Met some people for drinks here since it was conveniently located near the convention I was attending. I liked the venue and it is a good place for small to medium sized groups.

Place was a Nice. Had a quick drink and was surprised to snack on the best potato skins I have ever had. Absolutely great!

I had Shepard pie waitress said it was very good and filling. It tasted good but was mostly mashed potatoes and gravy. Not filling for $ 20 meal. Also took forever to get the bill and no refills on ice tea.

Came here because after spending the day in NYC, we decided to grab dinner. We were parked in their across the street. Great choice!!! Food is great, service is great! And I got a free shot for chocking in in on Unilocal

Food was good but service was not. This Poor waitress was overworked and the restaurant staff was not able to keep up with the amount of people coming in for dinner. We received our appetizer after we got our main order and that took over 40 minutes. Then to get the bill took another 25 minutes. Not happy. The food was ok, but there are way better places to go before you have to accept this measure of neglect and contempt for a night out.

Found this place when I was staying at the nearby Warwick Hotel. The prices here for breakfast — while ridiculous in most of the world — were about half what the Warwick was offering. The waitress didn’t seem terribly interested in being a waitress. Service was horribly slow, and we were one of two tables in the place. I’ve had better servers at just about any restaurant I can remember. My over-medium eggs arrived scrambled. Didn’t even have time to tell her because we were in a rush. Oh well. It’s not one-star because the food is edible and the price was better than stuff nearby. But a wrong order is a problem. The lack of enthusiasm with which the waitress approached her job does not make me want to return here.

Ducked into this pub with friends yesterday afternoon shortly after my husband and I completed Avon’s 39.3 mile Walk To End Breast Cancer. Since we were staying at the Hilton on 53rd, I mainly chose this place for lunch because my feet were very sore and we wanted to go someplace nearby. Even though we chose this bar mainly for its proximity, we ended up having a wonderful celebratory lunch! They sat us right away, even though we were a group of seven. Two of our friends are vegetarian and enjoyed their pizza and flatbread. We all shared a plate of delicious nachos. I was starving and wolfed down yummy fettuccine Alfredo, and my husband ate every bit of his chicken pot pie. Servings were enormous and the service was great. I’m not a big drinker(I just had tea), but my husband and friends were impressed with the beer list. They also have wine and specialty drinks like pumpkin margaritas. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and meals, and we were not rushed at all. Old Castle isn’t fancy or upscale, or even modern: it’s old-school and cozy. However, it was exactly what I needed after enduring a weekend of walking.

Their idea of a Sangria was ice over white wine and three minuscule pieces of fruit put in their. No taste. They advertised it as having lots more in, including cucumber(where?how?).

Food was great but the service was horrible. Took forever to get our check and then when we asked her to split it she acted like we asked her to move a mountain. It was ok but we don’t plan on ever going back.

Had a quick dinner here last week before seeing«An American in Paris» on Broadway(great show, btw). My sister and I arrived around 6PM and were promptly seated in the back section where the booths are located. You also have the choice to sit up front near the bar where they have several high top tables. I ordered a house salad and my sister and I shared the flat bread Margarita pizza(9″ pie). Our meals came out very quickly and although the pizza wasn’t that hot the food was good. While I wouldn’t hurry back to this place for a regular lunch or dinner I definitely recommend this spot if you don’t want to get caught in the tourist trap restaurants near Broadway shows. We were finished with our food and paid the bill before 6:40, right on time for our 7PM show.

This is a decently sized pub for the location. It was pretty chill late on a weeknight but still had a good number of patrons. They have your typical pub beer selections on tap: Guinness, Smithwick’s, etc and have some happy hour specials Mon-Fri from 5 — 7 pm. Everyone from the servers to the bartender were attentive. Popped into the women’s bathroom and am happy to report that it was nice and clean(you never know in that area!). This was a great spot to wind down the night.

We got here about 1:30pm on a Saturday. We were happy it wasn’t packed and we got seated quickly. However, we had to ask for our server every time we needed any service, including ordering our food! It got pretty annoying that after our food came out, we waited long enough for any server to pass by. When we called one that walked passed our table, she said«hold on!» in such an unpleasant tone. After this, it still took so long for our server to get to us. Our fries were cold at that point. I guess who needed ketchup with it, right?! Food was ok, but service was a struggle!

Loved this dive bar! I usually do sway towards hole in the wall bars lol they have character ! Trust me I’m still«booshie» hahaha. Thankfully this place was located right across from the London hotel which was perfect bc if you drink in the hotel bar all night you can spend a pretty penny in there… Sat at tha bar and had a few brews. Staff were cool peeps they even accommodated my request of putting on the news so I could see something quick. I thought that was nice. When I’m in the area I would def come back for a Stella :)

Arriving at 11 a.m. on New Years Eve, we were seated for lunch far too close to the waitstaff«standing area.» With very few other customers, this shouldn’t have been our table. Apparently some inspection was going on below in the kitchen. And while our food order was taken fairly quickly, we waited for 30 minutes with for food while the waitstaff milled around in their little area and apparently couldn’t be bothered to explain the delay. I left $ 5 for our tea and coffee and walked out. Upon explaining this to one of the staff, her reply was: «Sorry about that.» This situation could have been easily remedied by anyone having more than 30 minutes of customer service training. It’s sad to see a business put their employees in such a demanding situation with little or no preparation.

Don’t come here for the food. The bar is nice though. There are so many other good places to go in the city. This place is not cheap either.

The food was just ok and the service was awful. Not only did I not get the water I ordered at all, but the girl never once came back to ask how anything was so I couldn’t remind her that she forgot. She did come by when I was in the restroom and my husband was finishing his meal, but 20 minutes later we were both done and just sitting there waiting for her to even glance in our direction so we could signal that we wanted our check. There are too many other cool places to pop into for a meal to waste your time here.

Yes, I’m writing another five star review. I know, I know, the majority of my reviews are as such, but I can’t help it, I love writing about my favorite places! Deal with it. Old Castle has always been my go to Irish pub and where my love affair with Guinness began. I used to work in NYC’s theatre district, and it was usually where we would end up stopping by for a drink or two, or three, after work. It’s cozy, but not a cramped cozy, more of a comfortable, homey kind of cozy. It’s plenty spacious on the first and second floor. The booths are awesome, but of course we always chose to sit at the bar, because the bartenders are top notch. Even before they put in the booths, tvs, and other upgrades, they were the best neighborhood spot, and better still, they were just out of the way enough to not be discovered by the majority of tourists. Maybe a few savvy Irish ones, but THEY were always a blast to hang out around;)

During my recent visit to New York, I had some time to kill the morning of my departure so I decided to venture out of my hotel for a local breakfast. My Unilocal app found what appeared to be a great spot about 6 blocks away so off I went. Unfortunately, it was about 200 degrees outside. As I traversed the second block of my journey I came across Oldcastle; breakfast menu looked good so I wandered in. The pub was almost half full, which was encouraging. The coffee hit the spot and I savored it as I watched ESPN as I waited for my food. I’m normally a savory person, but my sweet tooth was itching this morning so I opted for the French Toast. It really hit the spot, and the large OJ was the final touch to a delicious breakfast. The menu has something for everyone, and I appreciated that the service was quick but I never felt rushed. Perhaps I’ll stop in for a black & tan next visit!
