Me and my friend got ripped off from this place. The owner was horrible and greedy. We asked her how much they cost since beginning but when we paid, the bills came out $ 30 and $ 45 more. She changed the price without telling us and the reason was our hair are too much to be charged for those prices! We didn’t think it was the right way!

Have gotten facial, massage, haircut and waxing done here. The owner Mint is friendly and helpful, and the masseuse Meje did an amazing job with my facial and massage. Mint certainly knows what she’s doing with hair… But even though the hair is clearly a well done haircut, she thinned it out and made it a little shorter than I wanted. That said, the only thing I wouldn’t repeat here is the waxing– it was straight up painful, and even though waxing is never a treat, I’ve been to places with more deft hands.

Had a facial done here and their service was very nice. Very professional and relaxing environment. I would come back and try a massage here one day.

Mint is such a lovely salon! The owner, Mint, is so friendly and sweet, and she has always done a great job cutting my curly hair. I’ve been there multiple times for nails, waxing, my toddler’s haircuts, and hair color/cut and have always had good experiences. Her prices are super reasonable, as well. Mint and her salon are such gems in our neighborhood!

My review is for the experience with whom I presume to be the business owner of the spa. When I first called to make an appointment I couldn’t get through for 2 days. I finally sent the business a message on Unilocal and they responded. I had an appointment scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving for a massage but was out of town. I called first thing in the morning to see if I could change the appointment to the next day. I left a voicemail asking them to please call me as soon as possible to let me know whether an appointment change was possible. I explained that I could still make the appointment but would prefer to change it if possible. When I received a return call, I simply expected a «Yes, we can accommodate you» or a «No, I am sorry but we can’t accommodate you.» By the way, I called around 9:00 a. m and received a call back after 10:00 for a 3:00 pm appointment. Anyway, I received an angry tirade from the owner. She began rambling on about how she is a business and how she had to pay the woman who was going to give me a massage and she was losing money on me($ 40 according to her). She said that I was the only appointment booked for the entire day but that the massage therapist was already there(??). She told me erroneously that my 3:00 appointment was for 2:00. She also told me that I could in fact come in the next day at 11:00(and also suggested the followng week but on a day I was working) but continued to go off on me about how I was affecting her business and how she would normally have to charge me for the change and how I should have called her the day before. Through this rant I tried to explain that the day before was a holiday — clearly my plans had changed and I didn’t expect the need to change the appointment prior to that. The person sitting next to me was in shock and asked«what’s wrong with her?» because she just kept yelling at me and could be heard loudly through the phone. Through the rant, I just kept asking, «So, can you accommodate the request?» because I couldn’t figure out whether she was saying no and just wanted to lecture and /or yell at me or whether she had no appointments available the next day. After all that, she told me I could come in the next day and called me «sweetheart.» Hmm, really professional and not at all odd. I had a groupon which I was intending on using and felt extremely uncomfortable thinking about going to this place of business. The owner was extraordinarily unprofessional, and I didn’t deserve to be spoken to in such a manner for simply asking a normal business question. Groupon refunded my money thankfully. I of course called back to cancel the newly made appointment right after speaking to Groupon. The minute I did the owner started in on me again. I canceled the appointment politely and hung up as fast as I could. I am truly shocked about the great reviews here on Unilocal but am glad that others have not experienced what I did.

I’ve been going to Mint for well over a year for my haircuts. Before then, I tended to lean more toward regular barber shops that were no frills and didn’t offer much in the way of ambiance(or reservations, for that matter). I only ever tell her in broad generalizations how I want my hair to be cut(«Kind of short» for the summer and«A little bit of length» for the other months), and that’s all she needs to do her thing. If I’m there early and Mint is with another client, I’m usually offered some kind of refreshment, and I always go for the ginger tea. Mint is sweet and personable and is passionate about her business! I’ll have to try the other services sometime.

Wonderful salon!!! I love it here. Mint is so helpful and takes her time. Her haircuts will last you 8 – 10 months. Great neighborhood spot, would highly recommend it!

After my Groupon disaster on Saturday(see my review for Nick’s Unisex), I was hoping the massage at Mint went OK. It was more than OK. It was incredible. Natalie(Nan) gave me a deep tissue and I almost couldn’t stand up when it was over. My arms, legs and neck all feel two inches longer and my voice was two octaves lower. She rubbed everything minus my nipples and my fatooch — legs, feet, face, scalp… it all got attention. I will 100% be back. Right now, there is a Groupon for the massage or massage + facial.(I bet they do amazing facials.) They were wonderful. I even told them about my disastrous hair appointment(and showed them my orange roots) and instead of pushing a service on me, they suggested I eat healthy protein and grow the chemicals out. Points for Mint — you just earned yourself a new hair client. I’ll be booking another massage AND a haircut soon.(And that facial sounds so nice… man, I might have to work some overtime! Totally worth it, though). Oh, and I should mention the place was clean and smelled nice and had a soothing atmosphere.

Bought a groupon today and went with me husband. BESTMASSAGEEVER — MYHUSBANDAGREES. Natalie massaged me and Yut massaged my husband. Natalie was thorough and her touch was just magic. We had delicious ginger tea and water after. The salon/spa looks very mom and pop but don’t let that fool you into thinking the massage isn’t up to par. I’ve paid a lot more in the city for massages that were okay but ultimately a waste of time. Def coming back!

When I first walked in, I was skeptic about the place as the ambiance was not what I had expected. However to my surprise, the massage was great! The male masseuse stretched and massaged all the right places. He was very professional and kind. The service is definitely a 5 star, but I gave a rating of 4 stars due to the cosmetic of the store. Other than that, I would highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a good massage. Not those typical cookie cutter massage service where they perform the same ineffective massage moves.

Word of advice take the deep tissue massage from the man. He is great! Also facial is awesome and she gave me tips for my face. I definitely recommend locals or anyone to come here! At the end of my service they gave me ginger tea and it was really good for a person who is picky!

I got a Groupon for a massage and facial here and it was so great! I was seen right on time, the massage and facial were amazing, and the staff were all super friendly and took their time with me rather than rushing me out the door– even give you tea afterward! I was also given a lot of advice about taking care of my skin and staff didn’t try to push you to buy any products. I would recommend this to anyone and will definitely be returning!

I ended up here after my girl left her salon in the city, hadn’t found a new one, and I couldn’t wait any longer for her to find a new one. I loved how close this was to my house, so I just popped in after work. That us probably the only good thing about this place. The shampoo was nothing great. No head massage at all. As for the cut, I asked for 3 – 4 inches. It was more like 7 that came off. I even told Mint before she started cutting, I hate when my hair is short because it gets frizzy and wide. Mint also used thinning sheers without asking me. I always avoid thinning sheers, but they were used on my hair here for the first time in 10 years. She started in thw back, so I didn’t know what was going on until she got to the side, and I wasn’t going to stop her at that point. When styling my hair at the end, she couldn’t duplicate on my right side, the curl/wave she did on the left side of my head. So she straightened my hair instead, trying to play it off like she really wanted to use her fancy flat iron on me. *eye roll* Girl, please. In the end, I ended up paying $ 150, and I was absolutely shocked. I understand I have a lot of hair, but there really was nothing special about this. The layers are even a bit off/choppy. The $ 150 was her fee for long hair, and I know I will usually pay more for my mane of hair. BUT, I didn’t even pay $ 150 for my girl in the city who did a MUCH better cut. I paid $ 100 in the city for their«long hair» price, and she even discussed the higher pricing with me before charging. Not Mint, they just charged away. I will honestly never go back. So disappointed with the entire experience. This is a salon in Astoria and isn’t branded either. They have no business charging city prices for mediocre haircuts. Phew! Rant done. Sorry folks, but I feel it’s my duty to give a full recap.

I had a massage here from Yuto and it was excellent. He is very professional and he can find all your problamatic muscles and aches. The owner lady was very polite and helpful. Making an appointment was easy. Street parking worked for me & I found a spot in front of the joint. I will go back.

I went into Mint after purchasing a Groupon for a 1 hour massage. They booked me the same day, no problem. I got a massage from Yuto, and he was honestly amazing. One of the best massages I have ever gotten. To top it off, he was so polite and asked me specific questions about my body and my pain. I also got some tea at the end of the massage. Highly recommend! Ask for Yuto. You won’t be disappointed!

I used to go to Queens Beauty Parlor to get my hair cut, and they were the only place I trusted, but then mysteriously they no longer have anyone available to cut hair(for months on end?) Anyway… cue need for new person to chop my hair! Unilocal quickly directed me to Mint, and a quick phone call at 6pm on a Sunday night had me an appointment that evening for a cut. As soon as I walked in I felt like the vibe of the place was very relaxing, definitely spa-like. Everyone is very zen and attentive. They took my coat and bag and hung them up. The lady who washed my hair was fantastic. She gave me a neck massage as well as the best head-massage-slash-wash EVER. It was like 20 minutes of bliss. Then I got in the chair to start the cut and was served a glass of water with a coaster. It was very sweet. Then the sweetest lady complimented my curly hair and asked what I was looking for. I showed her a photo and she consulted with me briefly on the differences between the model’s hair and my own, and the techniques she could use to still help me get that look. It was really great! She also gave me a bunch of tips on how to take better care of my hair(for example, I use deep conditioner twice a week and she said this floods the scalp and can lead to hair loss… eek! So now I know not to do that!) The cut turned out wonderful, and my hair is incredibly curly and not an easy task at all. After the cut was complete, I even got a complimentary shoulder massage! Apparently my shoulders were really tight, and I never realized it until post-massage but I feel about a million times better now! I think in the future I might go for a whole spa day kind of thing. They also do manicures/pedicures, eyebrow threading/waxing, and all hair-related services. All in all I paid about $ 50 for wash, cut, style, refreshments, and massage. Not bad! I will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

Massage by Yutto!!! AMAZING so amazing that I brought my husband here and he also got a relaxing massage by Yutto. I usually get deep tissue massage because I have a chronic neck pain and he took a very good time helping me relax my knot on my shoulder. Some part was painful but that I am used to that to get relax my tight knot I need that painful deep tissue massage. I felt so relaxed and lighter on my shoulder after the massage. He used the special minty oil he brought form his back home country, which really worked so well on my shoulder. He will tell you what I need to do and don’t do any massage for 10 – 14 days. They gave me a relaxing tea afterward. I cannot wait to go back there again and relaxed and get rid of my neck pain!
