Had high hopes for this generally good chain. Ordered a tuna melt. Good bread, but one thimbleful of tuna!!! What?

Most of my reviews are based primarily on service, since that’s really the only factor chains like this can influence. The staff at this location are terribly rude and lazy to boot. When I walked in, the entire staff were hanging out in the dining area. Not cleaning, not having a meeting, just talking. After I waited for them to grace me with a «hello», the woman taking orders allowed me to ask for a sandwich, then quickly dismissed me to greet a regular customer who continued to get special treatment for the entire visit. At one point the staff actually encouraged this jerk to cut in front of me, which he did! Never coming back here. Decent sandwich. Just decent.

Worst potbelly in the city. Manager threatened to fight me because I had the audacity to ask to use the restroom. Then instead of fulfilling his threat hides behind his smaller female employee like a massive *****y and runs away telling her to lock the door. Lo and behold he then starts screaming about how«thug» he is and how he’s going to rape my mother and how she’s a piece of shit. Says«I wish you would jump over this counter» and when I do, backs up and hides behind the register. What a joke. All this because the moron refused to open the bathroom door after I had offered to purchase a product. ****ing joke. Locks the door and screams«ill **** you up!» Behind a locked door. What a joke. Avoid at all costs unless you want to deal with an absolutely despicable manager who hides behind tiny women half his size.

Sandwiches are good. If you read the fine print at the bottom of the menu, there are options beyond the signature sandwiches, so you can pretty much order any combination of meats and toppings you’d like. WARNING: the peppers are actually really spicy– and I can tolerate a good amount of heat. On these sandwiches however, I usually end up taking the majority of the peppers off because they’re so overpowering, you can’t taste anything else. That being said, I actually don’t even go to Potbelly for the sandwiches, but rather the milkshakes. The chocolate malt is *fire emoji.* I like them better here than any other place in the city, and for $ 3.50 the price is better than everywhere else too.

I REALLYLOVE Potbelly Sandwiches. Better than Subways? YUP Better than your favorite bagel shop? YUP Better than what you make at your house? NOPE But especially if you are craving a well made sandwich, this is where I’d go. I always go for the chicken with cheddar and turkey. Both in the large size because Asians can eat. That is not a myth, it’s a fact. The premium toppings aren’t really worth it in my opinion but if you had to add on something that you are paying an extra 60 cents for, go for artichoke. It’s healthier for you. Otherwise, stick with the free ones. Price is comparable to their Financial District location. More expensive than Subways yes but quality also better. FAN.

They have a variety of sandwiches which is a good thing. Really good sandwiches and lunch spot.

I don’t know why I keep coming there, I don’t really like the sandwiches, it’s so basic, the bread tastes like cardboard and there isn’t any fun topping… For an extra buck, you can super size…

Order on their website, waited 15 minutes past the long estimate for delivery. I called, spoke to the manager, received a sorry and a subsequent hangup on the phone. I’m guessing I just wasted my time and my interest in this place ever again.

I’m not big on sandwiches in general, but a friend wanted Pot Belly so we dropped by. Was here one afternoon on a weekday … I was surprised by how spacious and clean this place is. I got the Grilled Chicken & Cheddar and it was pretty good. I had the Tuna Salad before from a different location … Taste wise, I felt the Grilled Chicken & Cheddar is so much better. Would I go out of my way for Pot Belly? I don’t think so. But it is a good sandwich option.

To be honest, I don’t really like the sandwiches too much, but that oreo milkshake is so good, it deserves a review.

After passing this place so many times, I decided to try this place today. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on wheat with bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato and onions. It was a very good sandwich. They also have very nice staff. I see myself coming back here

So I had heard great reviews about this place and decided to check it out with my mom on her lunch break. We ordered the Mediterranean veggie and the tomato soup. The soup was fantastic, a lot like paneras, but I think it’s better. However the sandwich was pretty terrible. We asked for no artichokes and the one guy making the sandwiches said he got it. But of course he actually didn’t. So he put artichokes in it, and it completely ruined the sandwich. In addition, the sandwich was relatively salty to begin in, most likely because of the hummus. I don’t think we will be returning. To begin with the service is subpar and in turn so was the food. There are so many other sandwich places in the city, so it’s unnecessary to return to such a place.

Avoid this place like the plague. I am appalled that they have 4 stars on Unilocal. Are you kidding?! Get a sandwich some place else. I came here to kill time before dance class and to grab a snack. I got a small(overpriced and bland) soup, which I saw them pour out of a prepackaged bag into the heater. The place was almost empty, yet they insisted it was open mic night. The line up was: 2 buddies doing amateur standup comedy(I’m pretty sure they were homeless guys) and a woman who was extremely shy and sang horribly. The whole ordeal was incredibly awkward for everyone. Patrons just wanted to eat and chat with others, but the«comedians» insisted on pestering each person with endless questions, hoping for some joke material to play off of. They were obnoxious, rude, and definitely not funny. Didn’t quite help that the following act wasn’t pleasant on the ears either. This place is an absolute joke.

I’m underwhelmed. Mostly by the lack of sandwich and salad selection(especially for someone who prefers healthy and/or non-meat). But also, what’s up, service? Why aren’t you there anymore? I feel like there really isn’t a reason that it should take *so long* to get a sandwich right. Or get the soup served. There is just something missing with the system. Overall, this is a decent lunch spot if you don’t need to make it too quick and you love meat of all kinds. For others, walk on.

Good ol’ Potbelly’s. The pizza sandwich hits the spot on a cold, rainy afternoon and you always feel good walking out afterwards.

Definitely a better choice than subway. I had the Wreck sandwich, it was pretty decent but not something to write home about like a Katz’s or Lenny’s. Cookie was also not bad. The pickle is huge and pretty run of the mill. Also, for some reason a few sandwiches that were on the menu were unavailable that day.

I’m lactose intolerant and Potbelly still lures me in for their milkshakes. I feel like complete shit afterwards but it just tastes soooooo good! I always send my coworkers to fetch me milkshakes from here and they’re getting addicted. I love the layout design of their menu and the workers are always friendly. Haven’t tried anything else except for their grilled chicken cheddar sandwich which also ruined my insides… but so soooo good otherwise!

Overall I like this place and generally come in two or three times per month. It’s right next to my favorite coffee shop(Bourbon Coffee) where I spend a lot of time in order to avoid anxiety-riddled law students. If I’m hungry, I pop into Potbelly for a quick sandwich before I head into the coffee shop for a caffeine fix. FOOD: definitely a couple steps above a typical lunchtime experience, but still a step or two below restaurant quality and the options are a bit limited. I’ve had a couple of the sandwiches on the menu(the Italian and the turkey sandwich), and they’ve all been quite tasty and fresh. They run it through the oven when you order it, so it always comes out nice and hot. You can order sandwiches as arranged on the menu or make your own(though making your own will probably be a bit more expensive than what’s offered on the menu). They also have shakes and other fare, but I’ve yet to indulge in those. You also have your choice of condiments and/or other ingredients like lettuce, tomato, etc. Pretty standard fare in that department. Always very filling. SERVICE: unlike many NYC lunch places, the service here has consistently been quite excellent. They get your food to you quickly and they’re always very pleasant. I was actually taken aback the first time I came in because I’m not used to that kind of service during lunch. PRICES: this is where Potbelly stumbles a bit. The sandwiches, alone, tend to run $ 6-$ 7. If you opt for anything else and a drink, you’re quickly looking at a $ 10+ meal. Part of what’s deterred me from the shakes and other options is the fact that I’d easily be up to $ 10 or beyond at that point, and I generally like getting lunch for $ 5-$ 6(I’m a big deli patron during lunchtime). It would be nice to see some kind of a «combo» option that would give you a bit of a discount on an entire meal. Whenever I come in I just get the sandwich and skip the rest.

I’ve had friends rave about Potbelly to me in the past year. My past with«chain» sandwich shops was mostly focused around shops like Blimpies, which ruled the sandwich kingdom in my brain for many years. In more recent time, I have enjoyed Quiznos quite a bit for their heated sandwiches, and Potbelly follows that trend, but does it in spectacular fashion. Located on busy 14 street, a stone’s throw away form Union Square, this location is one of the newer shops in the area, taking over a series of old, abandoned store fronts and bringing new life to the area. The interior is really nicely laid out. The front has table seating and towards the back is the ordering area/cashier section on the right and tall tables and chairs to the left. The feel of the shop is an old time store out of the 20’s, but with modern shine and sensibility. Old style curved lamps meet shiny tile on the walls while prints of pictures from New York City’s past hang on the walls in ornate frames. It’s a comfortable space for sure. The young ladies who took my orders were super nice as I fumbled through the ordering process. It’s three steps: 1. Choose bread type 2. Choose sandwich 3. Choose extras(vegetables, sauces etc.). I wound up opting for a turkey and swiss sandwich on whole grain bread with mustard, lettuce, tomato and their hot peppers. I stress *hot* peppers because these things are no joke. They are sweet, spicy and have a bite all at the same time — they even sell them in jars! The sandwiches are heated up so the bread gets wonderfully warm and crisp on the outside while still saying soft on the inside. The meat and cheese were heated up wonderfully and the veggies were nice and fresh. I get what the big deal is now and I will happily haves me some Potbelly in the near future!
