Domonique is an incredibly gifted stylist. She is not only an expert at maintaining the health of hair, but is incredibly skilled at creating beautiful, long-​lasting styles. Domonique has been my stylist for the past three years. Before her, my coarse, natural hair was often dry and brittle. She has consistently treated my hair so that it is better at retaining moisture and is, overall, much healthier. I trust no one else with my hair.
I am so beyond thrilled that Domonique now has her own establishment. The salon is warm, cozy and welcoming. Along with great style, you’ll also get an excellent shampoo experience!

So I’ve been going to Dominique for a while and I’m thrilled to see her at her own establishment! Having moved from another country where we are so spoiled by how cheap and great the hair services are and also decided to go natural, I was searching everywhere for a salon/​person that would make me feel like I didn’t do the wrong thing finally embracing my coils and boy are these coils coily! Dominique really does take her time and puts in an insane amount of effort to make you look exactly like you wanted to! I must say that a lot of people here will do a terrible job and still charge you handsomely for it and I’m happy to say that with Salon Gill, you get more than you pay for. I’m not an ardent Unilocaler and so taking the time of to write a review means I was very impressed by a service!
This place and the lady of the house will have you going back even when you don’t need to get your hair done! You’ll feel at home, you’ll not feel judged, you’ll walk out looking great! You have to consider her if you’re looking for a place that will give you a great weave, give your natural hair life and a wide smile on your face because of the value for money you just got!
Ps: I never ever 5 star a place! This place deserves them! That’s a first for me!

I have been going to Dominique for four years and am glad to continue seeing her at her very own salon. As always, Dominique continues to provide excellent customer service by beginning all appointments with a consultation. On January 29^th I received a Wash, Press, and Trim. My hair is fully natural. Dominique detangles with care, presses with caution, and trims reasonably (never taking of more than you want as the client).
Regardless of the service, I can guarantee that you will feel at home with Dominique. She is patient, transparent, and communicates effectively what she is doing!

Dominique is amazing. She completely transformed my hair after searching hard and wide for the past 23 years. My natural hair is very thick and curly-​it can look good but it’s very hard to manage when it’s dry all the time. Not only does she do an amazing wash and press that lasts up to 2 weeks, but my hair is so much more moisturized that it also now looks great when I leave it natural. She uses great products and can tell exactly what my hair needs. Sadly, I moved out of NYC but every chance I get to come back, I see her. She becomes personally invested in your hair and I hope she can do the same for you.

Cozy, chic salon tucked away right off of Central Park in Harlem on the ²⁄₃ subway lines. Service here is personable, Dominique takes her time to not only learn about your hair but also educate you on hair care. I always leave with an amazing style and a great experience. Definitely recommend for those seeking versatile styles or transitioning to natural hair!

I LOVE DOMINIQUE!!! She the owner of Salon Gill & always do an amazing job with my hair. Dominique has a friendly demeanor & expect the same from her staff. I wear my hair natural & truly don’t know much about hair & how to take care of it. Dominique takes the time out & explain what she’s doing & why (she knows what she’s talking about) she gives me tips on how to take care of my hair at home. Like I said at the beginning I LOVE DOMINIQUE!!! & I will follow her where ever she goes!

Salon Gill had a cozy yet posh atmosphere. When you walk in you don’t even feel like you’re in Harlem anymore. All of the equipment is state of the art. I personally enjoyed the full size mirrors, as I was able to see every part of the process take place!
I have natural hair and I wanted to color it without damaging it. I had never colored my hair before and I was super nervous. However, Dominique put me at ease with her calm and funny demeanor. She was able to get the exact color that I wanted… and without bleach! She even took the time to explain the coloring process to me.
