Madison Avenue Medical Imaging/Lenox Hill Radiology

If you enjoy arriving on time for your morning appointment and waiting 40 minutes for an xray, of which the last 5 minutes is the technician chatting with the receptionist, then this is the place for you.

I’ll never get over the fact that no matter what time I schedule my appointment, even if it’s the first appointment of the day, I still end up waiting over an hour. WTF is going on here? What is the point? Other than the receptionist, who is organized and friendly, this place has little to recommend it. I will never come here again, which I’m sure doesn’t matter to them at all.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES; DO NOT GO HERE!!!
I was referred by my doctor to the Madison Imaging location at 118^th/​Madison about 6 months ago for a breast ultrasound. Not only did they keep me waiting/​complain about having to take my appointment (last one of the day), but the technician was taking personal phone calls on her cellphone throughout my exam. Insanely unprofessional.
After my appointment, I was told that I had to come back in 6 months, and that they would be sending me a reminder to make the appointment. Fast forward to last month when I received a letter to schedule my follow up appointment. I called the appointment hotline, scheduled the appointment, and arrived at my allotted time this morning.
Upon arrival, I was told that I could not have my ultrasound without referral from my doctor. Nowhere on the letter that they sent to me did it say that I would need another referral from my doctor. Likewise, the person who booked my appointment neglected to inform me of this caveat. I was flabbergasted. THEY sent me a letter telling me to come back for a follow up, and then wouldn’t honor the appointment. Furthermore, my insurance company does not require that I have a referral from a doctor in order to see a specialist. On top of it all, the technician that I spoke to was very nice, but the guy at the front desk was incredibly rude/​sassy!
Completely wasted my Saturday morning and $ 40+ in round trip cab fare.

Came here for an MRI and X-​ray and was in and out in an hour and a half. Everyone was super professional and buttoned up. The process was pretty streamlined, which was impressive, because I was expecting it to be a total mess based on other health-​related centers I’ve been to.
The only thing was that in the end, they were to give me a CD of all my images, which was to take 5 minutes, but it took close to half an hour. And for someone going during their hour-​long lunch break, that is annoying. Other than that, if I were to go back, I wouldn’t be dreading it.

Update — I eventually did get my MRI and the tech, Carlos, that helped me was very nice and made the experience a good one. I will bump it up to two stars because of Carlos and the mostly helpful front desk people that I encountered during my multiple visits here within the span of 2 days. But I am still leaving off the other 3 stars for the (approximately) 3 hours of my life that got wasted due to LHR. Get it together! Oh and — 77^th Street location? If you are going to make everyone wait hours, at least give out your wi-​fi password!!! No cell service in that waiting room, none for me anyway.
So this is my third time at Lenox Hill Radiology since Thursday night (it is now Saturday morning). I showed up for my appointment thurs PM and it was scheduled at the wrong location. I went back the next morning at 745am, waited an hour only to be told that they were backed up and I would have to wait another half hour. No. Both of those appointments to were at the 77^th street UES location. So they suggested that I go to a different, quieter location the next morning and it would be done quickly. Well, here I sit at Madison Avenue waiting for my MRI. I am the only person here and I have been here for a half hour and it is not looking good. The sad thing is: we all need these tests so these reviews will not hurt these imaging places at all and they will continue to abuse us because they can.

all three of my stars are going to the amazing receptionist working that day. She was on top of her game! checking people in and out, answering phones, and keeping mental tabs on how much water people were drinking, all with a smile on her face. I waited over an hour to get a CT scan done, but the scan itself went very quickly. The radiology tech was ok… Not remarkable. I would come here if I had to… Just remember to bring something to entertain yourself with.

The billing department is lazy and rude, as well as some of the receptionists. I was on the phone waiting and going back and forth with my doctor’s office to clear up a billing problem for ½ a day. I may have to deliver the script from the doctor’s office to the office because someone isn’t doing their job. This sort of shit is why guns should be outlawed.

I had a very nice experience here. I was early, but instead of making me wait, they ushered me right in. I was out by the time I was supposed to start! And they are helpful and kind on the phone.

Terrible place. First time I was here I waited a ridiculously long time, despite getting there the requisite 15 minutes early for my appt. The front desk staff was too busy goofing off with a skeevy messenger that one of them was using to return some article of clothing to a store for her to deal with patients waiting to be checked in. After finally being brought back to change into a gown, I was then left to wait even longer along with a bunch of other practically undressed people in a tiny room where anyone walking by could see you half naked in a gown that barely covers your butt. Embarrassing to say the least. Unfortunately my doctor sent me back to this hellhole for another MRI where I showed up 10 minutes late due to crosstown traffic. I was told that I will have to wait until every other patient that shows up on time is seen — and may have to wait until 5pm. Too bad I wasn’t given the same courtesy last time I was here less than a month ago. On the plus side, the wait has given me the time to write this review. My doctor refers a lot of people here — I will voice my complaints to her and perhaps she’ll find someplace nicer and more accommodating for her patients in the future. Oh, and despite now sitting here for over 45 minutes waiting, they still haven’t taken anyone else back there. I totally could have been done by now, which suggests they’re just vindictive douches. See also Lenox Hill Radiology — same place, two locations and shockingly, this is supposedly the better one! Yikes!

first time overall rating didn’t match my experience and wonder if some reviews were confused with the upper east location.
Receptionist was courteous, helpful and attentive.
Mammogram and sonogram ladies were professional, patient and caring.
Almost no wait for the procedures and was done in a reasonable time.
Only thing — I wish I had a few minutes to chat with a radiologist and ask questions.

This place is horrible. The receptionist was beyond rude and unhelpful. They made the mistake of booking me at the incorrect location and did absolutely nothing to help me book a new appointment at the correct location. I ended up leaving without scheduling for a different time and will not be returning.

Everything you can expect from a crowded medical center in a prime location: long wait despite the reservation, impatient staff, being rushed from room to room without explanation of what’s going on, getting a wrong bill because of their coding error but no one bother solving it for you.
If you just want a convenient location, don’t mind the wait or the bad service, this will be your place.

Worst customer service ever. Waited over 2 hours for a simple X-​ray and kept being told I was next when all along people who came in after me were being seen right away. They clearly have scheduling and staffing issues that need to be worked out.

I signed up for a Unilocal account just so I could write a review of my experience. After my OBGYN found a lump in my breast he sent me to Lenox Hill Radiology/​Madison Avenue Medical Imaging for a mammogram and sonogram. I was TERRIFIED. My last breast sonogram at another place was similar to what I imagine an alien abduction to be: I was shuffled from room to room by beings that didn’t communicate with me, only probed and poked me. I have extreme anxiety when it comes to going to the doctor and I was dreading this appointment.
When I called to make my appointment they were able to see me that day, which I know is quite rare for a mammogram. Upon arrival I was greeted by friendly receptionists who smiled and looked me in the eyes. That has never happened to me in my life. One even got me to laugh! All of the paperwork was thoroughly explained to me and my questions and concerns were neither overlooked nor rushed.
After waiting for about 5 minutes, the woman who was performing my mammogram called me in. I will never forget Carmen. I told her I was terrified. She sat me down and explained the entire procedure. She was sympathetic, understanding and encouraging. She let me sit down in between x-​rays and patiently waited until I was ready for the next. She constantly asked how I was doing, if I was ok, and told me I was doing a great job. She smiled. She listened. She cared. She really gave me a sense of peace, which says a lot considering the circumstances.
After the mammogram I had my sonogram. I think the name of woman who did this procedure is Helen. She was great. She was gentle and like Carmen, understanding and caring. The results were given to me immediately after the sonogram.
I’ve been to a lot of different doctors and never have I had an experience as positive as this one. The staff at Lenox Hill Radiology/​Madison Avenue Medical Imaging is exceptional.
