avenue but still…

How this place gets any customers is a big shock… bottom line is very high prices combined with arrogant service for below average food… just avoid this place!

Extremely overpriced even by NYC standards. I cannot even begin to tell you how upsetting it was to pay those prices for a business lunch. This place is a disgrace to Italian cooking. My tiny veal meatballs were $ 30 for appetizer and seemed to have been nuked in the microwave way beyond a recommendable temperature. I burned the palate of my mouth. The swordfish was undercooked and truly nothing to brag about in flavor. Avoid this place and go to an authentic Italian restaurant as there are plenty in the City without such outrageous prices. This is an Italian person writing this review. Spending over $ 300 for lunch for 3 drinking only sparkling water(1 salad, 1 carpaccio, 1 swordfish and 1 grilled fish). Never again. Grazie.

Such a hard review to write. The food was outstanding — but HOLYCOW! Very expensive. We go to NYC all the time and are used to high priced dining — and really don’t mind paying for the prices for NYC meals. This was a bit over the top! Atmosphere — LOVEDIT. Very elegant and very«personal». Service — LOVEDIT. Very attentive and personable. Food — LOVEDIT. Tasty and nice portions and what I would consider authentic. Maybe the best chocolate Mousse I have ever had in my life! Cost — HATEDIT. Way — and I mean WAY too expensive. If you are the type that saves up money to go to special places — save it for something where you can afford to go she a show after dinner! If you have more money than you know what to do with — Go ahead. It’s delicious.

This place is so bad. They really lay on the«I’m Italian» BS(main server is portuguese with a practiced italian accent) and then serve exorbitantly priced outrageously substandard food and drink. In a city with Sooooo many great Italian restaurants, Italian restauranteurs, Italians and Italian Americans this place should be long shut down. I can honesty say don’t bother. A total sham. There are more expensive places in the city and many equally expensive in midtown. They’re not all worlds better but if you’re dropping well over $ 100 a head you should at least be discerning. A Michelin guide nod in ’07 was obviously the peak. Ten people. Not one had a good thing to say about their meals including many of the(many many) «specials»

Have been here over the years and it always exceeds my expectations. I love this place. Yes, I love the crystals hanging from the ceiling. My beau has been coming here for years and when we’re in town, he takes me here, among other places. This is a favorite. People are in suits or well dress(albeit the single business man and a couple of high end escourts — another story), but the staff is attentive, they will make you anything they have in the kitchen and the wine is excellent. Perfect pasta, nice veggies, eclectic ambiance. I will return.

What’s with the all the cheesy Waterford crystals hanging on fishing line from the ceiling? Why do I feel like my great grandmother decorated this restaurant? Why did they put a plate of potato chips in the middle of the table during dinner if everybody ordered fish or chicken? Why is their list of daily specials longer than the actual menu? Why was my simple chicken cutlet with green peas dish $ 42? Why was there a mafia«sitdown» at the table in the back corner? Will I ever go back to San Pietro? I think that’s the only question I have an answer for. Noooooooo!

I always stop at San Pietro Restaurant when I go to Manhattan. Mostly solo for lunch, though I have taken my mother and once my friends for dinner. I love it there and though I usually am solo, they always make me feel welcome. Great staff and great food, plus such an elegante restaurant. I will be stopping by September, 8th… as I will be in Manhattan one night before going to Spain and Italy. See you in September, San Pietro… Ciao! Eve Holmes

I would say 95% of the people dining here, were for business. So you’ll see alot of balding men in blue suits. The décor was weird with crystal balls hanging from the ceiling. They try to make this place super fancy but it comes off cheesey. The service was average, our waiter enthusiastically told us the 10 different specials in an accent we could barely make out. Our water and wine glasses were always filled. However, we didn’t appreciate them trying to up sell us on wine. They recommended 3 different bottles of wine that were clearly double if not triple the price of what we originally ordered. The food was blahhh too. I had the special appetizer of zucchini flower stuffed with mozzarella and truffle, fried. It tasted like fried dough and I did not get any truffle flavoring. I also ordered the monk fish, which was under cooked and chewy. Only save and grace was that I drank delicious wine and didn’t have to see or pay the bill.

The service is wonderful and friendly. I think to truly enjoy San Pietro you have to visit a few times and be comfortable with paying over $ 100 per head. Food we had was excellent from appetizer through to dessert. The menu is long and the font looks like the type you would see on a disclosure document. And hearing the specials listed off by the head-waiter is entertainment in itself. What a list. I had two of the specials — bucatini with sardines(app) and lamb — both were excellent Wine list is extensive and not designed for the faint of heart. Well worth a return visit.
