Grew up in this place! Must say I’m Italian originally from Rome. This place hits all the Italian culinary spots, you can’t go wrong. Pizza is amazing, Appetizers are fresh and delicious. :) love this place

Mezzaluna is our family’s favorite restaurant. We highly highly recommend it. We have been going there for over 30 years. We keep going back because of the consistency in the quality of food, made with the top ingredients. Their pizza in unparalleled and their Tiramisu is the best one we have ever had anywhere in the world. Our kids have been going since they were born and now go out with their friends. Anytime we have family members who come from overseas we take them to Mezzaluna and they love the food and the ambiance. They wish they lived in New York to go every week. The best part is that postmates delivers their food to your home. Aldo the owner is your classical gentleman from Milano who is meticulous to every detail. Service is fantastic! You should definitely try it, you will not want to leave it.

4 stars if not for the price. Good food. Fast, friendly and attentive service. I highly recommend the focaccia bread as an appetizer — warm flat bread sprinkled with seasoning and olive oil. Lasagna bolognese special is very good. The only downside is it can be a little pricey for traditional Italian.

Pretty basic Italian food. Packed place– we went around 7pm on a Tuesday and all the seats were filled. Liked the food, prices were kind of crazy. $ 17 – 20 for an appetizer-like salad. Didn’t realize going into it that it would be so expensive. Wine was $ 12+ for a glass of red or white. Not sure if I would go back– service was good; however I think there may be some less expensive Italian spots right nearby.

Started with Brussel Sprout(special) salad with parmesan cheese which was delicious. I asked for chicken parm off the menu and they happily made it for me. Nice thin pounded cutlet, melted motz red sauce was good(no pasta came with it). Lemon biscuit cookies for dessert. The ambience is a little cramped they packed the tables in there. Service was very fast and friendly. I would definitely go back. We got there at 6:30 pm to beat the rush on a thursday. By 7 pm all tables were full. Good spot.

BESTPROSCIUTTOINNYC — with melon or figs, or burrata, it’s divine. Salads & Pastas are ALL far above average, very fresh and deliciously addictive. I love their Contadina salad; greens with pear, walnuts & truffle cheese. Their branzino baked in the wood oven is out of this world; soft, tasty & delicious. Pizzas are thin crusted and great. The iced tea is amazing. Tables are very tight but my real complaint is that they regularly turn up the volume of their music so you have to shout at your friends. They do turn it down if asked, but only briefly.

This is our go to spot for weekly dinner out with our toddler. They are very accommodating with children. The food is great, not excellent, but very good. We love the salads, pizzas, and a few of the pastas. Waitstaff is amazing too. Major downside is it is pricey; I leave feeling like it wasn’t quite worth it. But, we always return!

Dropped into Mezzaluna for lunch yesterday… overall it was just okay for us. Ambiance is a big problem because tables are SOCLOSE together you can’t move. The claustrophobic atmosphere didn’t exactly lend to a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant is also very noisy so conversation can be challenging. Service is just okay. Our server didn’t come to our table for a good ten minutes and when he finally did he wasn’t friendly in the least. Maybe he’s just overworked? Food was mixed: – Initially I ordered the halibut special but was told 5 minutes later that they were sold out. Had the shrimp salad instead which was quite tasty but ridiculously small for $ 21. – Daughter had the funghi pizza which she loved. I can attest to the fact that the crusts were excellent. – Husband had the pollanca salad and finished the whole bowl. Was it worth $ 19? Not really. – Complimentary bread basket wasn’t great as the bread was a bit dry and cold. Mezzaluna seems to be popular in the neighborhood, as evidenced by the fact most customers knew the staff by name. It would have been nice to have been welcomed as warmly as other diners but we really weren’t. Based on yesterday’s experience it’s doubtful we’ll return.

This upper east side gem has quality Italian food. Everything is delicious, especially the polanca salad. The iced tea is amazing. Always an enjoyable experience at mezzaluna. I love going there for lunch or dinner. It’s small and intimate and the waiters are so nice!

GOHEREFORTHEVERYBESTITALIANFOODINNYC!!! This place is honestly amazing! I met a few friends for lunch and it looked like a smaller quaint restaurant so I wasn’t expecting to have the BESTITALIANFOODEVER! Everything they brought out was beyond delicious. My husband is Italian and doesn’t give any Italian food a thumbs up except for this one and he doesn’t even like sweets but he went in on the Tiramisu! What can I say eat here eat here eat here!!! AMAZING, DELICIOUS, THEBEST! I sound like I own the place but I am just so happy to find a great Italian restaurant! YAY!!!

This is an upper east side institution. The pizza is the best in the city and the ice tea is incredibly tasty. This restaurant is the first of its kind… if the wait is too long, you can always go to JG melons!

Food is good but there’s lots of good Italian in the city. Problem with this place is its almost impossible to dine in. Tables are so close together that two people had to get up so our party could reach our table in the back. The chair behind you is so close the waiter can’t step between, he had to pass dishes across to the one person at the table he could reach. Because tables are right on top of each other, you can hear the person seated at the next table much clearer than your friend at the same table. Lastly, the food is very overpriced: 3 of us were eating late after a cocktail party so we got one pizza and salad to share plus two beers and 3 sodas. Total was $ 80 w tip. Ouch!

The food at mezzaluna is great! The food is awsome and the service is nice. I would recommend a nice glass of lemonade and a pizza and a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce and that’s if your the person who likes filling meals this is the place. And the scenery is cool they have masks and a brick oven, and a leval above ground but not to if you like food and filling food this is the place to go!

Very good restaurant with nice pizzas and deserts. Nicely located. Only caveat is the service that could be better italian speaking waiters making jokes on clients in the restaurant… Not ideal!

It is a small restaurant and very tight seating. The service staff were only ok as it was impossible to hear them in the loud surroundings. For food we had a salad and fettucine with mushroom and pumpkin. It was pretty good. but not great. Personally. im not coming back. but its worth trying.

Excellent little neighborhood gem. We are leaving the UES, but I would trek back here for the food. Very reasonably priced dishes and wine, small and cozy with EXCELLENT service. Most recently we shared the pizza and the black shrimp pasta. Pasta is al dente(very much Italian style), and the pizza is thin crust authentic Italian pizza with a little touch of salty crispy crust. Would definitely come back here again and again and would recommend it to others.

Not for those who are precious about an occasional dirty plate or not-so-occasional collisions between your barstool and staff in this tiny Italian restaurant, but definitely for those who love speedily cooked and delicious veal meatballs, sausage-and-kale pasta, or salad with grilled calamari(you have to ask for it!) with a glass of hearty super tuscan.

mezzaluna is definitely my favorite place on the upper east side when i’m in the mood for some italian. the pizza is literally amazing, melt-in-your-mouth, and you almost have to stop yourself and ask«wait, am i naples right now?» i recommend you order the pizza with sausage. tastes incredible. they also have hot oil at the restaurant that you can add to your pizza to give it a kick, it looks like olive oil but is a little spicy. aside from the pizza, the pastas are also amazing and creatively made. if you’re in the mood for a pasta with tomato sauce, the penne bisanzio(i think that’s who you spell it– penne with tomato, basil & mozzarella) is definitely amazing and not your typical pasta. the sauce here is amazing and not too heavy. but i really suggest the tagllerine alla cocaria pasta, the one made with the peas, provolone proscuittio etc. it is the tastiest pasta dish in the menu in my opinion and never disappoints! the appetizers are also great. i really love the bresoaola which is cured, dried beef. it’s amazing with a little lemon & salt. the veal meatballs, a more recent addition, are also melt in your mouth good! as for their salads, if I’m in the mood for that, which i rarely am(pizza or pasta and a yummy appetizer are my go tos here) i will get the pollanca salad but i replace the chicken with the grilled shrimp. the grilled shrimp here is excellent, and in the summer/spring seasons they do a grilled shrimp dish with tomato, mango, avocados and hearts of palm which is ADDICTING and i order it all the time when i come. the pollanca salad has friseè, apple, raisins, avocado, celery, tomato, fennel and a delicious and light lemon vinaigrette. it originally comes with organic chicken, but like i said, try the grilled shrimp with it! oh and two more things: the CARPACCIOS. i sometimes order these as an appetizer to go with my pasta/pizza and i am always pleased with the result. my favorite one to order is the one with avocado and hearts of palm. it goes great with balsamic vinegar SERIOUSLYCOMEHEREIFYOUWANTSOMEAMAZING, AUTHENTICITALIANCUISINE!!! One of my favorite upper east side neighborhood dinner spots. Remember the Seinfeld episode when Elaine asked the diner for a «big salad» in a «big bowl»? Mezzaluna delivers on that(but doesn’t unfortunately actually deliver to your apartment). Salads here are big, creative and tasty. Also particularly good are the grilled calamari and the pastas. Best to go on a weeknight — this place is crushed between 6 and 9pm on the weekends.

Horrible! Lets start from the very beginning. We walk in and are seated by a waiter with an attitude who doesn’t even let us know he put the specials menu on the table. We decide what to order carpaccio and grilled calamari salad. We are quickly told no calamari salad, fine. We order a pasta dish for a second appetizer. The waiter does not write down anything we order and that’s where we start to get concerned. The beef arrives without incident but as we sit with the dirty dish and empty wine glasses we are wondering where the hell our waiter went. About ten minutes after sitting with an empty dish the owner(I guess possibly manager) comes over to ask how we want out main course served. But what about the pasta course we ordered?! We decided to let the pasta slide as my boyfriends Branzino comes out. Then the owner/manager asks if we are sharing it, when I responded that I ordered salmon, he put his hands is the air and with a nasty attitude says«I don’t know anything that’s going on.» Then why are you serving me food if you don’t know what I ordered? As my boyfriend starts to put his fork into his dish I see something funny and reach into his dish. I pull out a pepper with a sunkist sticker still attached, meaning the pepper wasn’t washed thoroughly or at all. We told he manager because our waiter was MIA. At this point we were so disgusted with the service and with the sticker cooked in our food we just asked for the check for our wine and appetizer, which I think as an apology for crap service and serving us an inedible, unsanitary dish, I think they should have waived… but they did not. I think they actually thought we were going to continue eating there. This place is over priced, stuffy and seriously gross take your money elsewhere, you won’t be sorry.
