I was hesitant based on the other Unilocal reviews but desperate times called for desperate measures and I’m glad that I tried her out anyway. I had a great experience w/Dr. Roston. She was very professional, thorough and knowledgeable. I went to see her at her Astoria location yesterday. My appointment was at 12:45 p.m. and i waited less than 15 minutes to see her. She came in examined me and we discussed my issue.(She wasn’t loud as other posts had mentioned). She got my test results back today, she called me to inform me of the results and called my prescription into my pharmacy. I had a great experience w/her and I am glad that I found her. She will be my doctor from now on.

Dr. Roston is a piece of work. I have been going to St Luke’s for prenatal care throughout some of my pregnancy, only because I can’t take the 2 – 3 hour wait for each visit. The obstetrician I had previous visits with(Dr. Snaggs I believe it was) was very nice but unfortunately is on maternity leave at the time. Yes Dr. Roston is uncomfortably loud but that doesn’t bother me as much as how cold and indifferent she is toward patients and their issues. I refuse to go back to see her, although she did not say anything blatantly rude, the manner in which she speaks to patients is unsettling. I gave her two stars because she is still a professional in her field and probably very knowledgeable and skilled.

Awful. She may be a skilled doctor, but I have called her office 3 times to find out results of a test she ordered(and was performed) a month ago and have yet to receive a return phone call. I have never had such an unprofessional experience with a so-called medical professional.(Note I posed this originally in summer of 2013; I never did hear back from the office)

I’ve been going to Dr. Roston for at least 5 years. It’s true, she’s super loud and you do feel like everyone else in the office is hearing your medical information. To her credit, she is thorough and knowledgeable, but I have wanted to find another doctor because of her loudness and awkwardness. Like another reviewer, I started going to her because she was a doctor of color affiliated with a reputable hospital. She means well, but she could certainly work on bedside manner. If you’re only going once a year for your annual exam, I’m sure you can get through it.

Dr Vivian Roston moved her office to 2 west 86 She billed me for«high risk» tests that were not covered by my insurance when I had my annual exam. And was never available to explain why. Her front desk took my messages twice and no one responded. When pressured the receptionist said the person who reviewed my bill said the tests was part of the regular screening. I don’t think the receptionist has any idea — it’s not covered by Aenta PPO. I don’t feel comfortable going to a doctor who ordered a $ 300 lab that was unnecessary and never bothered to explain it to me.

I came to Dr. Roston on the recommendation of a friend. I was excited because she’s a woman of color and I love supporting my people! That being said I should have left her waaay before I did. I arrived at the office and waited about 15 minutes to see the doctor, well the nurse. I remember the experience vividly because the nurse told me to undress from the waist down then she gave me a sheet to cover myself with. It wasn’t just any sheet, but a FITTEDSHEET. I don’t know how turned off I was about this, considering there are like a million flat sheets you can use if you don’t want to put a smaller sheet over your patients, but people, it was a full size fitted sheet, gathered corners and all. I’d never seen anything like it. While I waited at least another ten minutes I could hear the doctor speaking to her patient in a room next door. I thought, well, the walls must be thin, because I heard just about everything she was saying… that is until she came in. She was friendly enough but also a very loud talker. I’m sure the walls weren’t thin, it was just her voice projecting. She examined me and that was that. I didn’t like the vibe, but was too busy to look for another doctor at the time. I went a few more times, once for a UTI and was treated like a refugee. I realized that if I don’t have any signs of future life in my uterus she wants nothing to do with me. That feeling was very evident the other times I went, like gynecology was below her. After a few more visits I changed doctors and have been happier since(although now I’m on the hunt again!).

I’ve been her patient for years and both the support staff and the doctor are great. I always have a good experience, and she is a thorough doctor.
