Absolutely one of friendliest, cleanest, and overall delicious places in the LES that you can find. I recently spent a week in the area for the fringe festival and this was the spot that my friends and I would always hang out in. The lower east side has an awesome selection of bar/restaurants to choose from. I enjoyed hanging out in the dives, sandwich shops, overpriced oyster bars, and pizza joints. But this place was just the right mix of class, awesome food, and drinks that kept us coming back. Large, well priced sangria pitchers are the way to go here. Share one with a friend. The plantain chips are some of the best I’ve had. The empanadas are banging also. The owner was very friendly and the entire staff was more than welcoming each night we were here. Next time I’m back in the area, I’m definitely coming back here.

Empanadas chicken-wonton skin, filling sparse. Paellas– the chicken tasted spoiled, the clam had a hair in it, it was insanely greasy. The rice stuck to the pan(my friend insists this is normal… Maybe in Joliet Illinois). Both versions that were pretty nasty. Only one Unilocal coupon per table. So spare your check ins to only one person. The waitress was kind of nice until we wanted to use our Unilocal coupon. She didn’t apply to the receipt and then went back to «correct it.» But then she brought us the same receipt. Bwaha.

Good sangria at a fair price. Service was awful. Chicken was very boring. I really don’t recommend coming here to anyone.

I have been here a couple of times. It is small, and great for a date night! Yes, the food does take some time BUT it really is delicious. In the summer, they have fresh coconuts that they will serve whole(yes, a giant coconut) with rum inside. Simple and yummy! The sangria is eh. I’ve had better. The owner and his wife are both very sweet. All in all, a delightful little restaurant with good bites!

Good sangria, but lack of lamb chops… or rather no lamb chops. This place ran out of their best dish @ 7pm on a saturday?! dag… The music is good, not too uppity and not too low. Keep the head nodding. The empandas or average at best and the guacamole isn’t too exciting. It comes with plantain chips but no tomato/salsa sauce which is a normal. The lamb chops is the reason I came here, and they didn’t haven them this day… so I had to order stuff I wasn’t really in the mood for and it turned out to be nothing to brag about. 3 stars for sangria and good spanish music.

I came here on a Thursday night with a group of 4 people. The restaurant was very quiet. I think we were the only group. The owner greeted us and was nice. The wife took our order. The food came out in about 25 minutes. The décor was very dark and there were dim lights– romantic vibe. This is what we ordered: Sangria– one pitcher– It was really good. Lamb Chops with Cumin Mash Potato– The lamb chops were very tender and this was the best dish out of all of them. Guacamole with Mariquitas– It was good but nothing out of this world. It was very standard with the usually pico de gallo with avocado. Steak with potatoes– This was really delicious. I really like the flavor and how well reasoned the potatoes were. Paella– The rice was okay. It was not flavorful and there were clams and mussels there. I would skip this. It wasn’t anything special.

Great food and the pitcher of sangria was good and for 28 $ was enough for about 8 full glasses. The guac was great with plantain chips but the food arrived pretty late and they changed the channel of the hockey game on us but the food made up for it so I would still come back

After eating at this restaurant(or rather — not eating — more about that below) I can genuinely say I have had my worst nyc meal EVER. We were looking for a quieter place to eat because my father is hearing impaired. We nicely asked the waiter if he’d be willing to turn down the music… he said no problem. It wasn’t a problem until we sat and the music came blasting back. I politely asked if they could keep it down(mind you, no one else was there) and the kitchen staff was furious. They wanted the music loud. I said that’s fine we can go elsewhere and they said no no stay. So we did and boy were we sorry. We tried to order the guacamole — they were all out. Out of guacamole on a Friday night at 8:30pm? Huh? We tried to order several other items — they were out of those too. The waiter explaIned they were short on supplies due to Memorial Day — one week prior. What land is this that an event a week ago has wiped out all the food? Isn’t this a restaurant? We ordered and it was one mistake after another — my mother’s supposed vegetarian paella had huge chunks of sausage in it, the steak didn’t arrive for an hour and a half, they gave us half the order of empanadas claiming the order didn’t fit on the plates they had. I ordered a salad with a side of beans and when it arrived I was told they didn’t have beans! I had also added grilled chicken for $ 5 and received maybe a quarter of a breast of chicken. I sent it back and didn’t get a new salad for over an hour. The table next to us never even got their main dishes! We finally had enough and complained to the manager, who, incidentally, was completely trashed. He finally agreed to give us the meal for free, which was nice but I honestly believe he had no idea where he was. I still hadn’t gotten my salad and ended up eating a Kind bar from My purse. The salad I did get was disgusting, soggy and the chicken was chewy and practically inedible. We left and swore to a) never go back, and b) to write a scathing Unilocal review. Worst restaurant ever. Ever!

First of all. The food is NOT good. And second of all, the service SUCKS. I think there was one person waiting the whole place on a Friday night with one person cooking in teh kitchen. It was pathetic. More pathetic. 3 people at our table ordered an 8oz steak. And they ALL came out difference sizes. If you’re going to say it’s an 8oz steak. Then … measure it. I swear one of my friends got a 4 oz piece, another friend had an 6oz, and another friend had like a 10oz. It didn’t make any friggin sense. I mean we waited like ANHOUR before we saw any food come. And we had people whose entrees came before some of our appetizers came. If I wasn’t there for a friend’s birthday party I would have just gotten up and left on any regular evening. And honestly. There was NOREASON this should have taken so long. We were the ONLY table there that night(and, rightfully so). For dessert you can choose flan or soapy tasting cupcake. Couldn’t even bring myself to eat it. These people need to put their«talents» elsewhere or actually go and find some.

What a great experience. Went in with some friends after a brunch party at the DL. The place wasn’t too crowded so we got sat right away. We ordered a pitcher of the sangria and then some empanadas, guacamole, and a lomo salteado. let’s say that all the food was impeccably made. Lots of flavors, great service, and the chef came over to talk to us about the food which was a nice touch. Very nice time. Thanks guys and LOTS of luck! :)

how is it that this place was EMPTY on a Thursday night??? The food is A B S O L U T E L Y amazing. We had the Paella, Entrana and the chicken. All were unbelievably good and well off for the price tag. The customer service was also great. Wonderful and gastronomically satisfying spot! Go.

What a great restaurant! Totally reasonably priced and in a great location. The huac was excellent, which is so rare in New York. Honestly, I was very impressed. The empanadas were also great. I highly recommend this place and will hopefully be back soon!

The food was fine but the fact that this place is 4 ½ stars is totally misleading. If you read the other reviews. Most of the 5 star reviews are by people with less than 10 reviews. We went on a Friday night and for most of the evening, we were the only table. A max of 3 tables at one point. Even with very few tables, the server was rarely seen. It’s not that he wasn’t trying at times. He was very nice and did try to make sure we were happy with our food, but after checking on us once once he served us our food, he was no where to be found. Took us a while to pay the bill. The best dish was the steak and everything else was good but not amazing. The highly recommended Paella was very salty. The prices were reasonable but again, I would not be going back anytime soon. There are better places in the city.

Mi casa es Su Casa, I do feel like i’m home! and also a Hidden Gem in the LES Super Friendly Staff and Chef(Jairo). From Tapas, to Paella, To Carnivore meats. EVERYTHING what I had was Really Tasty and Delightful. Décor is dimmed lights with open kitchen. My Favorite Dish: Mini Empanadas Green Plantains with Guacamole Skirt steak was DELISCH(I recommend). PAELLA Marinera And if you have space for dessert I recommend the Tres Leches Cupcake(Home made by the Chef’s Wife). This place is a good spot for a large group and able to do family style dishes. PS… Check on their facebook when Chef Jairo will have a special night which he serves Carnivore meats that you will EVER have.

Ambiance is great Food decoration is great Bathroom décor is amazing! Waitress/Waiters assistance is great, but can be improved. The waiters/waitress lack of some common sense because we ordered the special dish which was a BBQ combo platter she forgot to provide a meat cutting knife. In addition, we ordered Paella Valenciana, it lacked Saffron, and lemon The food is ok, just like anywhere else. Nothing special nor a distinctive flavor that would make you come back craving for this place! But, it’s a great place to come to enjoy the combination of ambiance and food!

Was here on a Thursday night with a somewhat large party and I was surprised that there was so much seating available. Great décor and atmosphere. It is run by an Asian couple, but they are from Panama and Ecuador and speak fluent Spanish. The food seemed pretty authentic. We ordered 5 small plates and 4 entrees to split. The food itself was more upscale than we expected. And I must say it was all very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the skirt steak and the empanadas. We wanted to try the plantain chips and guacamole, but they ran out for the day. Prices were not dirt cheap, but for the level of food we got we were all very pleased. They even gave us a free flan dessert and the chef came out to see us at the end of our meal.

What a wonderful establishment! The atmosphere was cozy and the couple that owns/runs it was so personable. We were a party of 10 celebrating a birthday, coming from a nearby bar with empty stomachs on a Friday night. The bar we were at was giving us many issues that deviated from the original contract. We were driven here due to the bar’s kitchen closure. We arrived right before closing and they were so kind to accommodate us! We were not rushed and the kitchen really did well in getting all our food out at the same time not too long after we ordered. We delayed their closing by quite a bit, but we never would have known it for they did not indicate in any way that we needed to wrap up. I am grateful for that, considering we didn’t want to make the night any more stressful than it already was for the birthday boy. Their pitchers of sangria were the BEST! It was not at all diluted, was made with unique fruits, and complemented the food so well. They were out of a few items on their menu(chicken and rice, catch of the day) by this time, which I take as a sign to their dedication of only providing the freshest ingredients. The food was delicious and I especially love the slight Asian flair. I only ordered an appetizer and a side(mushrooms = delicious!), of which the portions were perfect(not too small, not overwhelmingly large). I was told their lamb chops over rice(risotto style = love!) was tasty, pork chops not too dry, yet filling(coming from a big eater), skirt steak was cooked perfectly with great flavor, and their vegetables side was surprisingly good(coming from a meat aficionado). I will definitely be coming back soon to sample more of their modest menu. I love that they work to perfect the dishes they are good at instead of offering mediocre versions of every Latin American food you can think of. I am so glad the night was saved by great food to complement the great company and offset the disappointment of the aforementioned bar.

You would never notice it but this place is the best Spanish food. Nice little spot great atmosphere. The mofongo is on point. Looking for some home comfort get the beef stew again. On point! By far best Spanish food in jersey city family oriented and staff that makes you feel like family. Plus it’s byob! So if your in the mood for some authentic Puerto Rican food and a an awesome date spot too! Well this is the spot to go!

My friend and I stopped here late one night for a quick drink. We saw they had sangria so we wanted to have one drink each to toast a special occasion. It is a small, yet very cute place! The whole front has folding doors so you practically feel like you’re outside, which is very nice. The ambiance is very laid back and dim. We got: a glass of red sangria each, guacamole with plantain chips, and chorizo(we split both dishes). The guacamole was good(although I like spice, and it wasn’t on the spicy side at all). The chorizo on the other hand was PHENOMENAL. Definitely a must, and is enough to bring me back to that place! There were three kinds of sausage, with two fresh dipping sauces(made of fresh veggies) and the whole dish came sizzling to our table! It was also great that they let us in even as the kitchen was about to close and still let us order! I would definitely recommend this for a nice date night or a catch up date with a buddy. I don’t think it’s good for large groups, but for cozy sit down it’s perfect! Most definitely get the Chorizo! P. S. — for what we got, and for its location, this place was pretty reasonably affordable as well, which was a nice surprise!
