Haven’t walked by this in a while but my understanding is that this place is now closed and replaced by another Wurst-style restaurant.

I like hot-dogs. I like sausages. With Mandler’s you have your choice of meat in casing and sides. I usually go mad for the chorizo or the andouille with either sauerkraut(don’t mock the kraut), sweet onion tomato sauce or the sweet & sour red cabbage. I can’t help it, like pickled and/or spicy stuff. A combo meal will do me in good. I’ll feel like a fat boy upon that high stool. I avoid the zucchini fries like the plague. It’s «coated fried» zucchini. Ick! No flavor! Just give me my fries and I’ll be all happy. If you want to opt healthy, friend, the zucchini fries is not where you should start. They have a salad option for that. If you you’re a rebel and like to straddle the boundaries of healthy and fried-no-goods, do the corn fritters. Corn is a veggie. Or you can opt out and just go meat-sa all the way! Place gets packed at times, so i love it when it’s warm so i can take it to the park to eat… usually means i’m sitting like a bum on the floor and trying to wolf down my sandwich and all it’s toppings w/minimal loss.

Good German sausage place. The Krainerwrust and Bratwurst are my faves. Get yours on the onion roll and load it up with sauerkraut. Then take it to the mustard bar– this place’s coup de grace– and load it up with one of the 8 varieties they have there. I like the peppercorn dijon or the smoked garlic dijon. The Honey mustard(i can’t remember the name of it) is also pretty good. Sandwich is less than $ 6 bucks and filling. A good spot for a quick lunch.

just had the lemonade since i wasn’t too hungry. the sausages looked… intimidating when you’re not so hungry. not so much size, but more texture(and the blank slightly annoyed stare of the lady at the counter). tried some of friend’s meal, corn fries were cool, not necessarily awesome in taste, but cool. i mean, i like corn. the lemonade could’ve been better, mint taste was rather faint, and random. come by here someday instead when you’re feeling like fast food. i think that’ll be how it’s going to be labeled in my heart. price-wise too.

Yesterday, I forgot to eat breakfast. So… by 2 pm, I was starving! I was in the Union Square area — Republic, Zen Palate, Heartland, Blue Water — not feelin’ it. I still wanted breakfast. Chat n’ Chew was too far for my hungry belly to walk(and way too overpriced). No, I didn’t feel like Toasties or the new French bakery. Thank God for Mandler’s! They serve breakfast all day, for just 3.95! Seriously, and I was still in NYC. Downtown! For this small price, I ordered tap water, 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, chorizo sausage(ok, not great) and wheat bread. On one of the first cold days of the year, I was one happy camper. I left with a full belly, but also penny-ful. I will definitely go again, not for the sausage, but for the cheap breakfast!

Who doesn’t like big sausages?! This place is awesome! It has 9 inch long sausage in different styles and free mustards of various flavors. It is a value buy and they have happy hour on beer from 3PM to 10PM… Who can beat that?!?

Overpriced German inspired breakfast food has never been so franchised, except in the case of Mandler’s. This place is so popular for its various types of sausages that I’ve seen lines that have gone out the door before here. It must be all of those signs that note the length and girth of their sausages«9 inches long and getting bigger» is pure hilarity at its finest. Another laugher is my reaction to the food during my first try. It felt like nothing than a glamorized bratwurst that was skimpy in size and while it was somewhat long, it wasn’t so satisfying. The food is decent, but nothing spectacular. Amongst all of the wursts /sausages /frankfurters, they also have other foods that are subpar in quality and fast food in taste. They even have a hashbrown roller in which it looks like a long tube of diced potato. Its good, but its not the hashbrowns I’m used to. The prices could be cheaper, especially when considering the portion size. Their delivery packing is very good, the delivery people however are much slower.

Casual Lunch Spot. (Not for vegetarians) A German with a big appetite and a love for variety would be happy here. Pick your sausage(9″ long), pick your poison(bread, wrap, roll…), select your toppings, choose your mustard(nice variety), take a seat(you won’t wait long), enjoy your meal(not a big restaurant definitely one of those places you pop into for a quick bite, very casual), and be on your merry way(you’ll definitely be happy and full). Cute little quick stop for a sausage or a sandwich. Happy Hour 3−10pm(Buy one get one FREE beer) Date Rating: 2 Pick up Scale: 3(friendly patrons usually eating alone nice variety around lunchtime, definitely casual) Strong Suggestions: Spicy here is GOOD! But if you’re not sure what to order you can always try their sampler the guy sitting at a table near by looked like he was really enjoying his.

nice selection of sausages from chorizo to bratwurst to turkey sausage. great mustard bar too. oh, and the beer taps are a great little touch, because who doesn’t need a beer with a brat?

the mustard bar alone is pretty spectacular. i walked by this open-air restaurant(they always have their window/doors open) so it kind of feels like what Victor L. describes… «a wurst stand and then promoted themselves to actually sit in restaurant». it’s interesting. well, one day i decided to try it out since some items on the menu sounded pretty delicious. i had the chicken wurst with multi grain bread. it was nice and juicy– i actually enjoyed it more than the traditional bratwurst. the grill marks and the cuts are great on a wurst! i had some pickled red peppers and doused the wurst with many different kinds of mustard. delicious! my favorite mustard was the maple syrup one. i purchased a combo meal– which includes a drink and your choice of fries or zucchini fries. the zuchinni fries were so crispy and yummy! i enjoyed everything there. also, the mandler in a blanket is also pretty good. it could be slightly crispier… but whatever, i DID wait 30 minutes to eat it. lol

«OURSIS9″ INCHESLONG!!,» boasts their sign out front. And that’s how I decided to eat here one day for lunch.

Another great delivery lunch. A co-worker says that today is the first day of summer because it’s Memorial Day weekend. I thought there was something like a solstice coming up, but maybe that’s me. Regardless, it’s time for summer food, as well as summer fun. So I ordered from Mandler’s. I got the bratwurst on a white roll with sauerkraut and horseradish mustard. I also got some potato salad, which I’m still eating as I type. Think summer. Think picnics and cookouts. Think Mandler’s. It’s a great place!

This restaurant is just mediocre. You can get a meal for eight bucks that really tastes like it should be six or seven bucks. Personally, I like my sausages with a little kick, so the chorizo or the andouille usually get my vote. The fries aren’t bad either, they’re very crunchy. Lots of oil. Also, if you’re a mustard lover, they’ve got you covered. They have a mustard bar complete with around 9 different kinds of mustard, ranging from sweet to spicy. But really, glorified condiments? I’ll pass.

Just had the opportunity to grab some lunch here and very glad that I did. The place was empty when I got there. I stood there looking at the menu board for a while trying to decide between the Chorizo and the Andouille sausage(tough decision I know.) Finally ordered the Andouille on an onion roll(although you could choose between other types of rolls — white, wheat, multi-grain, etc.), and added the onions & shrooms to the sandwich(other option is the sauerkraut.) Got a soda with it and all-in-all pretty damn inexpensive as compared to other place I have had lunch around the Flatiron district. A few minutes later the sandwich was served up at the counter, dressed nicely and smelling wonderful. They offer a nice selection of mustards to compliment the sausages, but quite frankly, unless you are truly a mustard fan, these sausages don’t need it(I just got a few of the mustards to taste.) The fixings — the onions and shrooms — on top of the sausage looked yummy and they tasted wonderful, not over cooked and nice an firm. The bread had a nice crust, but not overly crusty(not one of those breads you will find all over yourself once you are done with your meal), but had a nice firmness to it as well. The sausage itself seemed to have a nice mix of spices and smokyness, but certainly not over powering and one of the nice things was it had a natural taste which, to me, indicated it was fresh and not«pre-smoked», etc. I did not have any side dishes, but the fries and corn fries looked like a wonderful choice. They also serve breakfast(ALLDAY), here which I thought was unusual for a sausage place(usually you find places like this to be lunch /dinner places only.) They also have a «classic fondue» — made with Classic Gruyère & Emmenthal cheese and two of their sausages(choice is yours on the sausage flavors) — I personally look forward to trying the fondue. They have a kids combo which makes this a kid friendly place.

Right off of the northwest side of Union Square, you walk in and you sort of feel like these guys started a wurst stand and then promoted themselves to actually sit in restaurant, complete with beer taps. The wurst is quite good, I actually eat it without bread most times, who needs it, as are the fries but the best part is all the solid sauces they have lined up for you to indulge in on the left. Great place for a casual lunch with a friend while walking around.

i seriuously love this place. Great bratwurst(and I know my wurst. i grew up in germany)… great happy hour from 3pm-10pm with buy one get one free beer, which goes great with bratwurst. The fries are delicious, and everything is very cheap! It was $ 20 for two(and that includes fries AND a beer).

It is pretty much an upscale sausage place. The corn fries are awesome. They don’t look very much like fries. They should be renamed corn fritters. They are exactly like the fritters at Sizzler. Which is a good thing. The bread and the sausages are very tasty also. But not as good as the corn fries/fritters.

Good sausages at a decent price. Bread could use a little spucing — a bit dry and nondescript — but you really go there for the sausages and the mustard bar anyway(lots of different kinds to try). Good place for a quick, casual bite in union square or after shopping on lower Fifth Ave.
