The single star is because the salsa was good. We had a work event and decided to order tacos for the staff. we have ordered from here before and it was great. I think they might have a new owner. The total was $ 188 with tip for 6 people. For tacos! Oh well, it’s NYC after all. pricey but fine if its good… We ordered 24 tacos 2 days early and I’m pretty sure they were made 2 days early. We phoned to ask for a replacement as the food was not fresh and it was cold. The steak tacos were spoiled, the chicken looked boiled and was extra dry, the fish was like frozen fish sticks. the guacamole tasted like soap. They basically told us everything was fresh and there was nothing that could be done. They were too busy to deal with us. We asked to have the owner call us. He finally called and argued that everything was fine and we were wrong. We said four people tasted the steak and spit it out. After several minutes of argument he offered a discount. So… what were we supposed to eat? We finally convinced him to replace at least the steak tacos, and he decided to replaced them with ground beef. It took about forty minutes for them to bring them. We are 2 blocks away. They were equally disgusting. We were still in a taco mood so we ordered from somewhere else. MUCH better service and food.

A breeze more brisk than I expected hastened my walk to Greenwich Village’s Molcajete Taqueria. Once inside my eyes darted for a place to pick up my order. Considerately hung above a cash register, the sign«Order Here» provided ample guidance. Then she appeared like finding the right TV input. I never knew her name but I was sure her rich culinary heritage would yield authenticity and deliciousness. In other words she was not white. A brief hop back to the office and I open my recyclable container as Link opens a treasure chest. Three tacos soft as a plush blanket. Hand-decorated with diced onions, guacamole, and quarter-discs of radish so thin it curled. A pollo taco was chosen as my first. The meat was touted as «Free-Range Chicken» and of the adjective I have no doubt. Descended perhaps from pedigreed dinosaurs, I imagined my chickens, once alive, pecking at moist grass nuzzled by afternoon sunlight. Now dead, I appreciated the slow cooking technique used to convey an honest but elevated flavor. Next was a ground beef taco, which crackled with flavor atop my tongue, a chile marinade meeting my lips with all the expectations of a first kiss. If you place value in the four noble truths of buddhism, impermanence is the root of dissatisfaction, suffering, and anxiety. Well if Buddha ate my third taco«Let’s consider The Four Noble Truths of Barbacoa», is a thought Buddha may have thought. This meat was at times bittersweet — not in flavor, but in experience as it was my last taco. With a final chew I savored the tenderness and warmth of my time with this taco, and all tacos who once followed a path from the cradle of my hand to my tum tum. Until next time, Molcajete Taqueria. Your getting ONESTAR from me bc u forgot my napkins !!

favorite place for tacos(chicken and steak) lots of toppings tomatoes, cheese, avocado and more, plus the green sauce is to die for. Quick delivery for those that live nearby and very quaint cozy store front.

Delivery was 30 minutes late. Delivery guy was argumentative and didn’t bring everything that was included. The manager offered to send the missing items. Still doesn’t help the 15 people that I am hosting… Will not order from here again. The food is bland. To many other good Mexican places to order from. No service even though spent almost $ 250.

I love this place! Best Mexican food in the village. It’s a small spot but it’s never packed and the people are friendly. I had the cactus burrito bowl salad today and it was awesome! Very authentic and flavorful!

I thought the food was good, but expensive for what it is. It ended up being $ 9 for 2 tiny quesadillas with barely any cheese and chicken — no other toppings. It wasn’t bad tasting food, but I’m sure I could find a better deal somewhere else. The food did not fill me up. I got delivery so I cannot comment on the staff or locaton.

Horrible experience. We should have left when the waiter told us they didn’t have neither tub water nor ice for our drinks. But it was Halloween night and everything else was full, so we decided to stay. A couple of minutes later our drinks arrived, but without glasses. After negotiating with the waiter, he managed to generously bring us two glasses with ice(even though we were 4). The beer was not cold enough and the water was purified, not mineral. Yes, that plastic bottles that cost 50 cents. As to the forks, we received a mix of plastic and steel, but only for 3 persons… the fourth pair never came. The nachos were ok, but rather small. Later, the waiter mixed up our dishes and forgot all our basic requests(like extra guac or no black beans). Even in McDonalds you can get a better service! The food wasn’t that bad, but Chipotle is definitely better(and cheaper). Overall, this is probably the worst restaurant I’ve ever been in NYC. And I’m being generous calling it a «restaurant».

Ordered at 7:30pm. Estimated for 8:45 to 8:55pm. Called at 9:15 with no delivery in sight. Restaurant apologizes, says will check on delivery man and it will be there soon. Call restaurant close to 10pm. Restaurant says delivery man is right outside, 5 minutes away. I call restaurant at 10:15pm to cancel, restaurant says delivery man got lost and they«sincerely» apologize and will start new order and credit me. The food came close to 11pm. The food was horrible and looked old.(quesadilla and nachos) When I claimed the credit via Seamless, the restaurant denied me. Probably the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced through a restaurant. Also, Seamless refused to help me.

Update… The portions of protein seem to be shrinking a bit as do the veg or pineapple pieces in fillings. Having ordered out a few times now I can say that delivery can be inconsistent, to the extent of receiving an order meant for some one else, although my ticket was attached. Unfortunately, there are bad days for every one and perhaps my timing is just unique.

We just had a FANTASTIC lunch at the office. I had to organize a lunch for 30+ people on a budget and found these guys through . I was nervous about portion size, the meat, if it was going to be good etc etc. Fortunately– they rocked! Everything arrived on time, it was hot and fresh, and the portions were phenomenal! I thought people were going to leave hungry, but that was not an issue AND there are leftovers. The guacamole ran out pretty quickly which was a bummer but that was because it was so yummy! When ordering for a large group I would request extra toppings(ie guac, sour cream, and cheese). Smooth and successful office lunch. Highly recommend!

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. The movie gets sold out. The restaurant wait is too long. Two of your friends with the same name get drunk and fight over their name. You know, typical stuff. Recently was at a party that was suppose to have some grub to eat. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned, and we were left to get something to eat for ourselves. Looked up on my trusty Unilocal app to find something nearby to snack on. That led me here. We ordered up some fish tacos and a breaded chicken torta. Two of my favorites, and at a good price. Picked up real quick and brought it back to the party. The staff was really friendly and cool. My torta was great. The avocado slices were fresh and yummy. The fish tacos were a bit on the small size but hit the spot. The two sauces they provided were fantastic. I recommended it to several people at the party and sure enough they all hit it up afterwards. When we came back we ordered up some cervezas, which were a bit pricey for a small restaurant like this, at sat with friends while they ate. The only thing I didn’t care for was their guacamole. It was fresh, but lacked some spice. It was a bit bland. I’m glad I got to try some great Mexican food, discovered a new place with a chill staff, and enjoy a beer or two. Sometimes things don’t go as planned for the better.

When the Folly has no food, you make your way around the block to Molcajete where very delicious pescado tacos(that’s FISH for you non-spanish speakers) can be had for just $ 4.50 a piece. Yum yum!

Solid Carne Asada Torta but definitely pricey Mexican fare for $ 8.75(Cook Style: Medium-Rare) plus a pineapple Jarritos $ 2.25. Pickup was ready and their Belly app was down/off.

Wow, we were hoping to find a Mexi go-to in the neighbourhood and this is not it. We are used to the deliciousness of Downtown Taqueria in Jersey City and Downtown Bakery on 1st Ave, and this place does not come anywhere close. We had some incredible elote recently at Mesquite NYC in Queens, and were excited to try it here. At Molcajete, the corn doesn’t come grilled, but was microwaved. Worse, the corn tasted old and watery, had no sweetness. The cob was brownish and unappetizing. Because the corn itself was inedible, we didn’t really get to enjoy the dressing of mayo, Tajin and dried cheese — which is supposed to enhance the sweetness of the corn. We left this mostly uneaten.(Two corn cobs, each $ 3.75.) As for tacos($ 3.50 each), we tried carnitas, el pastor and barbacoa de res. All were just ok, and the el pastor only had one tiny cube of pineapple in it, about the size of my pinkie fingernail. It wasn’t classic el pastor cooked on a vertical rotisserie, but just regular pork meat drenched in some red sauce, vaguely spicy, but lacking flavour. Overall, the meats were just lacking any of that roasted meaty goodness. The red and green table sauces were lackluster, too. Skip this joint and make the trip to any of the places mentioned above.

These tacos get 5 Stars!!! The décor and all is eh… but the prices and flavor rocked my world! I loooooooved the Barbacoa and carnitas tacos. Delish! My lips are still burning from the fabulous home made hot sauce! I almost walked past this one but so glad I stopped to have a bite! A nice bite! I’ll be back… I wish this place was byob… but I don’t think those places exist anymore… or do they?

I ordered 3 cheese and chile tamales for lunch today. I have ordered from this establishment multiple times. The food is delicious, usually. Today I received 3 chicken tamales. I’m vegetarian. When I called to complain, they told me they were out of cheese, and sent chicken instead. No phone call, no excuse, and issued no refund. I had to contact grubhub myself. WTF

The meat are fully cooked, but no flavor, But with combination of Guac(that was included in there). Onions, Salsa, it made it flavorful. Also Ordered a small portion of Guac and chips $ 8.95. It taste Fresh, I added spicy salsa to get a kick in it. Overall is pretty good in the city. Now… Back to my Hungover…

Very legit and close to authentic Mexican as you can get in the area. Think of here as more of a lunch or casual semi-quick bite spot. It’s not a fancy place, but the ambiance is comfortable, food inexpensive and tastes spot-on. The green sauce has a nice kick, while the red sauce is very smokey. The guac was good(nice chunks of tomatoes and onions), but nothing amazing. The other dishes(such as soft tacos, enchilada drowned in cheese and sauce) will want you coming back for more tho! Throw away any image you might have of an empanada and order one from here.

The food here is awesome. I order all the time and usually get the Carne Asada Torta. The torta is packed with food and so satisfying. I also tried the fish tacos and sooooo good. Delivery is super quick. Never had an issue.

Ordered seamless from them, and had one of the the best Mexican plates i’ve found in NYC. The flavors in the Omelette Poblana were perfectly balanced, epazote, oaxacan rice, mushroom, chile sauce, rice, beans mmm! The Guacamole de la Casa was a minor let down /overpriced. I like a bit more lime in this dish too.
