Tucked away underneath the grand St. Regis Hotel is a salon where celebrities, politicians, and business magnates have been for experiencing superior service and perfect style for nearly half a century. A few reasons might exist to explain the success of this hidden gem. Perhaps, it’s the award winning stylists or maybe it’s the old world ambience that evokes some nostalgia of a forgotten time. Sometimes great things cannot and should not be described by words. And sometimes you have to experience these great things to truly understand and appreciate them. I invite you to sit in Salon Fodera and experience the service and luxury that is often only reserved for the elite.

We(my wife and I) have been getting our hair cut at Fodera for almost 25 years, exclusively. We are discriminating perfectionists in every way, from décor to the artistry of our cuts. The Foderas have created an elegant, welcoming environment where everyone is made to feel special among the most elite clientele in the world. And the artistry of Sal, Gianni, Vincent, Joseph and Dee is second to none. Each and every haircut is tailored to each individual’s need. From the follically challenged to the follically blessed, you will leave the salon knowing that you look your best. BTW: Very interesting to observe that among seven reviews there are six with five stars and one who obviously must have had a bad day. Hope that person gave Fodera another try, for their sake.

I see Vincent for color and trim and he’s absolutely fabulous. I have very dark brown hair and color it to a very light honey blonde. I have to go every three weeks because my roots drive me crazy, but I think Vincent is fabulous. I love the salon because it’s small and quiet– I always disliked going to a salon with 30 women at a time. I found Vincent when I was planning my wedding at the St. Regis two years ago. He is very smart and listens to what you want(or what you think you want) but offers his opinion and tells you how it can work or not. He’s really great– I only wish I could make my hair look as good as he does when I’m at home with my own blow dryer–

I have been going to this salon for 5 yrs now. I see Vincent for color and Gianni for my haircuts, with an occasional manicure while getting my hair done. I couldn’t be happier. Great little spot in the St. Regis! And great cappuccinos !

A very weird experience. I made an appointment for my first visit and walked in to find the floor of the salon in a very, very unclean state. Hair from many previous services(many sorts of different hair) all over the ground around the stations, and from there it had been tracked into the reception area by people having to walk through it. There were 6 staff gathered around the reception desk visiting with one another, looking at photos, playing on a cell phone and eating candy out of the bowl on the entry table. No one was doing any work, and a long time elapsed before anyone even took a step toward the work area to consider cleaning it up. They were very friendly, took my coat, offered me a coffee, but it was still a very unprofessional vibe. There was only one customer actually getting a haircut. My stylist had stepped out before I arrived(a few minutes early) and came back in the front of the salon just a minute past my appointment starting time. The whole thing was weird and unprofessional, so I told the receptionist that I would need to rebook and then left.

excellent place to get an Italian syled hair cut — you can also get the old style shaving. Gianni is the best. he had been cutting my hair for many years. highly recommended.

Salon Fodera is definitely the city’s best. You are pampered from the moment you arrive with a cappuccino to the moment you leave when they brush any loose hairs from your shoulders. World champion hairstylist Gianni Fodera impresses with his precision haircuts and witty personality. While you’re there, don’t forget to look around, you might see a celebrity or a master of the universe getting a cut and manicure. So if you’re in midtown Manhattan, stop into the St. Regis Hotel and experience elite hair perfection.

salon Fodera is without a doubt the premier salon for men in Manhattan and from what I have heard and seen they are great with women too. The owner Sal and his whole staff treat you like family and their stylists have world class cutting, coloring and shaving skills. Now you will pay for this service and expertise. While I am very far from a metro-sexual I appreciate a good hair cut and close and relaxing shave. I think men’s cuts run about $ 50 and shaves about $ 20 /$ 25. However being in this underground«spa» is a little slice of heaven and their cappuccino is absolutely«fantastic» –you could park a chevy tahoe on the froth of their cappuccino – that’s how thick and rich it is!(the cappuccino is free by the way as are other drinks liker Perrier, wine etc) . Fodera is a kind of «who’s who» in salons. their stylists compete in international hair styling competitions and they usually win(you can see their trophies on the wall). And just about every famous TV and Film star that’s been in Manhattan has or has had their hair cut there from Trump to Dan Rather to Frankie Valli and many more as Fodera displays their photos and autographs in their waiting area. From what I hear most of these men are regulars and on more than one occasion I have seen a newscaster, Australian business and media mogol, or actor having their hair cut. I doubt there’s any men’s salon more expensive in Manhattan and I know there’s none better.
