This place has recently changed ownership and become Walter’s Cottage. Even though their official opening isn’t until December 11th, the vibe of the bar has already changed dramatically. Friendly staff, 7 TVs, and a bar menu… this will be an Irish bar staple in no time. I’m excited to see what other changes this place has up its sleeve.

Even though they no longer serve food, they have a decent price on their drinks. The staff is great but watch out for the owner, the night I was there he was intoxicated and physically assaulted me for no reason… neither the other patrons or staff knew why. Hopefully it gets new ownership soon.

I can barely see the TVs, but then again I’m a dog and barely 18″ tall at the shoulder. Just glancing at the bartender depresses me.

Stumbled upon MacMenamin’s after seeing the Intrepid. There were only about 6 other people in the place and the bartender took 8 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink. We were actually sitting at the bar. He was talking to the owner or something. He apologized, so that was ok. I had a couple beers and the Brooklyn Burger. The burger was very very good and the«french fries» are like actually sliced potatoes fried. Reminded me more of home fries than french fries. Really delicious. My dad makes them this way, so I added an extra star for that. I live in NYC, so I probably won’t go back here because it looks like a tourist spot but the burgers are good for a bite to eat.

everyone was very satisfied. We didn’t have to scream in order to have a conversation at the table. Cool place and cozy.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place around Hell’s Kitchen to watch the Giants game yesterday. Found this gem! Great service, ice cold beer’s, and yummy food! Bathrooms were extremely clean as well. We will definitely be going back to enjoy the games. So happy we found this place!!!

We were looking for an after-work place where we could actually have a converstation, eat good food and not be knocked over. We found our new go-to place. 1) Service was quick and polite. 2) We all ate a variety of dishes and everyone was very satisfied. 3) We didn’t have to scream in order to have a conversation at the table. 4) Very quaint place, that’s not worn/old, but open, airy and cozy. We’ll be going back for sure:)

I love this place! I hosted my birthday party here last month, and Brian and Kim were super helpful. They helped us reserve the space for 2 hours, created a signature cocktail for the event, and treated everyone like family.

Fantastic service and staff. I had the nachos and mozzarella sticks that were great. Can’t argue with $ 10 pitchers either. Overall a great place to watch games and have a few

Around the corner from me. Bar lacks personality and the waitress had a really bad attitude.

I had been coming to a bar in this location for 10 years. Once know as «The River». It seems now those were better days. Now there is a noisy machine behind the bar that is hard to ignore. The sound never stops. Just awful. Walk 200 feet in any direction and you’ll find a better bar. Beer is $ 7. Too expensive for the scene.

Had a great time and laughed a lot playing darts and having a few beers. They even have bottled beer on ice! Thanks for the Bronx glass Brian :)

I stumbled upon this place while hungry walking through Hell’s Kitchen. There were plenty of places to choose from but ended up here. This is a smallish place with a bar, a few tables and a few TVs. I ordered two beers from local selections and a Quesadilla. I thought the food was OK and this seemed to be a good place for the locals to show up and have a drink. The place was very clean and service was so-so but it is what it is.

I would give this place 5 stars, but I didn’t try their food… Reasonably priced drinks, but it was the bartender that made our time there enjoyable. Great staff! I will be going back.

Tuesday was my first time at MacMenamin’s. My co-worker is a regular and we went there after work. The place is pretty small as stated in other reviews. Tuesdays is Karaōke Jack’s night! He is freaking awesome, that guy. He has a great voice and does requests if he knows it. I wish I had a recording of him when a patron is singing. He just jams to himself in the corner. You just have to see for yourself what I mean. Funny as hell. Here’s the thing I’m upset with MacMenamin’s for. They have spoiled me forever on their SUPERFANTASTIC nachos. I just ordered nachos for lunch from some other place and its actually pretty disgusting compared to MacMenamin’s. I’ll try to order something different next time we go there(and yes we are DEFINITELY going back there) but I’ll probably just have the nachos again. And definitely on a Tuesday so we can see Karaōke Jack in action again. FYI MacMenamin’s inspired me to write my first Unilocal review…

We were at the convention and staying at a nearby hotel. We came over here and tried the short rib sandwich, crab cakes, and chicken wings. They were good. Drinks were good as well. Service at the bar was good. Prices are ok. Location is good.

After stopping into a couple bars with friends looking for a place to sit down, eat some food, and watch some sports on tv and being turned away by the crowds, we stumbled across MacMenamin’s, which was perfect for what we were looking for. It is on the smallish side and is certainly not the place to go if you are looking for huge crowds and cheering and high fives. But if you want to find a spot that despite it’s small size will have space for you and an attentive waitress, this is the spot. We ordered a bunch of food. Here is what I can report on: Stay away from the grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken is burnt and dry and they just give you a slice of tomato to make it juicier. The bread was tastier than the sandwich and I usually don’t even eat the bread. The french fries also weren’t very good. My friends had sliders and quesadillas and said they were very good. Everyone at the table also picked at some nachos and chips and those were by far the best. The chips were served very warm and at one point, I literally had to push them away from me to stop eating them. I would come back but would just not order the chicken sandwich again.

The bar formerly known as the River, still has bland, over cooked food, over priced beer and for some reason staff that just straight up ignores customers once their friends come in(even if its just their friends and you at the bar). So many better bars in the neighborhood.

We ended up here after our original plan fell thru… What a mistake! Boring décor, fat waitress, odd mix of clientele. We just ordered burgers and fries and our burgers were charred black! It takes talent to mess up a burger that bad! Additionally– my buddy ordered a Bloody Mary and said it was the worst he ever had… Left it ¾ full, waitress never inquired about it.

Great place in Hell’s Kitchen! The beers are cold and the food is good. A great NYC Bar that has big screen TV’s, cool music and a nice crowd. I love it!
