Really this place is 3.5 because the habanero fried chicken was so good. Came here on a Saturday later afternoon without making a reservation. We easily got seated at the bar. Although the place never really filled up. We ordered a bunch of small plates to begin with. We got the pork flat bread, salt and pepper shrimp, and ceviche. The ceviche was good but could have been colder. The salt and pepper shrimp was good but the shell was really hard to peel off. I really liked the flat bread but my husband thought it was just okay. This place also has a cart or workers going around serving food from the kitchen dim sum style. It wasn’t that great. The cart was basically crab claws and oysters. From the view of our bar seat we saw the worker repacking the seafood and constantly switching it to new set up so that it would look appetizing but not really. We got a snow pea salad but it was so salty. Really the food here was just okay. Nothing special. And fine restaurants do tend to put more salt in their foods but this place was SOSALTY it took away from what could’ve been a better meal. Finally the fried chicken. It was so good. But really spicy. Be prepared. I thought since the restaurant catered towards non-Asians that it wouldn’t be bad but it was extremely spicy. The flavor keeps making you want more by the spiciness will make you need a nice cold beer.

Went there after work, didn’t know has to make a reservation even for a week night, so we were seated by bar, which is totally fine with me. Seems really popular here. lol We ordered the pork buns, I recomment to try this! But be aware that it’s kinda fatty, forget about your diet, lol Also we got the fried chx, it’s crispy but really really spicy! My bf couldn’t finish after 2 pieces. They have the non spicy one but seems like they change the menu every week, so there’s no non spicy one when we got there. I was kinda got annoyed by the tray order and the waitresses try to sale other small dishes to you all the time sorta like dim sum). BUT! Tthey just showed up and started to tell you what they have blah blah blah no matter you were talking or having food. Had to stop what u were doing and listen. The food tastes good but definitely over priced. As to the pork buns, I highly recommend you eat in the Bao Haus in Union Sq. It’s really authentic and much more cheaper. I do feel the buns in Baohaus are even better than momofuku. Went there coz of the name Momofuku, it is a good restaurant for sure but also definitely not worth the price!

The food is spectacular, but also expensive, so I save Má Pêche for special occuasions. They have some gluten free options, vegetarian options, and a generally diverse menu. The cocktails are fun and creative, too. It’s dim sum style for appetizers, then you order a main course(I like to grab a bunch of dim sum dishes from the people that walk around with them in carts, then split one main course with someone else). Lots of the dim sum style dishes are salads, vegetables, etc. rather than comfort foods like shrimp buns, and they are surprisingly tasty. There’s a separate appetizer menu too — so get some buns anyway because they’re also amazing. I’m not a big fan of milk bar’s dessert options, but my family really enjoyed those too. I can say they are certainly creative(unique pies and stuff). Má Pêche is the type of place where you can definitely try something new. If you can afford it, this is an awesome restaurant. The staff is very helpful, kind, and informative, and the dining space is beautiful.

Food was amazing. Service was very good, just a bit sparse at times. Drinks were AWESOME. And dessert, as always, was perfection.

Pretty interesting place. Good cookies here! Tried their cereal milk shake. It’s interesting It just tastes like whatever your milk tastes like after you’re done with your cereal. They have a cereal milk mix for like $ 7– don’t buy it. It’s basically just corn flakes and brown sugar. You could make it at home. But this is a good place to try!

I was expecting much more: other than the atmosphere, everything was just at par. Food: we ordered the crudo halibut, a beet salad from the cart, and the habenero fried chicken. The crudo and beet salad were well executed but the chicken, which we were most looking forward to, was very dry. It needed some sort of sauce. Disappointing, to say the least. Drinks: my husband ordered a gin-based cocktail that he ended up sending back because it was so strong with a lack of flavor. He ordered what I did, a mezcal mule substituted with vodka. They charged an extra $ 3 for vodka without telling us. Service: started out well but half way through our server disappeared and stopped checking in. I wish it was better but everything was just okay. Wouldn’t go back.

Once you’ve been to Momofuku Ko, expectations become really high when trying another member of the Momofuku family: Ma Peche. Food was for sure good but not exceptional. Apparently I was the first person to dislike the pie(which is supposedly a speciality). I was also a bit disappointed with the carts and their surprise meals. Wish i could have found a more interesting extra dish there…

This restaurant wouldn’t be my top choice for a brunch. I didn’t have a bad experience but it was also not much to write about the restaurant. *The interior/service* — Service was pretty good and the décor is quite nice with very high ceiling. You are in the lower level with a high ceiling. Servers are attentive and friendly and very quick for basic duties *Food* — The brunch menu was small and overpriced. I would’t recommend you to order the dim sum style dishes here. The waitress recommended the dim sum style dishes. But, the portions are very small and expensive. And, the taste were not that great… I would say the Chicken and Waffle and pork buns are only good dishes to order for brunch. Those 2 dishes are delicious. I think If there’s one thing David Chang knows and gets right, it’s his pork. So, I would try dinner dishes with pork. Would we go back? Maybe… but we probably wouldn’t go here for brunch.

I have a love /hate relationship with Momofuku. Not only this place, but all of their restaurants. Each place has a bunch of hype but most times I leave underwhelmed. I had brunch here and tried the egg buns $ 13 and Habanero Chicken & Waffles $ 18. The dishes were pretty average and I enjoyed the chicken and waffles much more than the egg bun. They have waiters walking around and offering you small batches straight from the kitchen. Very friendly staff, but I wish they would have the greed/red cards like all you can steakhouses, to let the staff know if you even want to hear about the small dishes. I felt bad for cutting their schpeel short and saying that we are good. But after a new dish every few minutes, it got a bit old.

While our original intention was to simply walk into Milk to buy some cookies, it didn’t take much for us to convince ourselves to walk downstairs to grab a «bite» to eat. That bite turned into several bites, and after an awesome and fulfilling meal, we left completely satisfied. Oh, we also left with our cookies Our server recommended that we order one large plate, and two small plates to share. He also advised us of the dim sum style of plate passing with some extra treats not on the menu. We ordered the spicy(very spicy in my opinion! *which is awesome*) habanero chicken, the red snapper and the chicken liver pâté(which I’d give my left arm for right now!). While we enjoyed that and our delicious drinks(Bonji old fashioned and the Vieux Carré), a cart rolls up with some awesome oysters(Totten Inlet — west coast), shrimp(nothing special) and crab claws(small babies). The oysters were totally rad and when you make your selection, the person with the cart makes a nice presentation with different sauces for you. Next up, a passed tray of other goodies. Beet salad, some kimchi Apple treat… and some other things I cannot remember. Not because they weren’t good, but because I may have fallen into a food coma after and my mind was erased. Or was it the after dinner moscato(I need it in my life aways) and truffles… Oh and the cookies. Anyhow, I’d go back again. And again. And again…

So disappointed in Momofuku Ma Peche. The crazy thing is I had low expectations to begin with. With the exception of Ssam bar, I’ve found all the Momofuku’s to be pretty bleh. Menu items are intriguing for sure – lots of fun ingredients and fun flavors – if only they tasted good together… or if only they prepared it well. No dish never seemed to get there. Of the small plates going around for about $ 4 each(including individual oysters), the best one was the smoked trout dip with seven spice and chicharron. Smoked trout flavor really came through but they only give you 3 tiny-ass chips and they took it away before we even finished. Same with the cellery root dip with calabrian chili, tahini, lemon. Of the appetizers, Sichuan Pork Flatbread with chinese broccoli, tofu, crispy shallots($ 15) was a major disappoint. The flatbread itself was soft and flabby and the pork bits on top were basically pork sung. I could have made this myself much better(probably). Fried Brussels Sprouts with fish sauce vinaigrette, maple syrup, and mint($ 11) was actually good but every restaurant nowadays makes good brussel sprouts. Frien and I split 2 large plates. Habanero fried chicken with lime($ 28) was actually really good, but it was just your usually good fried chicken, nothing special like bonchon. Heritage farms double pork chop with black trumpet mushrooms, kale, and cannellini beans were really good. I would recommend this one. Pork was cooked just right and the beasn were to die for. Dessert menu was literally the same thing you could’ve gotten upstairs at the Milk Bar. I really thought they’d elevate it by trying to offer something else interesting but nope. Ma Peche never fails to disappoint. A pretty expensive meal that TOOK2HOURS, mind you. Service was incredibly slow. Took 20 mins to get next dish sometimes. Never coming back, even if it wasn’t the absolute worst.

Food here was good, can’t complain about the flavors. The pork flatbread had a nice kick to it, the root vegetable salad was nice and crisp(dressing was a little heavy, though), and the habanero fried chicken was cooked perfectly and delightfully spicy(it was okay for me, but my husband was sweating buckets). The oysters were great(although $ 4 a piece) and the dessert options were Milk Bar fare(awesome). I think my main complaints are 1.) prices($ 4 for a crab claw? Really? Or for one oyster?), and 2.) I don’t think the dishes were remarkable enough for me to come back. I really enjoyed the fried chicken, but at the end of the day, it’s just fried chicken and you’re paying $ 28 for 6 pieces. That being said, the staff were really nice and helpful. They have carts going around with food but I didn’t feel like anyone was trying to push us to take any. I really want to try Momofuku Nishi, and Milk Bar is always great. David Chang’s food is always solid, but not sure if this place was special enough.

Often times Asian-fusion places do not fuse with good balance of the different cuisines involved. David Chang does an awesome job of it all around. The décor is elegant yet undaunting, attitude is respectful yet casual, and the dishes at Má Pêche are unique, delicious, and well-balanced. I will not list the dishes we had because that will just make my mouth water and my heart ache with desire. Bottom line is: must go!

This is a place built for sharing, but if you’re alone there are options for you as well. I had a few items off the rolling raw bar, but ordered the spicy fried chicken for myself. It was a little darker than I like my chicken but it was very good, and very spicy.

Great cocktails, delicious, interesting flavors of food. Habanero fried chicken, BBQ brisket buns and vegetable rice cakes were amazing. The small dishes passed dim sum style were also great, oysters, uni, celery root hummus. And you top it off with crack pie! What?! Seriously fun, tasty place.

The place is packed with teens eating the famous«cereal ice cream» seating is in the back. It has a good amount of seating, we got there as it just opened, but about 10 minutes after we sat down the place packed up, quick! The Beau and I both went with Tecate’s as a starter before we ordered(they had a great cocktails menu as well) We both ordered the spicy chicken sandwich– the most popular item according to the waitress. It reminded us of chick fil a chicken sandwiches, thought this was much juicier and meatier than a fast food burger. The tecate paired very well with the spice of the sandwhich. It was good! Try it when you don’t want a fast food sandwich but are willing to wait a while to get it!

There’s a quote about standing on the shoulders of giants. Well, there’s no standing here… just sitting and wondering if the $ 15 you paid for the small plate appetizer ought to cure cancer. Let me start off by saying the place is a glorified basement cafeteria with drapes that have lights behind them — not where you want to be eating food. We had the chicken pâté, brisket bun? and Sichuan pork flatbread. The pâté tasted real weird and was to be spread on some burnt slices of baguette(it was disgusting). The brisket buns are literally the only reason you’d even want to consider coming here but, even those were just OK. The flatbread, from what I’ve seen, was standard Momofuku bullshit meaning it’s dried onion sprinkled on something vaguely Chinese. Please — I understand that there’s a need to be cutting edge in the food scene but, there’s nothing inventive about burnt bread and lackluster cultural appropriation. Just go by the playbook. Thanks.

My husband and I had brunch for Valentine’s Day celebration. I didn’t have good experience at momofuku noodle bar but Momofuku Má Pêche changes my expression of Momofuku. I like the cocktail, spicy fried chicken and salmon Benedict. Egg bun was interesting combination but I like all other dishes I have ordered.

Great location and high ceiling that so rare in mahanttan. But I had a hard time to find out anything amazed me from the whole Valentine’s Day 5 course meal. Please don’t get me wrong. I certainly enjoyed the tender grilled octopus and the creative potato gratin. Chef Chang combines spicy sliced potato into gratin(in my howetown located in south west China, sliced potato cooked as stir fried with marinated veggies — YanCai or just hot pepper. Tasted very similar to what’s inside of the gratin side). Throughout the meal, I was looking for more uniqueness/originations as David Chang’s momofuku series is high praised Asian Fusion. But the this experience wasn’t like a smooth story of 5 courses. It’s more like different pieces some French, Chinese, Japanese, and New American put together. Staff is very friendly and ambiance is cool. But I would look for more uniqueness and creation from the Chef Chang.

3.5 seems to be a good number here. I recently tried this place with a friend of mine. They serve conventional appetizer, entrée, then they also serve«passed plate» that come around to offer like dim sum. We ordered cherry mocktail which was not bad. Then ordered now off-the-menu pork bun. I don’t know if my pallet has changed or the pork bun became boring, but I really didn’t have that excitement I had when I had the first bite of pork bun in 2011. Maybe it is time to revisit Ssam bar… Also ordered raw fluke seasoned with caper and anchovy. It didn’t taste bad, but anchovy was so inconsistently placed through the plate, so some of the bites I had was too salty. As for the entrée, we ordered pork chop and fried chicken. First pork chop comes with green leaves and peas. I thought the composition of peas and kale was good, harmonizing the flavor well with the pork chop. The meat, which I think was cooked medium or medium-well, was very soft and juicy, but somehow it was very heavy for some reason. Then the fried chicken. It was fried well with good crispiness. However, it was seasoned so inconsistently, so some part of the chicken was very salty or way too spicy(I mean way way way too spicy). If you are not good with spicy food(especially like thai spicy or mexican spicy) you shouldn’t really order this one. we sat on a bar stool. Bartender was quite attentive to us, and the restaurant ambience was very vibrant and nice. Am I coming back? Not sure.

3.5 I am a fan of Ma Peche, I just find it really expensive. I really enjoyed my first visit. I dropped in last night(and totally forgoooot about fuku+), sat at the bar. Had a cherry lime virgin drink, ordered the habanero fried chicken and heritage pork chop. The fried chicken was not as good as I expected… I remember the fried chicken meal at Noodle Bar but this doesn’t compare to it. And nowhere would I put it in my top fried chicken experiences. The pork chop was amazing and totally worth the $ 40. It came with crispy kale and apricots. Seriously, what a well cooked pork chop. As for the passed plates, nothing particularly interested me, it is an evolving menu and they didn’t start until we were digging into our entrees. It takes forever to see all of them — we left before the rotation ended. The uni chawanmushi was kinda disappointing. For dessert, we got a soft serve twist(cereal milk and crack pie) with cornflake topping. Yum. The flavors were so smooth, slightly salty, and almost indiscernible unless you tried to. Next time, I’m going to fuku+.

Dishes were a hit or miss. I highly recommend the shrimp in coconut curry and the pork buns, but the other dishes left much to be desired. the gem salad was unmemorable and bland. The vegetable rice cakes were so salty, they were practically inedible. We passed this message on to the server, who said he would speak to the chef, but he never came back with any news. This should give you an idea of the level of service at this restaurant. Upon opening one of the cutleries wrapped in a napkin, we also found strands of hair also wrapped inside. When we showed this to the server, he just gave us a new one without any type of apology. I feel that service really makes or breaks a restaurant and no matter how good the food is(in this case, the food and service were a miss), if the service is not up to standard, i’m most likely never returning. i also don’t understand the décor or the servers that go around hawking food items at you. like dude, i already ordered and i don’t need you trying to sell me more dishes like i’m walking the streets of chinatown. save your money and go elsewhere.

A bit late to the review party — but certainly thrown off by the number of poor reviews. Figured I would just get lost in a sea of 5 star praise. Guess not. My take: a modern-esque little restaurant hidden under a Milk Bar. Is it a dinner spot? Meh, I wouldn’t say so. I stumbled in here with my wife while doing some window shopping in the neighborhood. As a fan of David Chang on ‘Mind of a Chef’ — I undoubtedly had the grace of a 5 yr old walking into FAO for the first time. There’s a unique system of ordering here that can spell trouble. Half of the items on the menu are rotated around the room on carts and presented to you one-by-one. Your job is to accept or reject. The problem is that it’s nearly impossible to say no. Everything sounds delicious and it almost feels impolite to say no. Plus — it’s right there. No waiting on the chef. Instant gratification is not just reserved for the internet. That was probably my one big complaint. Not to say it’s a negative trait, but it certainly makes it difficult to keep the bill low(spent over $ 120 on two for lunch). Now, on to the food. Let’s summarize: Ramen: Amazing. Pork Buns: Amazing. Seabass Ceviche w/Gooseberry: C’mon. Amazing. Even the beer selection was on point. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the fried chicken. It wasn’t bad — it’s just that everything else was SO much better. Oh well, put some Ssam sauce on it and move on.

«Momowhat??» that’s what my guy said when I told him this was the place I wanted to dine at. this Momofuku in Midtown was the closest to us so we went there for dinner with our friends. it’s the one with American plates.(the other ones r more Asian fusion.) I really was just looking forward to their yummy desserts(Milk Bar!) so I was overjoyed they sold the desserts in the restaurant also. Michael Chang is such a pioneer in the restaurant biz. his Momofuku(god, I love saying that name. so FUN.) restaurants r popping up all over Manhattan n have been embraced by all.(so when u opening one up on the west side Mike??) we got an early reservation for a weeknight just in case we couldn’t get in on the weekend. the outside of Momofuku Ma Pêche is plain on the exterior with their name n an emblem of a peach(momo means peach in Japanese.) on the building wall. when u walk in u notice that Momofuku Milk Bar(by Christina Tosi!) is right there. it’s a small space, but u can buy everything to go. the restaurant is actually below underground. it’s like a cool n modern basement space. it’s dim with a loungey feel. we got in pretty early so it wasn’t busy quite yet. we looked over the menu card where u put checkmarks in pen next to the items u want; like ordering dim sum. the food was on point. everything we ordered was delicious. the service was good. I wouldn’t say it was great. the later it was, the busier the restaurant got. sometimes it was hard to flag our waiter down. other than that, our experience was good n I would go back again to try other things on their menu. the things that other tables ordered all looked really yummy! Pork Bun(pork belly): I wasn’t that impressed with this. other restaurants have this also. it tasted a bit bland to me. the pork belly didn’t have much flavor plus there was only a small dollop of hoisin sauce. Lobster Roll: there were small pieces of chips on top of the lobster pieces. it added texture to the softness of the brioche. Country Fried Chicken: juicy n crispy! we ordered half a chicken only. they also have whole chicken. this was a great entrée. they had a habanero option too. Chef’s Special Seafood Dish: this was probably the dish of the night. we saw other tables order this so we got an order also. so if u c a Chef’s Special, don’t hold back. the entrée was big so it was enough for all four of us. dipping the bread into the soup was delicious! it was all mussels n shrimps underneath. Cereal Milk Soft-Serve w/Chocolate Chips: this is Milk Bar’s signature soft serve. the cereal milk flavor was on point! it looks like a small serving, but it’s actually just enough after a full meal. can’t wait to get this again next time!

We came here as a group of eight people in celebration of holiday. The reason I’m picking Ma Peche was that you could literally never go wrong with any single one of David Chang’s and there are always more up side potentials once you order the right thing! As second time comers, we picked the signature pork/brisket bun(even better with their Saam bar sauce; still outstanding without) and fried brussels sprouts(felt like being in heaven with the help of maple syrup). For big plates, fried chicken, pork chop and short ribs were among our choices. Though the chicken had a touch of crispy feeling from the outside, it seemed to be a little bit overcooked. My favorite of the day has been the pork chop — they marinated the pork so well that it completely absorbed the smell of kale — well done! We were too full to order dessert, yet who can say no to their signature cereal milk ice cream with corn flake on top?! Truffles were equally tasty! As a person who always puts flavor on top of presentation, I always pick Ma Peche as my to-go spot once I develop the rave. Actually, simply stating the word«Momofuku» is already making my mouth watery…

I recently had two stand out dining experiences in NYC that earned five stars, I mean really earned them, and Momofuku Ma Peche was the happiest surprise! Loaded down with our Black Friday Booty from Bloomies, we wandered in to the upstairs Ice cream shop and were pleased to find there were two restaurants inside the venue with sit down lunch. I mean, ice cream is all well and good, but LUNCH and ice cream is even better after a frenzied Black Friday Shopping Morning. We opted for the«fancier» of the two as described by the nicest host ever, and were taken down the stairs to Ma Peche. How to describe this? Dim Sum meets Hello Kitty on the food network in a trendy new club. We ordered small plates and large plates all designed to share and also took advantage of the Dim Sum cart when it came rolling by loaded high with cold seafood. We sampled the crab claw, the shrimp, and the oysters. Yum. For sharing, we split the Thai coconut shrimp, the Habanero Fired Chicken, and the Szechuan Pork Flatbread. There was much rejoicing. The stand out dish that floated up as a clear possible universal winner for BESTEVER was the Habanero fired chicken, 6 pieces or so, expertly cut, battered, season and fried served in a bucket. I have died and gone to heaven. Truly finger licking good. And dessert of course, was the truly remarkable cereal ice cream. Really amazing, Momofuku Ma Peche is certainly on my top 3 dining experiences in 2015! Thank you Momofuku for doing something so fresh and unique and wonderful!

I made a reservation here for brunch because I thought the concept was interesting. We were the first to arrive at 10am. I guess New Yorkers do not take brunch early. We were seated and given menus quickly. Guests started arriving soon after 10. It was not full by 11:30am in the slightest. The food was decent. I had has browns with bacon and eggs that were really good, but a little too greasy. The beau had a chorizo biscuit that was ok. I wanted to go here for the shared«dim sum style» plates that are delivered by a cart. We tried the: — Pork belly bun — Egg bun — Broccoli salad All of the food was mediocre at best. We were never presented with the beverage cart(mimosa, bloody mary, michelada) or the dessert cart. Our server was excellent. He deducted the amount of the entrees because they took so long to arrive. The coffee was ok. The atmosphere was playful yet classy. Overall this place is fine, but I wouldn’t stop here again.

I really need to research the name of that clown food critic who wrote up the virtues of the Habanero Fried Chicken as if he were hearing Beethoven’s Third Symphony for the first time. I would think Habanero peppers worldwide would be embarrassed to be associated with the lack of heat level in the dish. To be fair, the chicken was fried crisp, but I also felt that it didn’t have the contrast of a moist interior to duet with the crackling(though greasy) exterior. The braised lamb flatbread(with grilled peppers and onions, feta cheese) was competent thanks to the accompanying red pepper paste, though pretty messy to eat without a knife and fork, and I don’t particularly care for eating bread with a knife and fork, no matter what may be on it. For my money’s worth, the highlight was the cocktail, Mezcal Mule: smoky, fruity, refreshing, cool, livened up with cucumber and candied ginger. Then again, it’s always fun to drink at lunch during a weekday…
