I’ve really enjoyed my 20+ experiences at this studio — both Ana and Chris have a very keen desire to understand my situation and focused on a regimine that was very custom to me. Great views from their studio too.

Pilates in the Heights is located in an apartment in the 9 th floor of an apartment building. Both instructors know a great deal about pilates having suffered injuries and used pilates to recuperate. Classes are offered in small groups or as private sessions. Classes are expensive and if a package is bought, there are strict rules regarding how and when the package is used. The instructors suggest attending classes at least twice a week and discourage anything less. A package of classes must be purchased at least a week prior to use. Times for classes accommodate people who are free during the day, with few group sessions available in the late afternoon, evenings, and weekends(only 1 group session on a Saturday morning). Sessions are obvious. Routines are almost entirely fixed, and I find I do the same routines everytime I attend. When in a group, certain regulars get most of the attention and I often found I was just waiting around for instructions. Members of a grouo session have to be instructed what to do, it is not the sort of studio where you can get on with your workout routine. All in all the instructors are nice and exhibit a great love for pilates. They have a tendancy to point inadequacies about your body(e.g., strength, height, weight, right/left side weakness) during a session, which can be a sensitive topic, but I guess we need to be reminded why we need to be there. Bottom line, they want you to take private lessons, and if the funds allow it, do it, as the body will begin to feel stronger with any form of exercise.
