If you’re a comic book aficionado, living in Brooklyn or just visiting, always make sure to pay this place a visit. This is like a library of comic books. Their huge collection of comics include back issues from 50’s, which is not something you see on a regular comic store. No overpricing, no monkey business.

When I was a kid I used to go to buy comics at their old location all the time. Best comic shop in New York, forget corporate places like Midtown Comics or Forbidden Planet. These guys rock. Roger knows everything you could possibly want to know about comics and is super friendly to boot. Absolutely huge selection of back issues. They also don’t price gouge like a lot of the other comic book shops in New York. Support this store!

The best comic book store in NYC bar none. Roger goes out of his way to make you feel at home in one of the few remaining old school comic shops left. If you are looking for something rare and hard to find look no further than the Mysterious Time Machine.

For the comic collector looking for that one issue for his collection. Mysterious Time Machine is the number one store in New York City for finding back issue comics. Every inch of this store is filled with comics, all labeled and organized, all bagged and boarded. I asked the employee for Judge Dredd comics, which date all the way back to the 50’s and are hard to find. He pulled a box, filled with Judge Dredd comics, organized first by series, and then by issue number. It took me five minutes to realize I had pulled twenty comics and decided to stop myself before I went bankrupt. That’s when the shop keeper pulled up a comic price guide, saw that each comic was worth about $ 5 and then charged me $ 2 per comic. I’ll be paying Mysterious Time Machine next time I visit the city. It’s the best place to satisfy my comic itch.

This place is great. The staff is courteous and they usually have the offbeat book that I’m looking for. They’re happy to order stuff for you if they don’t have it in stock. Really pleasant shop all around.

Great selection, awesome prices! I’ve been to both the Bloor and Yonge stores and the staff are genuinely friendly. Mysterious got me hooked on exploring more independent bookstores but I’ll definitely be coming back to Mysterious more often.

I’ve been buying from Roger for years — best back issues in the city! Fair prices, great selection, and he’s a great guy to boot! Definitely check this shop out when you’re filling in the gaps of your collection or looking for key issues.

This place fantastic! Enter this subterranean lair and you’ll find a plethora of comic books from the silver, bronze, and modern age! Comics from the big two, dark horse, image, archie, you name it! Not to mention a smörgåsbord of old magazines as well! And hey, if manga’s you’re thing, they got some of that as well. Pretty decent trade paperback collection, but the focus is mostly on single issues. It’s almost overwhelming to navigate but the affable Roger and his staff are more than willing to help. They’re constantly getting in new stuff, so if they don’t have something you’re looking for, give em a call later and see what comes in. They also accept cards which is a big plus. I’m definitely coming back here again and I would absolutely recommend this place to comic fans of all ages!

Great selection of comics and really a great place to find your silver and golden age comic books. I’d say that the best part of this store is his owner, who himself is a pretty nice guy, helpful and awesome person to chat with about your comics. JUST comics, no memorabilia or anything. It’s a little place but stacked up with comics, FULL of boxes everywhere with vintage comics hang up on the wall. Would visit again.

Tons and tons and tons of comics. Boxes lining the walls. From Archie to Marvel, anything you want. Roger was really friendly and helpful. Prices are great and extremely accurate… not overpriced like I have come to expect for NYC. Nothing but comics… no memorabilia or accessories, just to clarify. Been here twice. Loved this little hole in the wall and I’ll definitely be back again soon!

The best comic shop in New York, and possibly the galaxy! Great for any age, whether you’ve been reading comics for years or are just jumping in, everyone is friendly and happy to recommend books. The selection of new stuff and back issues is phenomenal, and if it’s not in stock Roger will do whatever it takes to get you what you want! This shop makes Wednesdays awesome!

This place is amazing. I am new to comics and wandered in after picking up a Swamp Thing off the street. Such cool people in there who welcome newbies and don’t make them feel like comic-tards. They got me on track with how stuff works and their shop is beyond awesome. Floor to ceiling comics and very few collected volumes. Mainly single issues. Really fantastic and the guys are great banter. Go here!!!

I love going there and just hanging out. I always find a stack of new and old books. Classic shop. Support small business not giant soulless corporate shops.

Mysterious Time Machine is one of, if not, the last comic book stores of its kind in New York City. It’s hard to keep a little independent used comic book store running and yet Roger and the others working there somehow find success. A lot of reviews compliment this place on its vintage selection and that’s for good reason. My first trip into the store ended with me pulling almost complete sets of Animal Man(from Grant Morrison to Steve Dillon) and Booster Gold(the original run, as well as the latter Geoff Johns-Dan Jurgens series). I’ve also gotten key issues of Batman, Superman, Daredevil, New Mutants, and others since shopping here. But these guys go out of their way to get their customers what they want, even when it comes to new stuff. My local comic book shop ran out of an issue of Saga and it was Mysterious Time Machine that re-ordered one for me. I’ve since dropped the old place and do my pulls here, where I know they’ll actually hunt down the issue for me. I send friends here all the time. Roger, Carlos, and the rest run the best comic shop in NYC.

This recessed space, based on a google redirect(and the«MOVED» Unilocal listing @ ) is the revamp of Mysterious Island /Roger’s, and they stay true to the quality and selection there.

As the Rajin’ Cajun would say ” Life don’t get much better than this!“ The people here know comics. The owner showed me all the back issues he has and the ever so popular grading of comics. I wanted to know if my NYX3(the first appearance of x23) comic would be worth some big bucks one day. He gave me the good the bad the ugly. It was great to see someone so passionate about what he is selling. Just outside the 9th street path for my Jerzee peeps, This place i know i will be spending alot of time in.

Two hours early for dinner at Kin Shop. Lock the bike and proceed down. Tiny place under a corner Lenny’s sandwich shop. Maybe I can find a cheap read and then retire to what still passes for dive bar in the heart of NYU’s gentrified Westish Village. I’m in there 40 seconds and happened to chime in on a conversation about Alpha Flight– how Wolverine was or was not a member, and who the leader was(nb– in the 80’s — weak ass Xmen offshoot from Canadia– Guardian was the«Scott Summers» of the team– read«leader») I am handed basil hayden and a peroni. Then another of the Basil and I had to turn down a Peroni. Spent an hour in geekdom chiming in on random geek and freak things — from michael moorcock(yes, we are all teased in HS for reading Moorcock) to obscure titles that somehow were worth collecting back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Found some alan moore I don’t own; some eddie campbell I have never seen; a pirhana press book I should have bought in 1990, but was a poor student with no time to read. While I doubt the place is where you want to park kids for a half — hour(thank the lords of chaos) it is just fine for those of us who remember when John Byrne was cutting edge at Marvel. Nuff Said. Graphic novels are 50% off — back issues line the walls. Conversation is geeky over 40, if you please and thank you.
