So, I went to the game last night. It was drizzling, chilly, and we were losing. I needed something to cheer me up, and food is always the best thing for that. After the $ 6 hot dog at Nathans, the $ 10 nachos(they tack on a few bucks when you get waiter service, but they were really only *worth* 5 bucks at most), and $ 7 soda, I was quickly going broke. I went up to the concession area and was pleasantly surprised to see some ethnic options. I originally wanted sushi, but there was no way I would pay 9 bucks and change for a California roll. Right next door was Noodle Bowl. Everything on the menu was under $ 10. Hey, that could work. I mean really, it’s hard to screw up noodles… or so I thought. Listen, I get that not every Chinese place is good. I also get that Asians and non-Asians have different opinions on what constitutes«good» Chinese food. This place, though, I’m not sure WHO they’re catering to. I ordered the $ 8.50 beef pan fried noodle bowl. There was a ton of food in the pre-packed box. However, it appears that they used the absolute cheapest, worst cuts of beef possible. The vegetables were good, but not nearly enough for my liking. There was a lot of beef, so I wish they would have used less of the crappy meat and either used smaller amounts of good meat or used more veg. The flavor was a bit weird for noodles. The sauce was more sweet than savory and had no depth to it at all. Also, because the boxes are all pre-packed, the oil had seeped through the bottom of the carton — not good when you’re eating on your lap. The lesson learned here is that«cheap» isn’t necessarily a good thing when it comes to stadium food. Next time, I’ll eat at the McD’s next door before heading in to the stadium!

2.5 stars rounded up due to lack of decent eating options at the stadium! While checking out the new stadium with friends, we rounded the corner near near 3rd base on the field level and saw the sign for NOODLEBOWL. «I’m not getting anything from there unless there’s at least one asian person working there,» says my friend, Eddie C. Well, fortunately for Ed, every person working there was asian(Chinese). We had pretty low expectations but both items we ordered were actually decent. The chicken pan fried noodle bowl($ 8.50 and 720 calories according to the menu) was tasty with just a touch of liquid smoke added for a nice smoky taste. Not much chicken, but good firm noodles with fresh tasting bell pepper and brocolli. . We got an order of four dumplings($ 6 and 300 calories) that were also not half bad. They were steamed with a nice thick skin and some very juicy pork inside. Remember you’re in the Bronx, not Flushing so manage your expectations accordingly. But if you’re sick of hot dogs and cotton candy then this is definitely a great call. (photos submitted)
