I love this place. Pretty good Mexican for uptown. Service nice. Salsa delicious. Chimichanga delicious. Margarita strong. Cute place in a cute neighborhood. Definitely recommend and they deliver too.

Good drinks. Food is pretty consistent. Easy for a quick margarita and chips. I always enjoy the tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. The chimichanga is delicious and lethal.

We ordered the Fajitas(shrimp and steak), carne Asada and pollo de carbon. The Steak and carne Asada were overcooked, charred and burnt. You could taste the bitter taste of the carne as it was overcooked.

Food is good but it’s on the pricey side. Good experience for a date night and outdoor seating is nice in the summer. Good for groups and drinks are delicious.

Good food and fast delivery. I wish they would pay the people who do delivery for them some more or work to make sure they have enough time(at least 5 minutes) for each delivery. Delivery arrived earlier than expected, and I received a second call from the delivery person who spent some time yelling at me after it took a few minutes(less than 5) for my husband to get down to the lobby in our tall building.

A friendly neighborhood place my partner and I go to often. Food is consistently good and the frozen margaritas are addictive. A standout in the Heights, as good as if not better than most Mexican restaurants downtown.

Fast delivery! I love their burritos. I haven’t visited the restaurant in person only because it’s always so crowded.

Good food– service was a bit slow although the restaurant was packed. Salsa was excellent and the margarita I had was just ok whereas my friend’s jalapeño margarita was fantastic.

Came for drinks, and I enjoyed their outdoor patio the most. The salsa was OK, I’ve had better elsewhere, but the service was great!

So much for the customer is always right … My delivery took well over an hour and the receptionist was rude when I called to ask about it

I ordered a taco salad and when I got it, the meat was cold and not tasting good, I called and they not even cared about what I said, this was my favorite restaurant but I will never order again.

Ordered delivery absolutely ridiculous service. flour tortillas came in all sticky raw dough. Restaurant would just blame supplier and that’s it. Food wise. well the ingredient are fresh(too raw in above case!). and that’s about it. Cons — expensive for what you get. 6 shrimps in fajitas comes for 24 with tip. I can name 5 other places who can make it better for half. — taste = bland. No flavor you associate with Mexican food. — shouldn’t call it mexican. well this is the worst Americanized version of Mexican food you will get for your money.

I ordered delivery for the first time today… The Taquitos Rancheros Lunch Special served with rice and beans. Well, it came without rice and beans. I contacted Grubhub who told me the restaurant said the dish no longer comes with rice and beans, and apologizes that they haven’t updated the menu. Well, that’s all fine and well, but you still owe me rice and beans, because that’s what I ordered. Grubhub said they refused to honor their description. So there I was, with two taquitos and nothing to go with them. I had to appeal to a manager at Grubhub and asked that my rice and beans be delivered per the description, or I wanted a full refund. After the second attempt of Grubhub negotiating with Refried Beans, they finally agreed and sent me the rice and beans, which came about an hour after the original delivery. After I heated everything up it was pretty damn good, but it took all of my persuasive consumer rights knowledge and application tactics to get the full meal together! Great food but exhausting process. I wouldn’t order again for those reasons.

I ordered delivery. It was on time-great. The tacos were ok. The steak burrito had barely any meat in it– it was mostly beans and tasted really bland. The churros weren’t great — it looked like they sprinkled some sugar on it and called it a day. *Extremely overpriced for what you get.

As a new local neighborhood resident, I wanted to like this place, but after two visits, I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had ordered a chicken quesadilla during my first visit and it was awful. The beans, rice and chicken all tasted the same. I figured maybe I’d return and try their taco salad lunch special. It tasted worse than the quesadilla. Flaky taco shell, and again, no real flavor to the food. I have good taste buds, too. The customer service /wait staff is not good either. Never returned after delivering food to ask if my food tasted ok nor offered any refills on drink. I had to get up from the table and go to the bar and ask for my check. Some rude woman took my credit card, gave me a receipt and turned away. Never said«thank you». You’ve lost a customer today, Refried Beans. My best recommendation for those wanting to try this place would be to look elsewhere.

Pretty decent Mexican spot. But why oh why oh whyyyyyy did they name their restaurant«Refried Beans» ??? The name alone kept me from coming here for quite awhile, unfortunately. When I think about going all I can picture is a big old slop of refried beans on an ugly plate. Aside from the name, everything is fresh. Their nachos are realllly good and actually I had food envy every time I looked at someone else’s plate. The service is super friendly, and there is outdoor seating(yaya!). Happy hours make for some cheap margs and other drinks. — 1 star for the name(kind-of-maybe-but-seriously…)

Definitely check this place out. It’s nestled at the quaintest part of Washington Heights up the hill on Fort Washington. I always get the appetizer platter for food, which you can get with chicken, beef or veggie. It comes with tostadas, quesadillas and chimichangas and fills you up just enough. What’s the best though are the margaritas. The jalapeño margarita is to die for but the frozen specialties such as the Frida Kahlo are also excellent. I often stick a corona in but that’s not necessary. There’s plenty enough flavor without it. Peruse the variety of selections. If you live in the neighborhood like I do, you’ll be back and back again.
