I work nearby and come in somewhat frequently and I’ve never had an issue with the service. Food is always prepared efficiently. Several options for vegans for here, which is I even eat here!

In my opinion, stay away from this mediocre-bad place. Small portions, Expensive prices not very nice staff and be careful or they will overcharge you like they did in my Salad once and they just did now on my egg sandwich.

The cooks were very rude. I ordered food and ate it there, when I asked to use the restroom one of them told me no and told me to order more food. I will never eat here again.

Seriously, if you are going to charge $ 10 for an egg sandwich and some home fries, at least make it good. Total shit– cold potatoes, stale roll, chewy bacon. It’s a deli in Midtown for christ sake, if you can’t make an egg sandwich have some pride and close down. Slightly hung over and was really looking forward to a nice breakfast and these a-holes ruined it!

Ever since they changed management, this place went downhill. The manager is rude, the front cashiers are not nice, no smiles, but a blank face. They keep messing up my order, over charging me. The prices went up??? the food is horrible. A medium size cannoli cost $ 6??? seriously??? I will never buy my food there again.

Really annoyed at this place. I totally get that it’s close to Herald Square but they need to step up their cleanliness game. I appreciated the not so disgusting restroom upstairs and decided to buy something to keep me an honest woman. A 20oz bottle of seltzer(meant for 1 person) was $ 3.54, including tax. Yaaasss, I realize this is NYC and it’s near Herald Sq. but that’s a joke. If you need a break from shopping, to sit and have a coffee or snack, they have upstairs seating and restrooms.

Pax is a great lunch option to break up a busy day of holiday shopping. Located in a busy area where most of the food options are either junky or very pricey, Pax is a nice middle ground. Food is good, service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. Two sandwiches, water, and small coffee cost under $ 22. Seating is very limited on the 1st floor, but additional seating is available on the 2nd floor.

Went there about noon on Tuesday, the store was busy, but the line moved smoothly. The restaurant was clean, the floor had no trash, the display was clear and easy to grab and go, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was fresh, I got a salad and the lettuce was very fresh, the add ons such as the chicken breast was not dry, the avocado was fresh, the tomatoes were freshly cut. Freshness is all I’m saying for this trip.

Way overpriced for less than average food. I got a cookie here that was stale and rock hard(paid almost $ 3 bucks for it!) and a burrito bowl that was $ 10 with hard and dry chicken in it. Their salad I got was less than average with barely enough dressing for over $ 10. There are MUCH better places around the area for much less money. Today is the LAST time I’m going to PAX!

popped in here for a quick croissant. it was the greasiest thing i’ve ever seen, the oil made blots on the packed. asked someone to warm it up and he basically set it on fire.

Food was good here and the cooks are pretty flexible(I asked for a modified version of a menu item). Would come back again.

In the middle of 42nd Time Square. Good quick service and cheap prices for NY/Time Square standards. Food here was cheaper than the restaurants near our hotel in Hell’s Kitchen. $ 8.14 total for bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes, toast and small coffee. $ 5.95 for a stack of 3 buttermilk pancakes. This place is a kind of a hidden gem and can be missed if you’re not looking for it.

came here for lunch yesterday. i thought i would try something new since i always stick to my basic chop’t or just salad places for lunch. i was really disappointed. first you choose the green you want — they only had mixed greens and spinach & escarole which are super limited. next were the add ons — there were such a small limited choice, however, i do have to say they were nice and fresh. lastly, there were such few choices of dressing. the reason i love a lot of these other salad places is because they have sooo many options for dressing which always makes your salad a bit different and intersting. there were only a few here at PAX, and they were your basic vinegarettes. lastly, my salad was really expensive! so i walked out of there really unsatisifed with barely any toppings on my salad and having paid the same amount i would have paid somewhere else for a better salad. considering this is your basic run of the mill deli lunch spot, save your time and money and go somewhere else for food

I am officially TERRIFIED of the staff here. Came here on a Saturday afternoon — not crowded at all. Ordered a salad — it was delicious. I asked the guy George for extra dressing and he wanted to MURDERME. I said sorry and thank you about a dozen times and all he kept doing was MEAN-MUGGIN’ MEHARD. ALL I WANTEDWASEXTRADRESSING — RELAX — I“LLPAYTHEUPCHARGE. Then came the lady ringing me up — NEXT! ISTHATBOTTLEOFWATERYOURS?! I basically got screamed it… she was whispering in another language to mean muggin’ George who was next to her and they were both staring at my girlfriend & I like we were from another planet. Have they never seen a gay couple before in NYC? $ 10 Gaucho salad with extra avocado was delicious. Tasted even better because it was on my girlfriends company card. But DAMN — the staff here scares me.

Food is mediocre, small portions, and super expensive even by NY terms. I’m not sure who they are trying to cater to, but when I’m on my lunch break I can go to a smaller deli for more food that tastes better for a fraction of the price.

I hate this place. 98% of the people who work here are rude and dismissive. Mostly the cashiers who look like they want to kill themselves. They just rub me the wrong way. They also have the nerve to charge $ 4.30! for a 5.3 oz of Fage yogurt. Never coming here again.

The worst breakfast I’ve had in NYC. we asked for a cappuccino, and they served as the biggest one without questions, the yogurt it wasn’t yogurt. It’s granola with a bit of yogurt(avoid it!). And the sandwich was awful, not quality ingredients(or perhaps rotten or something).

I have seen several Pax locations around NYC in my visits there but hadn’t yet tried one out until a few days ago. I was in kind of a rush to get breakfast and Pax exactly met my needs. It’s the type of place where you order right at the counter and then pick up and pay for your food and take it to a table. I ordered a basic breakfast — eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. All was fixed right there in front of me at the counter. The portions were a good size and everything was cooked just right. The potatoes, in particular, were quite good. Scrambled eggs and bacon are pretty much the same everywhere you go, but breakfast potatoes can be a differentiator, and I really liked theirs. They didn’t taste like frozen potatoes, and were a good size and seasoned well. The toast was also good quality and came in a foil package that I think helped to keep it fresh tasting. The price was extremely reasonable: I think I paid about $ 6.50 for a filling breakfast. That’s a real good deal for NYC. Really recommend this place for a quick and basic meal.

Rudest Restaurant Staff in NYC. If it were possible, I’d give it 0 stars. The food is probably OK, but the staff is horrendous. This is the second time(only because I forgot the first visit) we have been there. Staff doesn’t smile, barely responds, serves food like they could care less. We were there at 6:30ish, and asked when they closed. No response. I asked if we could eat there and got an affirmative grunt. Then by 7:20 or so they were knocking over chairs while cleaning, locking the restrooms, turning lights off, telling people to leave. And there were quite a few people still eating. My recollection is that staff had an attitude last time as well. Do yourself a favor and go down the block to Zeytinz during the day and Quotidian at night.

Propre, plein d’options s’offrent à vous pour ce lieu qui se veut une coche au-dessus du «deli» et une coche en-dessous d’un restaurant. Rien d’autre à signaler.

I’m visiting new york and have food restrictions so when I saw this place right around the corner from my hotel I was in heaven. Fresh custom salads, several variety’s of soup and sandwiches not to mention drinks and sweets of good variety. Fairly priced, simple honest food!

USED to have great salads, with great basics, variety in sizes and inexpensive toppings, but changed their salad bar to make it more expensive and to only offer one size of salad… Why ruin a good thing? Disappointing…

There’s a PAX on 40th and a PAX near 36th on 6th Avenue. This is by far the superior one – even if it’s much smaller. For one, they are cheaper. I guess PAX-es are franchises and they can charge what they want because it almost costs me a buck less to get what I get here most mornings(egg whites, broccoli, cheese on an english muffin) compared to the one on 40th. They are speedy too. Sometimes the tourists at 40th street slow down the process, and sometimes the cashiers just stumble over themselves.(Though the manager on 40th always tries as much as possible to hurry things up.) Here they are brisk and no-nonsense.

Its kinda hard getting a good breakfast North of NYC’s Herald Square on a Saturday morning, but I found it. Not because of pricing, which is an issue, but there don’t seem to be that many places open. I ordered a Swiss cheese Omlette, potatoes and buttered whole wheat toast and a 20oz Cranberry juice to go. It was all done pretty well. Toast wasn’t burned, eggs done perfectly and a good piece of cheese. $ 10.25 is a bit high IMO, but they’ve got to pay rent and employee salary. Though it was 20 degrees out and I had a 2 block walk to my office, the food was NOT cold when I unpacked it. That’s a plus. Place is smallish, maybe seats…20? Very quiet and was almost fully seated when I walked in. Has some pre-made sandwiches, cake slices, yogurt, small behind the counter salad station. Simple no frills set up. Counter person was very polite and grillmen quiet and efficient. It gets a bit crowded at lunch time which is why I’ve not gone in during the week. Will I go here again? Probably. 7÷7÷15 Went back about 2 – 3 weeks ago, 2 eggs, bacon, swiss on a poppy bagel, 2 bottles cranberry juice: $ 13!!! No napkins, no condiments except S & P available. Was good, but too expensive. Done.

Breakfast 12/26/2014 Our last morning in NYC. We made a dash to Macy’s for some coming home gifts via the subway. We stopped in and had a nice, quick breakfast. She had the yogurt and I had a breakfast taco with coffee. Clean and the staff was professional.

Food is ok, nothing wonderful. I’ve been here on various occasions since they are one of the few places opens on the weekends when i work. Cons –Their coffee and hot chocolate if never good. –The turkey sausage is gross. Pros –Omelettes are good. –Salads are tasty. –Their desserts are ok. Not really much i can say…

** Review is from 1÷27÷12 Just now logging into Unilocal to post it. Just came in for bagels because it’s a must in NY. Service was horrible. They were rude and rushed. We were the only ones in there so there’s really no excuse. Was going to give this place two stars because the bagels were ok. Pretty mediocre. OJ was good too. However, it only gets one because of the customer service. Sorry but the way you treat your guests leaves an impression that sticks.

Great chain, I really wish it would go national! I can really only judge it off of the pre-made fruit, granola and yogurt parfaits, since that’s all I ordered here. However, in the short time I was in NY this week, I went twice, so at least there’s something to say about consistent quality. The vanilla, the blueberry, and even the plain yogurts are delish. I threw down $ 4 and some change for a large parfait that kept me full for hours, even beyond walking to Central Park from the location. I would go here every morning if I could. The salad bar looked absolutely amazing, full of fresh, beautiful ingredients. I’ll agree it seemed a bit pricey, but I didn’t walk out of one restaurant during my stay without $ 15 charged on my card. This food is definitely less expensive than that, and way more healthy. Not worth a trip to it, but definitely worth checking out if you’re in the immediate vicinity. Yum!
