Some of the best tacos I’ve found in a hurry in New York City. No frills for sure but reliable tacos at a good price point. I get the chicken and pork usually and eat on the shelf on the truck.

Every time I’m in NYC, I always make a trip to Patty’s. Its really easy to spot over in Union Square across from the park. I’ve had a few of their sandwiches(which are HUGE) and their tacos which are excellent. They also have a sweet rice drink too that I still haven’t found in DC to this day. Super cheap too and if you check in on Unilocal you get a free soda. DC people, Fast Gourmet on 14th street has nothing on Patty’s.

Patty’s gave away free food and drink to homeless people during the hurricane. We became patrons because of that. A charity from a poor man is actually more honorable than it from a rich man. Plus the food is pretty decent and fast.

The food at this taco truck is delicious. Its quick and cheap but they don’t lack in the quality of the food. The tacos are really delicious Their tacos with cilantro and white onion but also tomatoes and lettuce… awesome!

Two shrimp tacos with rice and beans for around 8 bucks and you are good to go! It takes a little bit to make but it is WELL worth the wait. While you’re there get some of that delicious green sauce. Definitely my go-to for mexican on the UES. Do it.

The Chicken Burrito makes me and my stomach smile. The California Native approves. Sidenote: I haven’t seen them on 86th and Lex recently… are they only at Union Square now?

Awesome! I’m not to this whole food truck thing, i like Mexican food and never found good, cheap, quick Mexican food — yet I always walked by is food truck. One day after work I had a few dollars in my pocket(truck is cash only) and ordered a chicken soft taco. WOW! Delicious, good-sized taco that didn’t break the bank and was satisfying. I went back a week later and got 2 more. I ordered and I realized I didn’t have cash, to my surprise the guy taking my order said I can still place my order and go get cash so it’ll be done when I return. This was nice of him, the two times I have went that guy was really nice and provided excellent customer service towards me. I will definitely be back, so far it beats the tacos that I’ve paid much more for from around the area at full restaurant-type locations. NOTE: Be prepared to wait a few minutes for your order, it is made to order and delicious, therefore it will take a little time. Enjoy!

Been here about a couple dozen times. Never been disappointed. Just had the burrito with half lengua and half al pastor. Simply amazing. For about $ 9(or $ 7 if you get their more«standard» meats), you get a nice perfectly proportioned burrito with great meat and ‘stuff’. Love all the little touches like their mole sauce or occasional pineapple bits in their al pastor. It’s located in Union Square for what appears to be dinner on the weekdays sometimes. And then almost always at that same University and 14th street northwest corner late at nite(and usually til 4am+) on Friday and Saturday nights. I’ve had the tacos, nachos, and burritos — none disappointed. All the meats were also excellent, except for maybe the chicken(I find these more authentic Mexican places don’t do chicken as well as Chipotle b/c they can’t spend the time to get that chargrilled flavor in/on it). Cons: It’s made to order, so sometimes the meat make take a couple to 10 minutes to cook. It’s open at odd hours, usually evening to late late nite — so you gotta time or happen across it. If I were to compare it to other benchmarks, I’d come here over dos toros if I wanted a messier nasty good burrito or a different meat like lengua, or if late late at nite.

Came upon this truck as if it were an oasis of a mirage in the middle of a desert. Well, it was parked in front of Union Square. At midnight. I got a tlacoyo. This is yet another way to package beans, meat, and cheese in a tortilla. It was awesome. I had refried beans, beef tongue, avocado, queso fresco(sort of like feta), lettuce, tomatoes, and other fixins. There was more than enough food, and nothing to complain about. And they actually honored my «no cilantro» request.

Been awhile since I have hit up this monster truck of deliciousness. Worked late last night and it was parked on Lex and 86th right outside of the subway stop. The chicken burrito was just as I had remembered it — large, moist, buttery, creamy goodness. Fresh and hot. Two sauces on the side. Crazy good for only $ 7. Plus, check in on the Unilocal ap and get a free Jarritos Mexican soda!

The absolute best tacos I’ve had in New York. While the prices are just a tiny bit steep for the size, they’re still incredibly good, fresh, made to order and, if you can catch the truck at it’s typical location at 86th& Lexington, make for a great meal on the run or take out food for movie night with you and your boo. Irish name or not, Patty’s Tacos is the best Mexican food east of the Hudson!

The best mexican food in NYC comes from a cart. I’m convinced of it; it’s a fact. I had Patty’s a little while back and it was sooo fresh and delicious. Crunchy, juicy meat, and cool, delicoius sour cream… OHMAN! I can’t wait to go back and try something else there because the chicken enchiladas with green sauce were definitely on point. Listen, Patty’s is one of the première places in NYC to grab some delicious Mexican food(on the cheap as well!) so find out where it’s parked and RUN to go get some, you’ll be so happy you did.

Maybe it’s because I’m partly vegetarian. But I’ve read the rave reviews about this taco truck and can only assume it’s because I only get the schrimp dishes… be it a burrito or a taco etc. I’ve tried this truck 3 times, hoping to get a better experience and was disappointed 3 times. Something is missing in the shrimp dishes… some kind of seasoning… garlic or cilantro or pepper that must be in the beef or chicken dishes. Or maybe they don’t know how to do shrimp. The tacos and burritos here are only okay. in my opinion. I go by this truck en route to the Petco on 86th St and it always seems tempting. A quick, cheap snack before I hit the Petco. People always seem satisfied. Alas, not me. Are there any Unilocalers out there who get the shrimp dishes who have the same experience???

FINALLY I found a great taco in NYC. After I moved from CA, I have been searching for a place that was at least decent … and this place is more than that. On my way out for the day I saw this truck outside of Barnard. I decided to at least try a taco or two. I had the carnitas taco for $ 3, and had a bite of their chicken taco which was also for $ 3. They have other selections on their menu as well — i.e. burritos or platters, but I can only speak for the tacos; and they were fantastic! Now if only they were parked there consistently, then I’d be the happiest person ever! ;D

Hey I always see this truck in passing, so decided to give it a go. Tried the taco de lengua, $ 3.50; it seems their menu prices have jumped a bit, based on other reviews(regular tacos are now $ 3). ‘Twas my first time with beef tongue, and… I’m a fan! Surprised at how tender and not chewy/muscley tongue is(it has the texture of stewed beef). The salsa on the side finished it off nicely, but if there were a choice of added guac, I’d take. Turnaround is fast, 3 – 4 minutes. You can see whole families chowing down by the truck’s table/shelf, literally for a grab/go bite. I see a majority of Hispanic/Mexican customers, so maybe they know what’s good! Taste, 1. Intestinal mishaps, 0.

every day i get off at 86th and lex and wonder why all these people are lined up around this truck. surely, it was overhype, no? no. its not. one day, after a particularly unsatisfying lunch, i found myself ready to eat my left arm so i decided to stop and get one beef taco before dinner in order too save my appetite. patty’s, you had me at hello. i dragged my husband back that very same night and he had the patty’s specialty burrito and i had a chicken burrito. both were dlicious. omg. this will certainly become a staple in our household.
