Best place to go to in the UES! Since everything is so expensive and high end. This place is perfect for quality cheap food! It is not a sit down restaurant but they do have seating. If you’re on a lunch break this will usually take about 30 to eat and wait on your food. My usual is the Lamb with Brown Rice with Spicy Tzikiti sauce! So good! Definitely try the homemade banana pudding! It makes a great breakfast or mid snack in the day. When I used to work in the UES I literally went here about three days a week. It’s eating healthy while not feeling bloated or fat afterwards.

WARNING!!! What you see, is not what you get. This review is for the location on 106th Street between lex and third. What caught my eye about this spot was the«rotisserie» lamb and chicken that was rotating near the grill. That’s what I was expecting to get. What I got was some recooked meat that was dry and flavorless, that came from another area of the grill. The worst part is, I bought two of these monstrosities. Shame on you Mamagyro for deceiving your customers in such a way…

It’s really unfortunate… The food is good for a quick service restaurant but they can not get their delivery operation right! I’ve ordered many times, and at least 1 out of every 4 deliveries have either take an hour longer to arrive than they said it would or have just been the wrong order, missing something or giving the wrong thing. I live only 5 blocks away, and a relatively small order once took over 2.5 hours to get delivered. I guess it’s my fault for thinking they’d fix this problem, I’ll def stay a customer but only for pick up.

THe best place to go if you want a rotten salad. They really go out their way to ensure this. I will never eat there again.

The food here is good, it tastes fresh and it’s a nice diversion from all of the tv dinneresque fast food chains in the neighborhood. I feel like the portions and the price don’t match up but my main qualm about this place is the girls that they have taking orders at the register, all three times that I have been here, I’ve had to re-clarify my order to them and sometimes they get upset about it(can I just have what I asked for or is that too much to ask? I’m really not very hard to please.). I will probably continue to come here because this along with Coco blue down the block, have some of the healthiest food options in the neighborhood.

Been waiting an hour and a half for food. Got the text from seamless saying it was on its way 40 minutes ago, and I’m 12 blocks away. Never ordering from this place again

This used to be my favorite spot but the delivery service is terrible rather always forget the utensils or the sauce or something is wrong, the food still decent but the customer service has declined, I wonder if the change owners or something because I don’t like going there anymore too much attitude, there’s a new spot that just opened that serves greek food maybe they will be more professional

Read about this place in the NY Times and realized it is right around the corner from my new office. Liked the food, the service was a bit shaky. It seemed like it was the cashier’s first day, although she was pleasant. My friend found a hair in his food(not his — he’s cue-ball).

I called in and ordered two mamagyro beef for pick up. I arrived in 15 mins only to be asked to step aside so they can find my order. After 5 mins of waiting I asked the cashier if my order was ready and she informed me that she was still looking for it. After 20 mins of waiting I approached the cashier again in regards to my order. She looked confused and didn’t know where my order was. What upset me was the fact that I had to approach the cashier about my order, she didn’t inform me of any delays .If she couldn’t find my order I would of thought she would place a new order in… NO she just simply starred at me with no apologies… I love the Food at Mamagyro and always recommend many people to eat there. I am really upset with the customer service and how this situation was handled. The food is great but customer service sucked!

This used to be my go to for a scooby snack when on the UES. What went wrong ? Ordered the mama gyro which used to be oh so good but now is oh so bad. Dry meat prob carved off and left for hours and with stale Pitta bread. Why why why. …

You know it’s bad when you’re sad about being full and want to eat something better… The best thing to eat here is actually the salad with chopped gyro meat on top. That seems to be ok as far as satisfying. They throw in a pita which is fine as long as you eat it hot. I had a gyro box also which was a sad collection of meat that I asked to be with hot sauce. they literally gave me a side of Frank’s red hot equivalent hot sauce which made it no Bueno. Who eats Frank’s red hot with gyro??? I’m not THAT American! I would say the gyro meat here is not the same as any of the cart vendors, for some reason theirs is more delicious. I still have managed to come here way too many times. C’mon UES get some foodie worthy spots!

This place used to be worth the money. When it first opened up, the food tasted great, I used to get a gyro from here sometimes before going to work when I worked in the neighborhood. You used to be able to get two gyros here for $ 9.00. Prices have gone up, but quality has now gone down tremendously. The gyros you get now are a lot smaller than what you would have gotten before, despite the price increase. Delivery will also take a while, so I would suggest you pick it up if you are not too far away. I have ordered delivery from them from 3 blocks away and it took 2 hours. When we called, they said that apparently the delivery guy was in the area, but could not find the place. I can understand that, but if a phone number was provided when placing the order, wouldn’t the delivery guy have the decency to call so we can give him directions? It is a small place, but never crowded. There is a counter in front once you walk in, cold drinks and cold food on the right, and to the left there will be a counter and a few chairs. I have tried the chicken gyro and also the mama burger. The chicken gyro is okay, nothing too impressive, it used to be a lot better. For the gyro, you get your choice of chicken, beef, or lamb, your choice of sauce, onions, tomatoes and fries all inside your bread, which you have to let them know if you want white or whole wheat pita. The chicken was a bit dry, tasted a little overcooked, but the sauce was good with the pita bread. I think the burger with mama sauce tasted better than the gyro. The bun was pretty soft and nice to chew. I also really like the mama sauce. Service has gone downhill since they opened. I believe they are under new management now. Expect some attitudes while ordering. The cashiers make it pretty obvious that they hate it there. Sometimes they are too busy talking to each other to notice customers. I doubt I will be returning.

A pretty decent meal, $ 12 for two gyros. But the gyros are really small and I was super disappointed when I opened the box… but at least the meats are tasty. I loved the spicy sauce I added to my lamb gyro, and was so sad that it ended. But, not as hearty as a food truck… so I’ll probably go there instead from now on.

Heard a lot of great things about the gyros here, so I decided to try one out for myself! I ordered the Mama’s Gyro with Lamb on whole wheat with mama’s sauce and Mayo and ketchup. It was AMAZING. It may be the best that I’ve ever had. If you’re around the neighborhood, you’ll definitely want to check this place out! I like that there is some seating inside but for some reason it is so hot inside! Nonetheless, this will be my go-to spot for my gyros!

It’s a small place that has seats for a max of four people. The service is decent, nothing special. Gyros are their specialities. I ordered the Mama’s beef/lamb gyro with tzatziki sauce and white pita, minus the red onions. Mama’s gyro normally comes with a choice of chicken or beef/lamb, choice of sauce, tomatoes, red onions and French fries all wrapped inside with your choice of white or wheat pita. It cost me $ 6.26 for the one gyro. The gyro came out quickly, not taking more than 5 minutes. It was a decent gyro that wasn’t as greasy or oily as the ones you buy from the street vendors. However, they cost a little more than the ones from street vendors and it isn’t as filling or big as the ones from street vendors. Overall it was average, not bad, but not great.

This a neighborhood favorite. When we don’t know what to have for dinner, Mamagyro is our default. It has something for everyone. We have enjoyed: Rotisserie chicken platter with fries or rice — salty goodness with grilled vegetables Box of gyro(beef & lamb) — delicious Black olive feta dip — totally yummy Beet Salad — totally great Greek Salad — very tasty Hummus — good but not the best I have had The portions are large and the price is right. We love Mamagyro!!!

3.5 stars. Ordered delivery from here for lunch at work! The online ordering option was very convenient and Mamagyro definitely gets plus points for this. Just select everything you want from the dropdown menu, enter in your name, phone number, payment option, and hazzah! your order is ready! Delivery was a lot faster than I had expected, which left a very good impression. I got the lamb gyro with everything and mama sauce and I found it to be alright. The bread was really good because it soaked up all of the mama sauce which was pretty good. The lamb tasted similar to the ones you find in halal food and was a little too mushy for my liking. On the menu it specified«beef/lamb gyro» so I had expected it to be a little bit dryer and rough in texture but it ended up being too soft which wasn’t what I had wanted. My friend let me try a piece of his chicken gyro and I thought it was really good! I would definitely recommend getting the rotisserie chicken over the beef/lamb gyro! I’m not sure if I’ll be ordering from here again but if I do I’ll definitely get the chicken gyro! Note: 1 gyro will not fill you up if you are a big eater. For moderate eaters 1 gyro should be enough if you fill yourself up by drinking more water haha!

I came here two years ago and the cashier was a total … She was rude off the bat because I asked her a question about a dish and she said«just order it and you’ll answer that question yourself.» Well she’s gone. Today, the food is great. I am from the Mediterranean and these sandwiches actually remind me of beachside placeless on the sea. The perfect touch is the french fries in the sandwich. Very old school Greek. The gyro is greasy, but the truth of the matter is, it’s supposed to be. The side dishes taste authentic, and can be a bit expensive, but delicious.

Very good spot to pick up a quick lunch. The Mama Gyro is very good; just surprised it didn’t have any lettuce. They do have a Pat La Freida burger that I am interested in trying, that’s next on my list. They also have a nice selection of premade salads to choose from. Go for the Lentil salad– no too much oil or vinegar. Just right! Con– did you really need to charge me $ 0.50 for extra sauce? C’mon now!
