My wife and I came in for dinner the other night. We ordered the fried Calamari to start. It was well prepared and tasty. I asked the server if the 16oz NY strip on the menu was really 16oz. He said it was. When the meal was delivered it was no where close to as listed. I would put I more around a 9oz cut. When I asked about it I was told that it might be a little small. I did ask to see a manager but was told that person had already left for the day and there was nothing that could be done. We finished our meal, paid the check and stopped by a deli so I could get a sandwich on the way back to the hotel as I was still hungry.

Took a chance on this place that was not far from our hotel. Ordered eggs and bacon and it was great. I would have given them another star if they hadn’t served me burnt toast! We sat upstairs with a nice view out the front window. I would go back.

I’m back to five stars because today’s dinner experience was terrific. We couldn’t resist eating(an early) dinner there after seeing a play at the 59E59 Theater and the meal was *delicious*. We each got the grilled seafood combo($ 24.95). It included a cup of soup(we ordered the ginger butternut squash, which was *really* good) and it included five rolls for the two of us(all were different types and we shared them; they were very good and fresh-tasting). Our entrées included *five* types of seafood and everything was great. Our server was very pleasant and the cashier was a very friendly young guy. (Update on 2÷13÷16): Another dinner in-between seeing two plays at the 59E59 Theater and it was another great experience; the food was delicious(I ordered the vegetarian lasagna, which has only increased by $ 1.00 in 2 ½ years [it’s now $ 17.95] and I again had a cup of the delicious ginger butternut squash soup). Also again, the rolls were really good. And, our server(plus another server) was *very* friendly and the cashier was a very friendly young woman.

(Search term: «Eggs Benedict») I think we’re all alike… I am motivated to leave a review when I’m either super impressed, or really disappointed. Hence, most of my reviews are either 1 or 5 stars. But who cares about the 3 stars anyway. So listen up, I have GOT to tell you that this is 5 Stars and wish it could be more. I have been ordering Eggs Benedict as one of my favorite dishes in the world, on ever coast, diners to Michelin Stars, in other countries and in trailer parks. Sometimes they try to impress and ruin it by replacing the Canadian bacon with lox and throw a tomato on there(which is fine) but what I really want is: A soft, lightly toasted, WHITE bread english muffin A healthy piece of Canadian bacon(the more expensive restaurants like to shave you a sliver) Egg whites only(not a health choice, I’m allergic to yokes) And enough hollandaise sauce to choke a horse. If it comes with potatoes, too, then they are going in my will. The Palace Restaurant(4:00PM on Saturday, at 122 E 57th St.) has the best… THEBEST… EB I’ve ever had in my life. Shut up!!! They actually put two… TWO…pieces of Canadian bacon on each muffin… FOURINTOTAL. They kind of make the hollandaise sauce a decodent mix of HS and maybe a little cheese sauce. Never a problem with me;) Tons of eggs and those lovely, shredded potatoes that actually have a hint of green pepper mixed in. As always, in life, if one is good, MORE is better so I asked for extra sauce on the side and they didn’t even charge me. I cannot tell you, as a complete, self-ordanded EB aficionado… this place is Nirvana. Oh and do I dare… it was only $ 11.00 and delivered fast and friendly! I wish I would have taken a picture but I was in such a food, delight frenzy I couldn’t spare the time. I loved it so much I’m now ordering one to be delivered to my doorman during his dinner break. Share the wealth when you find perfection!!! A++++++++++

Gluten free breakfast so good that I ate it twice in one day! I love breakfast food /pancakes, waffles, the whole bit — so the hardest part of 10+ years of gluten free eating is no good breakfast carbs! That is where the Palace Restaurant came in. You see, I was causally lounging in my hotel room next door scanning the surrounding neighborhood for gluten free eateries(those who travel gluten free will not doubt identify with me). What did I find but a restaurant next door with all my favorite comfort food gluten free. I couldn’t believe it! The next morning I made a beeline for the joint and had a most marvelous breakfast! When I entered, I was greeted by a courteous team of waitstaff who promptly showed me to a table. Upon inquiring for a gluten free menu, I ordered a cup of breakfast tea, a gluten free waffle with strawberries and whipped cream and a side of bacon. I was in for a treat! I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly my food arrived and was delighted that the whipped cream and strawberries on my waffle made a smiley face, complete with blueberry eyes! The waffle was fluffy and delicious! And so much food! It was so good — I was in heaven. Now, gluten free breakfast is not super great around some of the restaurants back home and I knew a good meal when I saw it. Later that day — I was rushing back trying to sneak on before they closed for the night. I was a bit tardy, but I was given a warm welcome and was assured that I could order and sit down and have a wonderful meal. The staff made sure that I was well taken care of and I had a delicious dinner. At dinner I had a gluten free pancake stack with strawberries and was equally delighted with my choice. The pancakes were fluffy and tasty and delicious! Everything was so great — the waitstaff, the food, the atmosphere. I will certainly be back the next time I am in town. Thanks for some great meals!

Had brunch here after a run back in January. Not at all a bad place to get a simple meal, but classic brunch might be a stretch. The bloody mary was just OK, and the food, I thought, was ~$ 5 more than it should be for most dishes. That being said, I have been to worse diners in New York.

For the past two weeks, I’ve had to endure the insanity and indoctrination of compliance training. The Palace was home away from home(Brooklyn). Manhattan is full of restaurants with odd shortened names where hundreds of people stand in line to eat a pulverized salad, Chopt, Rostd, etc… I’m not sure why you can’t just call it Chopped or Roasted. Anyway I clearly realized these places were for nutty grazers and found this old time diner. Less expensive, spotless with full service and delicious and fast food. Each day I sat on the counter, I was surrounded by the people that lived in the neighborhood(mature billionaires) and had a full view of their delightful eating habits and clothing styles. One day, the patron next to me only ordered a side of Ruffles potato chips while wearing a Hermes scarf. On the other side, it was the top half of a bagel, lightly toasted with no sides eaten by someone wearing a Audemars Piguet. You get the picture. I highly recommend it! The special tuna wrap with cranberry and apple is delicious!

AWEFUL!!! I got pretty bad food poisoning from that place!!! Whole day and evening I’m hugging my toilet. That was the only food I had for today. Immediately in about an hour I started feeling worse and worse!!! And then I started throwing up. My stomach is about to explode from pain!!! And delivery guy didn’t have a change from $ 20! First time I’m experiencing this!!! And I hope the last!!! Never go there again and tell all my friends about it!!! Unbelievable!!!

Classic diner in Manhattan! Everything was exactly as good as it sounded, like I said, classic diner food. Nothing«fancy» but that’s not what I came for! I was satisfied and would return.

I’m a huge fan of the traditional NYC diner run buy a couple old guys with an accent. These places are neighborhood institutions and the Palace is certainly a gem. Don’t expect fancy but do expect good service, fair prices, and good quality for solid non gourmet comfort food. I thought the breakfast sausage links were amazing. High quality without a fatty taste. The upstairs is quite big and you can take in the street scene from the large picture windows. The bar is great for single and double diners as the employees are fun with banter, regulars, and are just nice enough. Neighborhood institutions are something I love to see.

Great food, service, and people here! This is now our favorite in New York. Billy is the BEST waiter EVER ask for him at the counter. I can’t say enough about this place.

This place reminds me a lot of Neil’s Coffee Shop, and, as such, I will write a similar review: I like The Palace Restaurant for breakfast; however, I can’t say I love it. They give you a decent amount of food; however, the quality /taste is somewhat lacking. The food is a bit on the bland side. They do not have Tobasco sauce; however, they do have Texas Pete hot sauce(Booo!!). The prices aren’t cheap but then again not a lot of places are on in this particular neighborhood in NYC. The kitchen seems to be haphazard with the food presentation /plating. Some orders turn out looking great while others not so much. Like many places in NYC service can be slow and you may get some attitude from your server. Not a great place but not a bad choice either.

I’ve always known this place as 57th Street Pancake House… because that’s how they’re listed on Grubhub. I can’t give 5-stars for charging that dagnab much for an omelette. But I have ordered multiple omelettes because they are HUGE, flavorful, cooked perfectly, still hot when delivered, delivered quickly, and you can easily make two meals out of it when combined with the MASSIVE pile of hash browns they give you. The bag is full of salt, pepper, jelly, butter, ketchup, AND hot sauce! So you’re either looking at a quality splurge, or two normally priced and awesome breakfasts. Win win for this guy!

GLUTENFREEALERT! This is your generic diner spot that has all the normal stuff, eggs, toast, burgers, diner coffee & all at cheap prices. What sets this place apart? They also have an entire gluten free menu too! I was so stoked I started clapping when I first walked in.

The food was brought out fast and they have an awesome selection, but it was lacking quality and taste. We bought a lot of food, but nothing stood out. The New York steak sucked, which really disappointed me as it was a little expensive. Can’t give them anything lower than 3 stars because it wasn’t BAD. But when you visit Manhattan you expect AMAZING, mediocre doesn’t cut it. The waiters seemed lost and forceful.
