My perfect Dominican hairstylist! I come here during my lunch break for my cut, wash and set, these ladies get me in and out. I always love the service, and the women are all pleasant. Very clean, plus free wifi and a bargain? What else Could you ask for?! Very experienced.

Looking for a quick wash and set spot on the east side and I came across this spot. The owner said 1 hour I said ok. The shop was very small and unorganized. She charged me $ 32 for a deep conditioner, wash & set. It was basic nothing to write home about, the other lady burned daughter’s hair when blowing it out and now I’m worried about the long term damage and it took 2 hours but Lucy’s did the job, would I ever go back again? No.

Went back a third time for a relaxer and this time I made sure Lucy did my hair. Well all I can say is that there won’t be a fourth time. Lucy was just awful, very aggressive and nasty. She gave me the worst relaxer and color rinse($ 65) and the wash was so brutal, I thought she was getting out her aggression on my scalp. In the end, my hair felt sticky and dirty and she gave me the ultimate mushroom with side part Dominican hairstyle — went home and washed it again. Really brutal experience. Lucy seemed pissed off that she had to do my hair — very strange. The salon itself is pretty unsanitary, they use dirty towels and the rollers, brushes are dirty. Really awful experience. Stay away from this place is my advice. I rather pay more to see a skilled hairdresser who is friendly, professional and above all, keeps a clean salon.

I live a few blocks away from Lucy’s and without my co-workers recommendation, I would have walked by it without a second thought. I’m unbelievably happy I finally stopped in and trusted my co-workers suggestion! This place isn’t fancy. You go in, wait your turn, and get your hair done. There is zero superficial, pretentious nonsense that so many New York City salons thrive on. I am white and my hair is fine, wavy and oily. I have lots of layers and I like my hair to have lots of body and movement. I get nervous trying out new places; I usually stick to high end salons and end up paying close to $ 150 — and it’s not that great of a cut! I went in and said I just wanted a trim and to clean everything up. I got a quick wash, cut and a dry. All for $ 35. The best part… it was the best haircut I’ve ever had. I’ve never had so many people compliment my hair after getting it cut. This place is truly a hidden gem in East Harlem. Regardless of your hair type, go, and Lucy will hook you up.

I went to get my hair done at Lucy’s, a co-worker suggested the place. And I could not believe what a wonderful job they did on my hair. I’m African American and my hair can be hard to manage at times; plus I wear it natural. After I left Lucy’s Solon, it looked like I gotten a perm!!! I loved it. They also do coloring, that was even better!!!

Good hair care, flexible, and they do work fast. I highly recommend this place.
