Get a library card at any nypl location. Log on to the website, select books, place a hold. Give it some time depending on the title’s popularity (I got «Liberty and tyranny» in six weeks). Receive a notification via email. Go to the library, front desk is 7 feet from the entrance. Patiently wait for an ancient lady in front of you taking forever. Pick up a book. Go home. Renew multiple times online when you realize you have absolutely no time to read it.
The crowd is exactly the same as it’s at any free venue with seats and restrooms though I saw some students with laptops.
A quick glance — overall the selection is pretty scarce. But thanks to one of those travel guides (there’s a whole shelf) my vacation trip was very enjoyable.
