NY Pizza Suprema could easily get away with being a tourist trap, across the street from MSG; instead, they are one of the consistent greats. Just about any time you come in here there is a line out the door but the counter is properly staffed and the line moves FAST. This is the perfect place for a quick affordable meal before a game or event at MSG. The pizza itself is in my top few slices in the city. The sauce is amazing, the mozzarella is quality, and the crust is perfection. Their speciality slices are never skimpy. I suggest the margherita and tomato Sicilian aka upside down slice.

This place is awesome! Highly recommend. I went here a couple times. The first time during a dinner rush and the second time just around closing time. Both times, the food quality was great. Even around closing time, they had a couple pizzas in the oven and they could have taken them out before they were properly cooked to keep the line moving, but I saw they were constantly checking the pizza to make sure it was fully done. Even when they took the pizza out, the manager would come over and inspect it to make sure it was cooked right. I was pretty amazing, considering they hold their pizza to that quality even when it was 5 minutes before closing!

Pizza is crispy and never disappoints. Though I love dollar slices, this is a step up if you’re looking for a basic pizza.

Pizza ehhh i had better. My pizza was soggy until the crust. The service was great though. Really quick and on their game. It was pretty busy in there so maybe it was just pizza today that wasn’t up to par. Better luck next time.

I love pizza and I’m from Chicago so I love deep dish, stuffed, but I don’t discriminate against thin crust. I have to say of all the places I’ve ate pizza(too many to count) this has to be my favorite. If I ever move to New York or visit again I’ll make sure I live or get a hotel near this spot. That’s how good it was to me lol! I had the thin crust cheese, margarita, and veggie pizza FYI.

Yum, now that’s some great pizza. At around 4 dollars a slice the Upside Down pizza is yumtastic. The line moves pretty quickly. Additionally, me and my love dove were able to snag a seat no problem. Bonuses Bathroom for paying customers. Friendly Service. Extremely Close to Penn Station.

Marinara sauce is slightly sweet! Typical New York pizza, large and flat, but most importantly affordable! They have tons of flavors, I tried their mushroom and their combo. I want to go back and grab more! You must have ask for ranch separately and there is no garlic powder available, only oregano and chili powder.

Got a slice of the margherita and it was OK. It was a little overly salty for my taste as it has globs of garlic salt I believe? $ 4/slice right by Penn Station.

I could try a couple slices at an event nearby, and they were better than the pizza I tasted before in Manhattan. The crust is not too hard, the dough is thin enough, maybe there is a bit too much sauce which may cause some collateral damage, but that’s pizza. Liked it, but I don’t think it’s unforgettable.

I won’t write a thousand word review because A) You don’t need a thousand words to describe how a slice tastes and B) Who the heck has time to read all that? Do people have jobs or what? haha! Anyway, to keep it short and simple, I love their plain slice and Grandma slice. Great sauce, great cheese, and great crust. Not much more to say. If you are in the Chelsea area, I would suggest to stop in for a bite

I ordered two cheese slices for lunch takeout here on Friday, 5/20.The line was a little out the door but it moved quickly, perhaps too quickly. When I sat down in Penn Station to eat my slices, they were tepid… so the lack of re-heating problem mentioned by others appears to be more a characteristic of this place than an occasional failing. The cheese on the slice was skimpy, though I liked the slightly sweet sauce. The pizza was bland, with no oregano or Italian seasonings atop the slice. At 3 bucks a slice, I expected more. So… stop the hype… you can get the same type of cheese slice at a thousand other places in lower New York. In fairness, I ate the Sicilian Slice and Upside Down slice regularly many years ago and recall that both were very good so both would probably be a better option than the cheese slice.

This is one of my good friend’s favorite spots for pizza in Manhattan. As a native New Yorker, and also a dear friend who has similar tastes as me, I figured I had to try it. At first you may wonder how could there be great pizza so close to Penn and Madison Square Garden. I had that mind set too prior to coming across Previti’s a few years ago which is right next to Grand Central which is awesome so I thought I was in store for some great pizza. I went with their grandma slice after having an amazing one earlier in the day at Previti’s. Maybe by itself it’s a good slice when not compared with one as great as the one I had earlier. Maybe it was an off day which happens to the best of us. Either way, I thought it was just ok. Service wasn’t the best either. The slice seemed uninspired to me. Two sliced tomatoes were just piled on top of each other in the center rather than being spread out across the slice and there was no oomph to the flavor. It was standard pizza, nothing miraculous. Because of my friend, I would go back. If it weren’t for him, based on this one experience, I would not.

Took a fat L on this one coming out of penn station, wanted to grab a couple slices of bomb pizza when i linked up with my homie who was visiting for the first time from LA. You gotta wait in line, so i was like ok ok hold up this gonna be some lit pizza, because every slice i’ve had in NYC is above average compared to california and I usually never wait at any other pizza stands around nyc. Pizza was a complete flop, crust was soggy, and pizza had just all around no flavor. Iono wth people were waiting in line for but I could have had a better slice at any of the 800 other random pizza stands around the block.

My favorite pizzeria in Manhattan. Tons of options to choose from. But we all know pizzerias are judged on their plain slice. Suprema has one of the best. The sauce is slightly on the sweet side so you’ll definitely get some ardent haters. Aside from the sauce, purely a personal preference, there shouldn’t be any complaints regarding the cheese, crust and construction of the pie in general. Perfect fold, few proper drips of oil onto the paper plate, it’s a very comforting sight. The other pizza options on offer is equally as good. Why wouldn’t it be? All built on the solid foundation that is the plain pie. Only thing to add is even if you go with an exorbitant amount of toppings, for example the suprema, it isn’t super salty, so you’re not dying of thirst afterwards. I would assume the main culprits to be pepperoni, sausages, meats, etc. Either they chill with overloading the meats or they got lower sodium variety. Don’t know, but do like to eat. They take credit cards so really convenient for cashless folks like me.

I love NY style slices and I’m glad I went to NY Pizza Suprema while I was visiting NYC. According to many sources, Pizza Suprema makes the definitive NYC cheese slice, and I agree after sampling 2 of their slices. I am from California, and I must humbly concede that I am unqualified to NYC style slices, but Suprema’s slices were truly outstanding — perfect thin crispy crust, with deliciously gooey(but not too much) cheese, and very flavorful sauce. Perhaps the most remarkable quality of the pizza was its crisp crust, I have never experienced a crust like Suprema’s. One thing that I thought was a bit surprising was that the sauce, while delicious and flavorful, was very sweet — this was perhaps the sweetest pizza I’ve ever had. I would not hesitate to go back to Pizza Suprema next time I’m visiting NYC. This was a very memorable and delectable pizza.

Dang! $ 4 for a slice of pepperoni? And if it were really good pizza…, maybe… maybe justifiable but it honestly just wasn’t that good. So two slices of pepperoni and a drink came out to $ 10, do yourself a favor and skip this. The only plus is that they have a restroom(hard to come by in Manhattan) and a place to sit and eat.

NY Pizza Suprema still stands supreme in the tourist-gentrified part Midtown New York City. This OG parlor is my stop for a thin slice of pie around Penn Station. The crust is soft enough to bend but retains a necessary New York style crunchiness. The sauce is not overwhelming, the cheese is piping hot, and the toppings are plenty. There are enough tavern style benches to rest after stomping your weary feet because of another Knicks’ loss at MSG.

It MUST be really good as there was a line out of the door when I arrived. I heard people shouting ahead of me about the Upside Down Sicilian so I ordered a corner because I love crusts. I have it to go since all the seats are taken. Its a messy pizza and most of my toppings were scraped off the paper bag. Mmmm their pizza has a crunchy factor. Mmmm yummy need to try their plain cheese slice next time.

I was surprised that a highly rated pizza place existed near Madison Square; I figured they’d all be tourist traps. This place does the job for being nearby the bus stations and Penn Station I think, but still isn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had. We ordered margherita, chicken, and sicilian sausage. The margherita was nice and crispy like a proper slice of pizza. The sicilian was a pleasantly surprising light slice. The chicken was too greasy and heavy however; the chicken was breaded and fried which instead of adding to the slice, made it very heavy and difficult to eat. By the way, $ 10 minimum for credit card

Not really sure what all the hype is about this place. It got on a top five pizza list probably for the upside down cheese slice which I forgot to order. I go with an original and also had a pepperoni slice. Can you say greasy? Dripping and the flavor is fatty not cheesy or tomato but like something I feel guilty about eating. Also I’m pretty sure the guy put eight pieces of cold pepperoni, barely warmed in the oven and tah-dah! FAIL! Although the pepperoni was spicy it was cold on a luke-warm slice. Service was pretty crap too, most of the guys looked tried, confused and frustrated which considering the number of tourists they deal with on a daily basis, I don’t blame them but then again I do. Price for the two slices was $ 7. They accept debit cards but a minimum of $ 10. Might come back if in the neighborhood to try the upside down cheese but unlikely my experience will be all together better.

Honestly, this would be a solid 5-star review had it not been for the absolute garbage customer service & treatment of guests. Let me explain: Came in today, Friday afternoon after getting in from Los Angeles with my little brother & sister. I was inordinately excited to go have some«authentic» NY-style pizza at this busy and popular pizzeria. We came in and none of the boys at the counter welcomed, or asked us what we would like. We sort of wandered down the line up to the register and the cashier asked us to go back and order our slices. We did so, happily. We paid & headed to grab a table and waited a couple minutes before walking back up to grab our slices. Now, I perfectly understand it’s a busy day, however the 5+ guys at the front including the cashier were so unorganized when it came to getting us the slices that we had ordered(total six). I didn’t exactly know which ones my lil bro & sis ordered so I guessed the ones and took them back to the table, total five. I went back up and asked for the sixth one and the dude at the front handling the slices smirked and said«you already have six.» I legitimately thought hmmm perhaps he’s correct and I’m simply confused, I told him I could go back and check. He looked at me in the eye and deadpanned: «Yea, go check». The tone implication was that I was trying to scam them a $ 3 slice of pizza. Seriously. I told him I had five and asked for the sixth slice. He handed it to me not before scoffing loudly, in front of other customers and rolling his eyes. Nice. This treatment was so unnecessary and disappointing. We’re visiting from out of state and are hardly looking to scam a local business out of a piece of baked bread and cheese. That assumption is also offensive as a hardcore supporter or small & family owned businesses. The cashier who seemed somewhat to be in charge also seemed to be complacent into the food runner’s attitude. Unfortunately, this sour treatment tainted our enjoyment of the food. We weren’t comfortable or felt welcome at this pizza joint«owned by the same Italian family for over 45 years». It’s especially sad because the food itself was excellent. Also, given the fact that it’s next door to our hotel, I’m absolutely certain we would’ve visited several times during our stay here. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

Delicious! I ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch slice and a Pepperoni slice the first time I came here and loved both. Some of the best pizza of my life! We came back for a second time(in one weekend) and I tried the Buffalo Chicken slice. It was a little disappointing but I should have stuck with what worked the first time. Perfect sauce and crust, always had seating, quick service.

Best pizza I’ve ever put in my face! Being from the south I wanted to experience a real NY slice, and it seems I picked the right spot — thanks Unilocal! This is a get in and get out NY pace kinda place — so that certainly added to the experience. The price is right and the dudes are quick. But nothing tops this pizza. The truth has set me free to let anyone else in the world claiming to serve NY pizza know whether they are even in the same ballpark — NYPizzaSuprema is setting the standard.

Wanted to love this place, but after the initial bite of the cheese/basil slice that I had, it became clear that the sauce is too sweet. Not sure if they add sugar or what, but it was almost cloying. It also took over two hours to get three pizzas and we’re located only a few avenues away.

Stayed at a hotel around the corner from NY Pizza Suprema, and if I could have gone here every day, I would have. The pizza was delicious and perfect for a quick bite to eat, even if it’s crowded. It’s right across from MSG, so it would be a great option for dinner beforehand.

The best pizza in the area! Expensive but worth it for what you get. I had mushroom slices, but they have a whole lot of flavors! If I worked in the area, I’d go here everyday! The tomato sauce was sweet and tangy just what I love. It reminds me of Bensonhurst pizza. The guys are fast with the line and getting you your pizza as soon as it comes out. I bet this place gets busy in the day, so good for them.

Came here right before the Billy Joel show at MSG as I was too lazy to make proper dinner reservations elsewhere. While the line was out the door, it moved rather quickly, and now I know why. They don’t throughly heat up the slices prior to serving them to the customer. While my first slice of plain was hot, the second slice was at room temperature. It obviously never made it to the oven. I should have made the guy reheat it. My first visit was a few years ago. The plain slice had a nice crust to it but the sauce tonight was a little too sweet for my liking. The fresh mozzarella slice with basil, although not hot or warm, was delicious. Both the sauce and cheese used for this slice was of a much higher quality and taste than the plain slice. This place has been here forever and people seem to like it. It has ample seating and the lines move fairly quickly. If your slices appear to be cold or lukewarm, have them reheated to an appropriate temperature.

This place, located pretty much across the street from Madison Square Garden, is a prime example of what I figured a New York pizza place would be like. Line out the door, huge selection of slices, and an emphasis on doing nothing but making great pies. These guys are no nonsense and like a well oiled machine when it comes to running their business and you better be ready to order because they are ready and prepared to get through the line as quickly as possible. I ordered a single slice of pepperoni which was again about what I expected and, while it didn’t blow me away, it definitely hit the spot. One of their specialties which is highly recommended by both the restaurant and plenty of other reviewers is the upside down pizza. If I make it back here, I’ll definitely give it a try.

Really good, genuine NY-style pizza right next to Penn Station? Sometimes, life is just awesome like that. Slices are a little pricey at $ 4 – 5 a slice, but they’re really good. Upside down is a must for anyone whose favorite part of pizza is the sauce. Tastes like a buttery, cheesy tomato stew that you can eat with your hands. Margherita pizza is also excellent. Refer to my profile picture for how much I love the OG of pizza toppings.

We smelled this place from half a block away! We stopped in here and the pizza was AMAZEBALLS!!! This is what NY pizza is supposed to be! We actually came by 3 times in the 5 days we were in NYC but one time they had just opened and didn’t have anything ready. This is another place that I am glad I don’t live close to as it really is that good, like lose control and eat 15 slices of pizza good. This place is worth a trip to NYC alone. This will be one of the extremely few places that I will give 4 stars to. The cheese and red pepper shakers though, there only seemed to be 1 of each for the whole dining room, that’s a problem.

Really good but not great. I bought a slice of cheese and buffalo chicken before an event at Madison Square Garden. The buffalo chicken was pretty bland and tasted as if it’d been sitting out for a while. The plain cheese was better. But as I was at the MSG event, I read everyone talking about the upside down pizza being their best — so after I gave it a shot. Definitely agree. Go with that.

The pizza taste so good that I forgotten to take picture of the first 2 pizza. Upside Down pizza– usually I hate thick crust pizza because of the hard soggy bread, but this one is superb! Thick crunchy crust! And the sauce is awesome. Mushroom pizza– best one I ever had. Ended up ordered another slice of Suprema special pizza– just awesome!

Oh Unilocal.I ask you to find me the perfect New York pizza joint, and you so delivered. This place was bangin. Ordering is a little chaotic, but you’ve just gotta be assertive. Hang out at the end, know what your pizza looks like, and yell and point when you see it. These guys are always busy. One slightly weird thing. They don’t do refills. Not that there’s a fee for them, they just don’t do them. Don’t ask me why. Maybe because they’re too busy. I thought it would be hard to find a seat because there was a line out the door, but a lot of people take it to go, so it was no trouble. I got white and plain. The white was fantastic. The ricotta was so smooth and fresh, the garlic was just right, and the olive oil drizzled over it was of good quality and very flavorful. Omg the sauce on that plain slice. I could drink it. It was slightly sweet, but also had a hint of Italian herbs, and the layer of cheese was perfect… not so thick it was peeling off, not so thin you can’t taste it. And the crust was so thin and crunchy, yet still it had substance and flavor. I also had a bite of Tyler’s upside down slice and it was really good too. A nod to Chicago deep dish, but a lot lighter. Its the tastiest imitation I’ve ever had. If I’m ever in NYC again and have a hankering for classic New York pizza, I know where I’m going!

**$ 10 credit card minimum, but no limit for DEBIT cards!** Nine times out of ten, when you are dumped out from public transportation into your destination city you are disoriented and starving. And when your bus, cab, or train dumps you out by Penn Station, it’s more than just food you want — you need(and deserve!) a slice of that renowned NYC pizza. «But where should I go? I don’t want to sink my teeth into mediocrity, or empty my wallet on that bougie stuff.» Have no fear, you food loving and budget conscious tourist! Pizza Suprema serves it up right and is just steps away from the hub of it all! Their white pizza is a must have. So. Much. Ricotta. Sprinkle some red pepper flakes on it and you will be as close to heaven as I’ve ever got.

So I’ve definitely had Suprema before, since I work a block away and my office orders it all the time, but after hearing that wannabe punk guy who wrote Slice Harvester I was tickled to take a closer look and see just what all that fuss is about. This brought me to Suprema yesterday for a quick slice. It was 6:30 pm and a queue had formed from the door to the register, and this is no hole in the wall. I looked around and the Slice Harvester #1 pizza slice banners were everywhere. Ah, the power of marketing – tourists, locals, and transplants waiting patiently for a $ 3 plain slice, the upside down, and the mozzarella-basil option. Seating is generous here and it does resemble the pizza parlor of old with those semi-booths. The guys behind the counter do a reasonable job considering the volume, but it”s hard not to make minor errors here. As for the pizza itself? It was relatively think for a basic NY slice, with sweet sauce as advertised and a decent amount of cheese. Definitely in the range of better plain slices I’ve had, but I’d have a hard time crowning this one as the best slice in Manhattan, or whatever. Good to have a solid place nearby, though.

I gotta say I thought it was very average. I’m not from NYC so maybe I lack the gene that allows me to taste great pizza but I was shocked how off Unilocal was about this place. The place is super duper busy though. The line was long and we were here on a Sunday night. It was a long enough line for me to remember. Plenty of pizza choices for you. Tiny tiny New York bathrooms. Limited seating especially when it’s busy. Maybe when we return to NYC, we will check it out again to give it a second chance but for now I was unimpressed.
