I bought a Gilt City deal for a mani/pedi and Vivian and Marize did an amazing job. I saw good reviews for the salon but they both exceeded my expectations. They have excellent attention to detail, spend a lot of time on your nails and have a warm, friendly attitude. I would definitely come back to see them.

Maria Bonita has excellent professionals! Ricardo, the hair dresser, is amazing! Most all«manicure» girls are really great and do it perfectly, they are all very friendly and polite! Unfortunately there is a big big BUT in this place: anything is disposable! You pay $ 27 for a mani and they don´t have it exclusively for you! All the tools are being used during the long hours and even the sterilization machines are far away from being a good, decent one! They are also in a need of new nail colors. I am still going there, until I have a better cleaner place but I take my own tools and colors with me. Besides that, there is always a confusion about your appointment which annoys me a lot!

I’ve had my hair done here many times. I started out with the Velaterapia(make sure you do it like 3 times so you get the full benefit) and have gotten color and cuts by Ricardo. He’s awesome and cares about hair health and what works on you. I enjoy watching all the stylist work masterpieces. I also enjoyed a manicure. The staff are very polite and welcoming.

This was my second appoint through BeautyPass BB and my first at Maria Bonita Salon and Spa. My feelings are a bit mixed. I really liked my blowout and the body stayed in my hair very well. On the other hand, they called me to push my appointment back 30 minutes, and then took me an additional 15 minutes late. I booked my appointment only a few hours before hand through an app that assigns to a random salon, so it seems hard to believe that when they confirmed they didn’t know about the delay. The salon also felt slightly dirty. The sink next to me had not been washed and looking at it made me queasy with all the hair. Lastly, it may have been because I was the only customer there, but all the staff was constantly speaking in Portuguese and only giving me basic directions in English, made me feel a little out of place.

I purchased a coupon for a mani pedi through Gilt. The people at the salon were nice and very hospitable. I am happy with the actual service provide and the way my mani/pedi looks. However, the salon is a bit run down and not sparkling clean. There is hair all over the floor(it’s a hair salon), the white tiles are dingy, the cushions are worn and the sink has a film on it. They only had one fan to dry the nails, which they moved from my feet to my hands. I was kept waiting for 20 mins even though I had made an appointment. And they ran out of paraffin which was part of my service. \ I wouldn’t go back.

I started going there two years ago for a bikini wax and have been going there ever since! You should specifically ask for Maria when booking the appointment. The experience is as painless and quick as possible!

My first time at this salon. I randomly came across Rogelio on social media and am so happy that I did! He spent a lot of time talking to me prior to cutting my hair and made me feel comfortable about making a change to my hair! He was honest about what would and would not look good for my hair type. Will definitely use him again for hair cuts!

I literally have no words for how amazing this salon is! I came in with botched hair, and I mean it was really really terrible, from another salon, with an appointment with Rogerio for a color correction. I told him that I wanted just one color, blond, because the last time I did balayage and highlights the woman messed up my hair and I didn’t want anymore damage. While listening to what I wanted, Rogerio made suggestions of his own and we came to an agreement of blond balayage, but this time done the right way. I was so anxious the entire time but Rogerio reassured me that everything was going to be okay, and it was! The end result is SO beautiful, when I saw my hair go from a disgusting, ugly mess to beautiful blond princess hair, I almost cried. Not only is the color beautiful, but my hair feels so smooth and silky after he deep conditioned and trimmed it. Rogerio is amazing at what he does and he is the best stylist I’ve ever gone to. 100% recommend to anyone. The salon itself was really awesome too, they made me tea, gave me magazines to read(since the process took 5+ hours), and let me charge my phone while I waited. The other stylists also gave me compliments when I was done, making me feel so beautiful. 100% recommend this salon. Never going anywhere else

I learned of the Maria Bonita Salon and Spa through the Intel pop up when they had a curls and braids bar session. I decided on braids and the person helped me create a hairstyle with multiple braids. She was very nice.

I’eve always gone there since Carmen is really good and the price was fair(47 $ for a pretty quick haircut(20min)) for a man haircut. Went today and was asked 57 $ for the same haircut. As I asked whether there was no mistake, the lady told me «yes we increased our prices after 4 years». Ok, done. It was my last time. I’m not going to pay 57 $ buck for the easiest man haircut on earth. Thanks.

I am not the kind of person that complains on Unilocal.but this experience has been a big disappointment, so I need to let it out. First, I did see some negative reviews, of people complaining about the attitude and the fact that if you are not brazilian, then the service is not as good. Well, I am Brazilian, but am very disappointed, specially because I’ve heard great things before going to Maria Bonita, and wanted to give it a try. Maybe because it was on a Sunday, but the place felt a little dirty, and the receptionist would barely do her job(there was another client all the time yelling this receptionist’s name, such a joy). Also, the ac barely worked(picture yourself buried in layers of cloth for your highlights, and no air circulation). They barely offered me water, and the hairdresser barely asked me what I wanted for my hair. I got a haircut and highlights, and the result is way more dramatic than I had asked, it feels like they didn’t even wanted to listen to my opinion. Towards the haircut, some other clients came in, and everything just became so rushed that I felt bad! My mother owned a Salon in Brazil for many years, and I have never seen such thing… Now I just want to let my hair grow back again and go somewhere else to get it fixed.

Didn’t like it. And I’m brazilian. The waxing process was not gentle at all. And the lady who gave me the pedi actually used a machine instead of a foot file and she actually hurt my foot(I came home and the sole was bleeding) Mani was painful — she was too rough with the wood stick I wouldn’t go back.

I would highly recommend Maria and Regina at Maria Bonita to any chicken, pain-sensitive lady who needs a good firm hand in waxing the delicate areas down there. These ladies are über pros; fast, relatively pain-free, and kind… they seem to care about how your coco-bread feels during and after your wax! I especially like that Maria gently applies a cool compress after each yank, and Regina is funny and witty to distract you if needed. Sure, the space is a bit clinical, but let’s not pretend! I am here for one thing only. Get it done and let me outta here.

I booked an appointment for a manicure through Beautified. The technique for the manicure was very strange. The woman painted my entire fingers, then used a wooden tool to scrape the polish off my skin. Then she used a Q tip dipped in remover to take off the remaining polish. I don’t like getting the remover on my skin and the wooden tools scraping were somewhat painful. The end result looked nice, but it wasn’t worth the tedious process. Also, it cost $ 12. I know of multiple places that do a great job for $ 8 – 10. Do not recommend this place for nails, but don’t know about the hair styling.

I went To Maria Bonita for a mani and pedi. Elisa did a fabulous work. The best pedi I had in NY, specially after 15 days skiing. Once there, I decided to have a blow dry with Carmen. Great job. Came out looking beautiful. I recommend Maria Bonita!
