Meh. As a non-vegan this place was underwhelming. The chili was just okay. The«cornbread» was very cold to the touch(why?!) and tasted a little better than cardboard. The Brazilian nut chai tasted like water with cinnamon. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing was very good. The best part of the experience? The waitstaff was clever and charming and the decorations made the place feel comfortable and warm. I’d only eat here again if I was entertaining vegan friends from out of town.

I make it a habit every weekend to come here for a quick lunch. I’m obsessed with the Japanese pumpkin sandwich and their daily veggie biscuits. Such great vegan food! I highly recommend!

This review mainly reflects the quality of the service. It goes against every one of my instincts to write an unfavorable review but my experiences with the service at Peacefood have become progressively more frustrating. My boyfriend and I love the café and restaurant and as vegans really value its presence in uptown Manhattan. We came in for dinner two nights ago and though our dishes were mostly quite satisfactory, the wait staff was not. 1. We were served the wrong dishes(sure, mistakes happen). 2. Check-ins were sparse to non-existant except for the one time our waitress asked us if we had gotten our pizza which we did not order. 3. In spite of being seated right next to the kitchen window, register, and drop off bins, our plates were empty for a solid 15 minutes before any of the three staffers came to take them away. 4. It took us another 20 minutes to receive our dessert and latte order even though we could plainly see it sitting on the counter for the majority of the time. If I had not flagged down our waitress and told her, «I think our food is on the counter» we would’ve had a much longer time to go before seeing it on our table. The latte was only warm at this point. 5. We paid with a gift card and though our bill was less than the value of the card we were given back a receipt with it displaying zero balance. Upon asking our waitress about what happened, she apologized with, «I’m sorry, I don’t know where the money went.» Under more normal circumstances I would give Peacefood a 4 – 5 star rating because the food is generally quite good. However, service needs to be improved if they want to pull off their overall menu price spike.

Very mediocre yet overpriced Vegan food. I had this place bookmarked for so long and really wanted to like it but it was such a disappointment! The good reviews must be from people who have never had really good vegan food like Quintessence in East Village or Café Gratitude in Los Angeles which are both amazing! Those 2 are pricey but worth the $$$. Even more affordable options like vlife, cinnamon snail, and beyond sushi are better in terms of taste /quality AND provide a better value. The raw vegan lasagna tasted as though it wasn’t made with the freshest ingredients. Couldn’t manage more than 2 bites. Probably would not eat it again if you paid me. 0⁄5 The raw sushi was ok. Nothing special but not awful. A bit bland if you’ve tried flavorful options like beyond sushi but at least it was a good portion size. 2⁄5 Japanese Pumpkin sandwich that everyone raved about was gross in my opinion. I couldn’t even manage more than a bite. The bread was cold and tasted stale. The stuff inside the sandwich was oddly and unusually SWEET. I have had Japanese pumpkin before and am usually a big fan of everything with it but not the case here! Another thing I probably wouldn’t eat if you paid me. 0⁄5 Chickpea fries were actually pretty good but overpriced for the small portion… I believe it was around $ 9/$ 9.50. Tastes like something you can get a the frozen food section of trader joe’s. 4⁄5 for taste. 1⁄5 for poor value /portion size. To top it all off? Awful service. We had to ask for water 3 times before they brought us any… I rarely consider spending money on food a «waste» but in this case, I seriously can’t believe we wasted over $ 60 on this meal

Cakes, cookies, sandwiches and more. All vegan. AMAZING. I have some nut allergies and when I asked if any of the items had nuts in them, the guy behind the counter handed me a binder filled with the ingredients of every single item they have. I’m vegan not by choice but because of food allergies, and I really appreciate restaurants that have that kind of information available for customers. I will be back many, many times. I had a magic cookie, chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate cookies and a slice of vanilla cake.(Don’t judge me…)

A truly remarkable vegan spot – THECHICKPEAFRIES are an absolute must with their creamy dipping sauce & the Strawberry Shortcake is what dreams are made of Caesar Salad was also excellent – the tempeh was an interesting texture I wasn’t sure how to feel about but the dressing was remarkably creamy. Brazil Nut Chai was also out of this world! I’m coming back.

I returned on a weekend morning for breakfast and found the ambience to be much more relaxing than dinner. The tofu scramble is as good as ever, and the coffee with soy milk is excellent. Delicious, healthy breakfast at fair prices(for the UWS, anyway)!

While spending a day on the Upper West Side doing a Holiday concert marathon, we wandered in here in between shows and are SOGLAD we did! The décor is casual but comfortable, warm and friendly feeling. The prices were very reasonable especially considering how generous the portions were. My husband had the vegetable plate that most people were ordering along with the pumpkin soup. He is a amateur cook himself and raved about all the different spices and ingredients which made the soup delicious. I had the veggie cheeseburger which was very filling, and one of the best ones I had anywhere. We shared the chickpea fries which were out of this world. It was a Sunday afternoon and the place was very full. By the time we left every seat was taken. For a street that has 3 vegan restaurants within a stones throw of each other, I can see why this one was standing room only at 5:00 pm! Looking forward to returning soon.

Had a fantastic time at PF Café today around noon. Environment was awesome. Perfect location on Amsterdam, which doesn’t get enough attention. Wonderful server and wait staff during our visit. Very tentative, knowledgeable, and no rush. Food: it was very good. Phenomenal actually. Scone was out of this world, and the cinnamon bun, my better half ordered, — and I quote, «was apparently the best cinnamon bun, vegan or non vegan, that they have experienced.»(They also got the waitress to pop it in the oven so it would be soft and warm. Game changer.) The Raw Pizza was very good. Steep at $ 18 for what you are getting, but very good. It’s exotic so I didn’t mind the price. But probably won’t order it again, unless it was less than 12. The prices were great in comparison to other shops offering similar food items and quality. Recommended!

It’s a nice shop with lovely ambiance and the location is great. The two times I went there it took them a lot of time to get my order. The place is clean in general and there are a lot of options in the menu and the desserts look fantastic. What I found disappointed was the drinks. I love juices but not with my lunch, I would have preferred either a soda or a lemonade, something more simple that the options they have. Something they can improve is the cleaning of the bathrooms.

Every time I come here something goes wrong. Today I got the brazil nut chai w soy milk and the 4 vegetable plate with kabocha, eggplant, brussel sprouts and bok choy. The greens were cooked well and the eggplant and kabocha were both tasty although a bit undercooked and too crunchy. But whatever, the food exceeded my expectations, given my bad experience from prior visits. The service was horrendous. I sat alone on a two-top and when my food came it was placed at the far end of my table. Nobody ever came to check on me which is ok. But at the end of the meal the blonde girl put the check on my table first and then asked if I wanted any dessert as if she already knew I would say no. I would have got a cookie or brownie or whatever but after that I decided not to. So I took out my card and it took her about half an hour to come back and ring me up. With no «thank you» or anything she left the check for me to sign. I actually chatted with a guy working here and tonight happened to be his first night. I asked him how the evening was going and he said«lots of water refill.» I think that’s exactly the case with the service I got today. Water refills and nothing else. It’s been a long while since I last left a minimal tip.

Love the food at Peacefood! It’s some of the best vegetarian food I’ve ever had. I recommend having the«chickpea fries» for $ 9.50, an award winning recipe with a hint of indian spices, served with house dipping sauce. I also love the vegetable tempura, $ 10, served with minced daikon, ginger & soy sauce. Sometimes they have specials like the vegetable pot pie. I love love love the veggie pot pie! It was so creamy and delicious. It’s filling but doesn’t make you feel sick after you eat it. The strawberry cheesecake is delicious. I’d recommend having that for dessert. It’s $ 6.50. They have a nice selection of hot teas. $ 3 for a cup with free hot water refills. If you live or are visiting New York, I’d recommend visiting this restaurant. Great food. Lovely staff.

If you are vegetarian you will love this place. I took mu boyfriend here who is a meet lover and he just loved this place. I think I will be allowed to do some vege food at home after this ;) I and my boyfriebd thought that this was better that any meat food. And the staff is super friendly!!! Remember to ask dinner list that is available after 5pm. They are a bit more expensive about 15 $ but totally worth it! They are so tasty and has so mush taste in them!!!

I have been eating at Peacefood for around 5 years now, and at this point have had everything on the menu at least 5 times. The food and baked goods here are consistently excellent-some of the best food I’ve had in my life. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed with lots of seating and nice lighting. Service here, especially at this location, used to be very hit and miss, but lately everyone working is really lovely-especially the girl who took my phone order today. So personable and friendly! Everything on the menu here is delicious, but here are a few of my stand out items: –Tempeh avocado sandwich –Fried seitan medallion sandwich –roasted Japanese pumpkin sandwich –Caesar salad –nachos –ANY/ALL of their seasonal dinner specials –strawberry shortcake –ANY pastries and cakes Seriously, this is some of the best food in NYC, and it will forever be a favorite of mine.

Service is fantastic! love the PFC Unchicken strips and the Shanghai dumplings are to die for. You MUST order the dumplings whatever you do. Salad is for rabbits, but I do have to say that the fluffy quinoa salad is DELICIOUS. I love the corn and the avocado. I also loved how the dressing was light but super flavorful. I think PFC can be a hit or miss depending on what you order. I really did NOT like the key lime pie or vegetable tempura. However, my friends love and swear by the vanilla cake.

Work took me to the upper east side and I remembered someone mentioning all the great vegan/veggie places up there. So I took to my Unilocal app and found peace food. Walking in it was exactly what I expected. Every staff member had a «look» my waitress looked like a pin up. The doorway was stuffed with expensive strollers. I snagged a seat at the bar. I asked for s recommendation and ended up with the veggie burger. The fixins and bread were amazing made it hard to tell the patty was not beef. I was overall happy with this joint.

I’m so not a vegan. A veggie. A paleo-eater. I’m definitely not a dieter or someone who even spends an iota of energy on what she puts inside her mouth. However, Peacefood café offers the most delicious, creative, healthy meals and juices. I’ve eaten here a couple of times, and I must say, I rather enjoyed the soy nuggets and the chickpea fries. Also, I was pleasantly surprised when the entire café staff starting singing«Happy Birthday» to me while bringing me the most delicious chocolate cupcake. If you’re looking to add another way to dine that doesn’t make you feel bad about yourself, then, grab a seat and eat PEACEfully. :)

The food has always been great at this restaurant and the desserts too! So many fresh vegan desserts: cookies, brownies, macaroons and cakes. They even have raw desserts like cashew cheesecake or key lime pie. They’ve definitely come along way since they first started, by that I mean the service is now pretty good. The staff was very pleasant from the moment we walked in, and was attentive throughout the whole meal. Their sandwiches are delicious! I did notice that they put pesto on all of the paninis(they could switch it up though). The soy nuggets were tasty, the toasted sesame was a nice touch, however I didn’t like it as much because it tastes like the real thing. I really enjoyed the chickpea fries(seasoned with Indian spices). I managed to savor a piece, and despite consuming so much food, still managed to squeeze in some desert. If you want a satisfying meal: whether you want a hearty dish or light snack, you should give Peacefood a shot. Pro tip: The desert choices here are plentiful and will surely take care of that sweet tooth.

Sehr stylisch-aussehendes veganes Restaurant in der Upper West Side New Yorks.
