I love NYCLAN. Really great set up with two super comfy chairs per flat screen and console. Really friendly and laid back owners add to the feeling that it’s a place made by gamers, for the gamers. Not only do they have the newest consoles out to play on (XBOX 360 & Wii), they also carry old consoles from the past (Sega Genesis, etc). they also have special events like Halo tournaments and fighting game tournaments.
My only complaint is the lack of alcohol, which given the amount of electronic devices about you, I can understand. But since it’s in the heart of the West Village, you are surrounded by bars anyway.
Also if you are a girl, be a little wary. It’s mostly boys in this joint, and some of them dont’ seem like they interact much with the female sex. But overall a good crowd! Really friendly peeps, easy to pick up a game with!

Gamers in the New York City area still mourning the fatal blow struck to arcades from the bloody sword that is home consoles, read intently, as there is a place for you devotees to seek challenges outside of the rather remotely located Chinatown Fair. Located in the heart of the West Village, NYCLAN — pronounced Ni-​LAN — is bringing hardcore back in what is, essentially, a videogame lounge. Although «lounge» and «hardcore» rarely reside in the same arena, NYCLAN pulls it off by catering to gamers of all types. It may not have the grimy floors, shifty-​looking owner, or quarters aligning the monitor’s edge, but in terms of pure gameplay, competition, and socialization, NYCLAN is the spiritual rebirth of the now defunct arcade scene. Knowledgeable and friendly attendants cater to your gaming needs by plugging in a modern system and game of your choice. My first night there, I wasted away 6-​hours laughing it up with others gamers as we plowed through Metal Slug 4 (Xbox), Super Moneyball (Wii), and King of the Fighters 2003 (Xbox). And the price is right: $ 12 to play in 1.5-hour themed blocks (ie, all Nintendo games, all racing, Gears of War tournament) or $ 20 for all day access. Comfortable seating, large screen televisions, and all around good vibes makes this a place for any true gamer.
