This empanadas food truck revived my soul after a long day of work. Located right outside my apartment in Union square, it really hit the spot. I had the argentine(beef) and spicy chicken empanadas; both were great but the spicy chicken was exceptionally superb. Service was quick and easy and it was very reasonably priced. I will definitely look out for this food truck again!

Not bad, not great. Hunger not even remotely satisfying, even after ordering two empanadas. I ordered the curry vegan which was nice due to the mushrooms, but the generic curry flavor was just that, generic. The Spicy Chicken empanada lacked filling and flavor. I feel the flavor descriptions on the takeout menu are better than the actual product. Also, the empanada dough gets old fast if not eaten right away.

The Chicken empanadas are the best. Today the food truck was near my job. I tried it for lunch. Really good.

Tasted these empanadas yesterday while in front of the apple store. I was starving. I got the spicy cheese and vegan. I thought these were going to be very dry but they weren’t. I actually liked the curry vegan one a lot. The spicy cheese one wasn’t what I thought it would be but still pretty good. Both of these were $ 3 each and while not horrible at all, I would much rather get something else for the money. The meat fillings are $ 4 each. I tasted the shortrib one and didn’t like it at all. Btw ask for the hot sauce if you like some kick and throw the red one on top. Bangin’. If you need a snack and the truck is around then give them a shot. I just wouldn’t say it’s a «must try» in nyc.

Amazing empanadas! Saw this at the shopping center across from the Barclays Sunday night on 12.27.15. The two men working the truck were amazing, they deserve a raise. So polite and made the best suggestions. They even pointed out the cute initials detail on each empanada that is used to tell the flavors. The empanadas are $ 3/$ 4 each or $ 8 for 3, do the 3 for $ 8 because my boyfriend and I instantly regretted not doing that! Haha. We only tried the Argentine. It was so good, juicy ground beef with peppers and onions and potatoes on a crispy flakey crust. The best empanada I’ve ever had. Usually they’re so dry, meat or cheese wise. I think the next one on the list to try is the spicy chicken and that cheese concoction, but argentine will always be apart of my order no matter what. Ugh I want one now. I’ll definitely be coming back here for sure. They need a store are Brooklyn!

Ate empanada here, in Soho. A quick and flavorful bite. At $ 4 an empanada, it’s a bit steeply priced, but they pay for gas. Guy in truck talked to me, happy I ordered their favorite — the short rib. Meat, tasted like a small sloppy joe.

Saw this little truck near Times Square and we were pretty hungry so we decided we would try out a few empanadas. They’re really small but good for a quick snack on the go. Don’t think I would come again because of the price for the size.

Truck was parked outside of my office. Co-worker picked up some for the team. Tried chicken, steak, and beef. All were fine. Dough is fine. Steak filling was a bit sweet(methinks from the caramelized onion). Beef was fine. Chicken was fine. Co-worker said the worker was friendly. For a baked empanada, not bad. I’ve definitely had better. Not sure I’d spend my own money or calorie allotment on a reorder, though would not go so far as to say they’re not worth a go for others.

These empanadas are small but mighty! They have vegetarian options that make you not even miss the meat. The spicy chicken had just enough heat to enhance the flavor of the spices and veggies in the chicken. On my next visit to NYC I will be back to try the other options!

Whenever the truck is parked by my office it makes my day! The shiitake curry empanada is amazing(the veggie/vegan options are very much appreciated), and the medialunas taste like they came straight out of a Buenos Aires bakery. Highly recommended!

They’ve been parked on 6th Avenue and Bleecker thus summer so I gave it a shot. The short rib and Argentine empanadas were delicious. At $ 3/$ 4 it’s not cheap, but that’s the time and place we live in. They ran out of pork when I was there so I’d try that one, too.

Without question the best empanada I’ve ever had. their short rib joints are the best-es-es ever… like ev-ah!!! The portobello mushroom in the spinach crust is also fantastic and their sweet ones, like the empanada with Nutella and cranberries is finger lickin’ good…(Apologies to the Colonel…) Me likes Nuchas very muchas!(Yeah, I know…)

They make the best assessable empanadas in the city close to midtown work and residential areas and doing it well for years now. However, being Hispanic and around a lot of great empanada aficionados I will say that although I crave Nuchas they are inconsistent. Some empanadas of the same variety will have less filling while another day there is too much of one particular ingredient overwhelming the balance & towards the end of the day there’s frequently burnt crust. I like that they have different flavor crust and some are tastier than others. The Short rib has improved smokiness over the years while the dessert empanada is limited now to the pretty yummy apple nutella mashup. Unfortunately, last time I ordered the apple on Columbus Ave., they gave me a strange onion empanada with a nice shaved parmesan crust that was called Spicy cheese but tasted like onion garlic bread. Not a winner unless you missed your fill of the middle of an onion bialy. The curry also changes. Last time was all Eggplant & not a mushroom. The Jambalaya although tasty could use a chorizo but its good for a seafood option only its too bad thats the only one with shrimp since I’d prefer my rice as a side dish & not getting in my way of the good shrimp. But a lot of people like it. To sum it up you just have to try a few of them and understand that the flavor, dough consistency, price, cooking and ingredients may change a little depending on the day, variety, year and which truck your at. I’ve tried Upper west columbus ave, Flat Iron and 2 around times square. All & all I’m happy they exist!

This spring-is-springing weather lead me to the Nuchas truck outside campus with hope that I wouldn’t waste any more of this beautiful day inside. I grabbed one each of the three vegetarian empanadas: the portobello, the spicy cheese, and the shiitake curry(which is also vegan!) All three were pretty tasty, with the shiitake curry easily being my favorite. This truck doesn’t get more than three stars from me because, although the food was good and the service was pleasant, I expect my hunger to be satisfied after dropping $ 8. I devoured my $ 8 meal and am still quite hungry. All-in-all, not a bad option, but for fellow Brooklyn College students, it’s worth the walk to get cheaper, more filling food a bit further away from campus.

I stepped out of the Apple Store and there was the Nuchas Food Truck. It smelled heavenly on an empty stomach. I took(2) #5, Short Ribs home for Indira and I, $ 4 each. They were A LOT smaller than I had hoped. The bread was dry but nicely fluted. The onion taste was divine. The Short Rib is a «Creekstone Farm slow braised in red wine, onions, peppers, and fresh herbs. Rosemary dough» Thank God I also stopped at the Gorilla Truck parked next to them or I would’ve been hungry!

Is it too early to give high marks to a food truck? What the heck, these empanadas are the best I’ve had to date. I had the Argentina meat empanada($ 3) and a jambalaya(also a meat) empanada($ 4); the Argentinian being the better(in my opinion) of the two. Soft, tender meat with onions inside a tasty casing made it Good Eats!

I saw the Nuchas empanada food truck while roaming around and had to check it out. They had a sticker out on the front that said that they were the 2013 winner/recipient of the Vendy Awards. This food truck company was developed by Ariel Barbouth, who wanted to offer empanadas that were innovative in flavor and combinations. They offer a small selection of meat empanadas(Argentine style, Short Rib, Spicy Chicken, and Pulled Pork), vegetarian options(Porto(portabello) and Spicy Cheese), breakfast, as well as sweet options. I tried their Spicy Chicken, which was filled with chipotle seasoning, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and basil — this was okay, and it tasted like a tomato-y chicken/vegetable soup that was filled within, a little too watery for my taste. I also believe each truck offers some specials, so I had the Shiitake Curry — the curry was smooth and had tons of potatoes within, but it was a little on the bland side. I wasn’t a fan of the empanada dough itself, as it was a little too thick and chalky-like for my taste. I liked how on the exterior of the empanada dough, there’s a little letter stamp, that denotes which empanada it is: D The staff here were friendly and they definitely heat up your empanadas so it’s piping hot. +meats/vegetarian/sweet empanadas available +friendly staff
