Again — CLOSED. OUTOFBUSINESS. Restaurants seem to have a short lifespan at this location.

I thought this was a five star diner. The spouse and I stayed at a nearby hotel and needed a late night Sunday dinner. We didn’t feel like ordering a $ 26 hamburger from room service so we ended up at Lyric. The club sandwich was delicious and huge. Nice décor and excellent service. I’ll go back when I’m lucky enough to be in town again.

3.5÷5. Leaning towards 4 because of friendly service. Big generous portions of food and they tasted pretty good. Prices were slightly overpriced compared to what I’m normally used to but it is NYC after all. Left feeling full and satisfied

I had the lunch special of hot corned beef sandwich($ 11.95). Only 4 of ~25 tables occupied so were seated immediately. All friendly very warm staff, I must say. The corned beef was very bland with not even that deep brine taste with well treated beef. Its color was very light which was scary as it should be dark. It also had dozens of tiny cuts/holes which from watching The Science Channel means it was pierced with syringes in the mass manufacture process to add flavor and color(ick!). The bread was that pale white kind that is now unpopular except for Wonder Bread, except it’s got harder edges. The corned beef wasn’t hot at all. The soup tasted like it was canned and mildly warm. I hate whining, but it’s a pretty lackluster meal, perhaps worser as I couldn’t decide what to do for lunch. In other items, there’s free Wifi and a tv over the full bar. Fun place with very nice interior design, clean and efficient for a midtown diner. Spacious and large windows let in tons of light which is good for this part of town. The staff are very nice and it’s appropriate for the value thus the rating. Perhaps it’s good for the desserts, lest I sound like a complete snob.

The menu describes the California Vegetable Wrap as «grilled fresh vegetables with balsamic vinaigrette.» What they served me was a soggy tortilla of microwaved frozen mixed. It was insipid. The side of mayo they brought out was expired to the point of being translucent. This was definitely inedible and potentially dangerous. I don’t plan to return.

They took over 45 minutes to deliver a few things. I live 5 blocks away from them and tipped them well.

The lyric has been a neighborhood restaurant for 30yrs while others have opened and closed. Kinda tells you something if you’re an individual with any sense. Good food and consistent makes a business successful and the reason why they’ve been around so long

I went here at 10:30am on Thursday Feb 4th2016 All I can say is wow! I went in the man at the front told me to sit where I like. I was alone. He gave me a menu and literally 30 seconds later the waitress says«what do you want?» I haven’t looked at the menu yet can you give me a moment.(I was texting my husband the address of my surgery to meet me after breakfast) Anyway she never came back for my order not once! The bus boy who was amazing is why I gave the one star. He did everything! The bill came out to 11.75 $ the waitress did not take my order, she did not come and ask me if I needed anything, if my order was right or more coffee. The only thing she did was bring my food put it in front of me and never said a word. So since the bus boy did it all I made a point of giving him 5 $ in front of her and said«this is for you, this is not a shared tip it yours. You should be the waiter» he was very grateful. Also did it in front of the manager so the waitress couldn’t try and take it from him. Don’t just think you are going to get a tip for doing nothing doesn’t matter what type of employment you have. I was appalled by the service. I told the man in the front not once did any waitress come and see me and your bus boy did everything! I gave him 5 $ and nothing to the waitress. Did he say sorry? Nope just shrugged and that was it. I have never had service like this in my life! Will never go back, I’m still shocked by the response of lack of. Just a shrug.

Back in 2011 we visted NewYork City and this diner was open so we went in and was seated. There were no women working, we thought that was kind of different. The food was okay, I remember ordering a sandwich.

Don’t believe the negative reviews! It is my second time coming here and I still can not believe it’s a diner! The food is fantastic!!! I never go for fish at a diner– easy way to get food poisoning you ask me– but here the fish is fresh and cooked perfectly! Prices are a bit higher than any other diner I’ve been too but again, the food is restaurant quality; just as every place should be! I will be returning again!

My sister goes to SVA, & she raved about this diner. The prices were okay, and the environment was cute. Although, apparently their radio was set to «Spanish». To start, I ordered the Matza Ball Soup and my sister ordered the chicken and rice soup. Both were under seasoned. For my entrée, I ordered Acapulco Style Burger which came with jalapeños and grilled onions and a side of fries(considered«deluxe» since I wanted lettuce, tomatoes, & fries). My sister ordered the Linguini with Fried Calamari. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t «amazing» either. The burger was decent, but it wasn’t anything special. The linguini was pretty lackluster as well. The sauce was plain and it could’ve used a more seasoning. Maybe more sauce would’ve helped. The fried calamari wasn’t crispy which I found to be an issue. According to my sister, she eats there all the time with her friends, so I’m hoping the other menu items are better. I wouldn’t mind trying it out again.

I don’t know why lyric has so many poor reviews. I actually love this neighborhood diner and order delivery often. My order always comes insanely fast and is always followed to a tee. Breakfast classics and sandwiches mostly appeal to me as diner fare and the lyric diner does it well.

Food and service was not on a good Diner level… My omelette was dry and my friends medium rare burger was well. I wanted to complain but did not feel like arguing. Wasted money, Maybe at 3am but not at lunch time…

I order from this place and generally like their food. It’s pretty standard diner food but they’re 24 hours and free delivery so they really come through in a pinch. I went their to eat today though and it was a terrible experience. We were rushed, our waitress barely looked at or spoke to us, and we were told we could order brunch with the drink special until after 12 which wasn’t indicated on the sign. I’ll keep ordering from them but I would not go back to eat there and don’t recommend you do either.

Well, I’ve been going to Gramercy Café, 17th and 3rd for about 3 months and after my food(for lack of better words) experience here, Gramercy café has just increased by one star. The ambience and mood is cool, but the service people do not really know how to work a menu. Two egg whites scrambled with sausage. Simple? Nope. Suggestions by staff, zero and fast service is not a concern. I got my coffee 1 minute before my to go order was ready so I can’t comment on what I didn’t taste and the eggs? Well it’s possible I could have whipped those bad boys up on the hood of my car and made sausage from a box that was more appealing. Tiny little package with two baby links for ten bucks. And I could not eat them anyway, because they were prepared wrong. I didn’t order egg whites with cheese AND someone’s nasal hair. See the picture, no shit. Maestro, rewrite the Lyrics to this place and call it «The Parties Over».

I will not come here again. The one star was for being open late on a weekday… I believe this diner is 24 hours? First, I shouldve known to go with my gut and leave before they took my order. Which they took almost 10 mins to take. Ten minutes is a long time to even get your order taken. The server seemed like he was rushing. I asked for a corona with a lime, he stated very matter-of-factly«ma’am this is not that kind of place»…which confused me. What kind of place is it then? I know that it was a diner… but what’s the problem with serving a corona with a lime? That is the key part to drinking a corona. I ordered the Steak & Eggs dish. This dish definitely made the list for the worst steak & eggs ever made. The Steak, as descibed to me by the server, was a NY Strip Steak. It came out dull-gray looking. I requested it to be medium-rare. This came almost well and the steak was chewy. A weird chewy. A is-this-really-steak chewy. On top of that, the counter man was a bit rude and seemed annoyed with life.

*** Typical Diner, Quick Service, Many Options *** Like most diners, this one isn’t much different. There are many options on its menu and the service is usually very quick. I’m a huge fan of their brunch menu because you get the option of coffee/tea/juice and a fruit salad with your main dish.

I hate to write awful reviews about restaurants, especially when this restaurant seemed so quaint. But the atmosphere cannot even begin to repair the sad food that appeared before us. My sister brought me here after a miserable time trying to find good food open late within a reasonable walking distance of her apartment. We each ordered an entrée. I ordered the salmon, she ordered a spaghetti dish, which came with a side of soup. She got the chicken noodle, I got the matzah ball soup. The matzah ball soup was interesting, to say the least. Not what I expected, or hoped to taste on my tongue. The salmon had zero to none in the flavor department. No seasoning. Even I can make better, and I burn oil. The vegetables were steamed abysmally. Her pasta wasn’t bad, or maybe because there was actually flavor in her spaghetti sauce. The servers were so sweet and friendly it hurts me to rate this restaurant so poorly, but the service does not excuse the poor quality of the food.
