So, starving, I go into back into this deli. And I order a steak and cheese sub, and being my particular self, I specifically ask for provolone, with extra cheese, and black pepper, confusing the chef, who didn’t understand my English because I wasn’t nice enough to realize I had to speak a little slower because it wasn’t his mother tongue. I grab an orange juice and go to the counter. The shopkeeper(who doesn’t recognize me – he’s a different guy than from before) rings me up for $ 6.50, but my bank card is declined. Wassup? I cross the street to the Chase Bank, check out my account balance, and I have $ 0.77. Oh, cripey. So I go back into the deli and say, «I’m super super sorry — I didn’t get my salary this week. I only have $ 0.77,» and I showed him my bank receipt, «did you make the sub already? I owe you $ 4.50.» And he’s like, «no problem,» and he gets the sub from the chef. And I’m like, «I can’t pay you.» And he’s like, «no problem,» and he puts the sub AND the orange juice in the bag and hands it to me. I say, «OK, I’ll write you an IOU,» and get out my pen. He’s like, «no, no, no problem.» And I’m like, «no, really, here I’ll write you an IOU.» And he looks at me and smiles and says, «I trust you.» Samen Deli, you get five more stars on Unilocal! And I’ll be back with that $ 6.50ASAP.
