The sign says Luna now. I come here often. Started when I lived around the corner from the shop and still, even after I have moved to Brooklyn. Here’s why… They aren’t the most social or friendliest bunch but they are cordial, consistent and quick. You pay before you start, primarily because folks have skipped out on the bill before. I hear some chicks have left with rollers still in their hat claiming to go to the ATM You come in, pay, get washed immediately and then set. There are 2 girls to blow dry and both are excellent. In 1.5 hours you have a fab blowout and leave without a dent in your wallet.

Visited and got in and out in a reasonable amount of time, great price and fabulous blow out. Will definitely go again.

I’ve been going to Maritza’s for 7 years. The best Dominican Salon in the city by far. Supermodel Liya Kebede still goes weekly.

I’ve been going here for the last 5 years and I absolutely love Rubia, she’s sweet, hardworking and puts the needs of her customers first, unfortunately she is no longer with the salon so I won’t be returning to Maritza’s, :(but I found Rubia again, can’t reveal her location but she was the only reason I patronized the business.

Update — I’ve gone to this salon multiple times since my last review and have tried 2 others. I must say this salon actually does the best work. They get my hair über straight(even the lil sideburn hairs). For me the price has consistently been the same every visit, 45.00 because I always get a deep conditioner. It does cost more than any other salon I’ve been to but this salon also produces the best final result. They have always been friendly to me and ask me do I prefer 2 or 3 washes. It is now a week past my last visit to the shop and my hair is still fabulous. My only gripe is that this place is in Harlem and I cant find anywhere closer to my NJ residence or BK job :-(

Im not sure if they were mad at me, my hair, or life in general but everyone in the salon had a bad attitude during my last visit to Maritza’s and the woman at the counter attempted to charge me an extra $ 3 just for the heck of it. I think the reason why you have to pay in advance is because there’s a good chance that customers would leave(or have left) in the middle of being serviced. And if you have natural hair, avoid this salon or expect to be penalized for it.

I found my new hair salon! I came here last Sunday for a fab deep conditioner & blowout for $ 20(the price increases with length). I had been hearing about this place for the last year because they were featured in Vogue – they did not disappoint and why shouldn’t I try the same place as super models like Liya Kebede? I was out within an hour and a half – just in time to meet my girls for brunch on a Sunday morning. I couldn’t ask for more! They also take credit cards which a great surprise, since most Dominican salons are cash only. #teamblowout
