The highlight of this was watching my MANAGER run out of the job screaming OMG I got to get out of here! Lmfaooooooooooooo I literally just stood there wondering what everyone was bugging out about. I thought it was the vibrations from the train, since the train station is literally underneath my job. My only request, the next time mother nature wants to send random vibrations, at least give me a happy ending ;)

Heck… I thought my body was shaking from hunger!!! hehehhe. I cracked up when I figured out it was an earthquake… oh…it wasn’t me! HA! Actually I was freaked out, like Monique… I heard the wall knocking, doors shaking, the glass doors rattling. and I felt the building swaying. I was 13 flights up. But my freaking out came after having lunch with Rich… I realized I was alone and afraid! Totally delayed reaction! I was slowly bubbling with fear. ehhee. It surfaced later. My fear came after… fear aftershock.

I was eating a HAM sandwich when this bad boy hit. At the time I was speaking on the telephone to an individual that was across town from me. The person on the other end of the line told me their chair felt like it was moving. At that point my chair started bouncing up and down. IMMEDIATELY I ran across the office to a colleague of mine and shouted, «Do you like Fleetwood Mac!!!» Remembering we were having an earthquake, I then asked her if she felt it. She said no. It was by far the bounciest part of my day.

Epicenter Where did your quake start? The center of major shake-ups Measures a 5.9 on the Richter scale On Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 1:51 pm EDT(17:51UTC) The ground may move only gradually at first It soon buckles at the fault lines … Epicenter Like a domino effect, it rippled my whole body With major Virginia Seismic Zone fault lines What was an eternal everlasting eruption With rage and wrath And felt your touch close to my skin Epicenter When the ground became calm and quiet There are no after-shocks in New York The emotional distress damage inflicted is tremendous Leaving a gargantuan hole I picked up the shards with immense inner strength to re-build Shake it to the core, while enduring a shower in the comfort of my own home at approximately 1:51 pm EDT(17:51UTC) I felt very dizzy! The whole of Queens Borough was shaken and felt the wrath ignited by the jolt of Piedmont, Virginia’s origin!

I was standing in the kitchen near the sink, and I felt the floor move; then the coffee cups hanging in the window started to swing. «Richard, look!» I said to my roommate. He pointed out that the cups on the other side of the room were swinging too. He said it must be the construction across the street where they’re rebuilding an old church, but then he head on the news that it really was an earthquake. Toldja so!

Earthquake? Really… I’ve been in earthquakes. Best Earthquake Ever: This didn’t even compare to anything like that. I was in the elevator going to lunch when it happened. I just stepped out and was walking around. Didn’t really notice anything… I was thinking that if I decided to go 5 minutes later I would be living the earthquake episode of «Saved By the Bell». This is where Zack and Tori are trapped in the elevator with a pregnant Mrs. Belding. Tori freaks out and delivers the baby. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Aside from being a little freaked out(okay, a lot freaked out…) The earthquake had some major bonuses: — i didnt feel anything — Bldg evacuation= extended lunch hour in the park — 3pm dismissal — Shaken not Stirred drink specials at my local bar — free shots of patron for surviving the earthquake at my local bar Im ready for another rumble… lets go!

Wow, this quake is getting a lot of hate. Hey, it wasn’t THAT poor a showing guys. 5.8! Anything that makes me run down 4 flights of stairs and stand around outside like an idiot in my pajamas and bare feet is worth a few stars, in’t it? I mean the earth moved, people. Once I realized that yes, my building was actually *swaying*, the stance I found myself in could almost be considered comical. Sort of a Kung Fu Jackie Chan pose mixed with riding a surf board. What my body thought it was accomplishing at that point, four flights up, I’ll never know. A candlestick fell over in it’s holder… Cut to me in the street with bed head and no shoes. I felt weirdly sick and dizzy for about an hour afterward, and my equilibrium was all messed up. I thought I kept feeling movement when it was just the air conditioner turning on. Weird. We just don’t get this kind of thing here in NYC. Oh and BTW, MY earthquake took place in 11211. Manhattan isn’t the center of the earth, people!

Though the two stars says — meh, I’ve experienced better — the truth is that I’ve never experienced an earthquake before. But that says a lot of this measly quake… some say the earth will end not with a bang, but with a whimper, and I imagine this is the type of anticlimactic whimper one can expect. This hiccup of an earthquake managed to knock over some cups and books and even some lawn chairs, but its biggest damage was financial — The one minute quake managed to stop productivity in our office for almost an hour. For me, it merely jiggled my stomach, reminding me of that pesky fat that seems impossible to get rid of. It relieved a coworker’s constipation. And it made for terrible survival stories, but I survived, and I want a t-shirt that proclaims it, dammit! But considering that a subway train or even a big truck can rattle the bones harder than this wimpy quake, I can honestly say, I have experienced better.

I can’t believe I missed the whole thing. :-(I thought Earthquakes were supposed to shake and rattle you. And create chaos and confusion. Nope that didn’t happen. In the East Coast, especially NY, you have to COMEHARDORGOHOME!!! With that being said, get the F$#% OUTOFHEREEARTHQUAKEANDDON’T EVERCOMEBACK!!! And don’t bother hitting up any other countries either. You SUCK!!!

The funny thing is that the epicenter actually took place in a little town called Mineral, Virginia, but that fact sure as hell didn’t stop New York from laying claim to the earthquake. Even an earthquake can’t shake New York’s delusion that they are the center of the universe. cue — Tsunami.

Ummm, my building just shook for a couple seconds. Okay, I did feel a bit nauseous and tipsy, as if I couldn’t hold my balance, but what’s all the fuss about? First, a golf-ball sized hail storm, now an earthquake, and soon Hurricane Irene. So what if our world is about to end? We’re all gonna die some day.

SO I was getting ready to go to the gym and I was standing still in my room trying to fix my hair and put my cap on(to block the sun from my eyes) Then I felt my room swaying, ever so lightly but this was weird because my house never shakes. I lived in an apt before where it was right above the train station route so we would normally feel some rumbling… but this was different. I go out to the living room and asked my brother if he felt that… he said it was because of a truck… uh, no buddy, trucks do usually do that to this building and as I was saying that to him the freaking building was still rocking… Finally it stopped and we’re like… wtf was that. My bro goes upstairs to check up on his gf’s sister and I go outside and the neighbors screamed out if anyone else felt that… I said I felt that too. So my bro and I are checking the internet… nothing.(well he was checking the financial newspapers like NYT and WSJ) I told him to go on Yahoo! and sure enough they had breaking news that an earthquake hit VA and was felt through DC and NYC…7online.com also said the same thing… It spooked me out because anything can happen in nyc and I just hope my building is sturdy enough. I was too spooked to go to the gym… hey my gym is on the 4th fl… and do you know how heavy all that equipment combined is!!! LOL SO yea, eeeks, me thinks not… never again man…

I found this earthquake to be boring and unexciting. I’ve heard so much about earthquakes and this was a TOTAL let down. My dog didn’t even move or lift her head. Would not go back.

It was cute. Like a stampeding horde of fat people racing towards a Krispy Kreme giving out free glazed doughnuts. OK, not that cute. I was sitting by the computer desk in my bf’s house vigorously writing a few lines of notes before leaving to get some supplies from my house. I thought«Gee, I’m a beast. I’m making the desk, chair, and the computer shake.» Then I saw a lamp on the other side of the room quake. I then thought the shakes came from trucks passing by the house. Whenever big ass trucks drive by, the attic(my bf’s room) would rattle. I only realized it was an earthquake when my mom called me to see if I was alive. I give it 1 star, for making people think that my body was buried under the devastating wreckage that was formerly my bf’s house.

I was on the upper east side of Manhattan when the earth quake hit. NYC does not get earth quakes so there was panic in the streets. I was near Lenox Hill hospital and they were taking patients out on Gurney’s. City Hall was shut down and everyone in the streets was saying NY and DC were hit by a bomb. 911 really still lives in the hearts of New Yorkers. It was just an earth quake. It is over now. I think I will get some tacos!!!

— 5 Stars for being my 1st… that’s Earthquake(get your mind out of the gutter). — 5 Stars for scaring me shit crazy, even if you did last only for about a minute… now where have I heard that before(get your mind out of the gutter). — 1 Star for making us look like chumps to our Cali counterparts and transplants.* *If you’ve figured it out by now, then yeah us NY’ers don’t like looking like chumps

Huh? That was it? I fart harder then that. I ate a burrito last night that shook my building to the rafters when I cut loose. This can’t even compare. Lame.
