Took the D express &15 minutes later, from 59th Street, I was in Harlem searching for African Black Soap that will hopefully cure my skin woes. After looking at goods from a street vendor, I wandered in here. It’s a little overwhelming, stocked to the ceiling store. But seems to get a steady flow of customers(being so close to the train) & on «Harlem’s Outdoor Mall Street.» They have probably every product & more for African-American hair care.(& extensions, beads, etc.) And I was super glad– Many brands of the soap that I was looking for.(ie. Nubian bars for $ 3) Florida Water, Rose witch Hazel, Latin body care products, and mainstream American stuff. I’m not familiar with the make-up brands they sell(a few display cases). The store seems to be Korean-owned, also with Dominican & African workers. There was a worker spreading on customers’ hands little samples of coconut oil from a tub. Service was extremely nice & one worker convinced me to buy the little awkward homemade– looking soap instead of the Nubian one(examining the fragrance list on the box, etc.) I like the small size of the $ 1.50 bar, the other one was GIANT, but only $ 3. There were tubs of raw shea butter(I’ve bought them from street vendors before & it’s the real deal.) Good luck to them. Only wish there weren’t so many kids that came with their moms in the store & that the aisles weren’t so narrow.
